BANGKOK, April 5, 2021 — Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched ‘MICE Innovation, Winning with the Innovation’ to offer enhanced support for Thai MICE entrepreneurs to source and implement innovation in all aspects of event management. The goal is to ensure business continuity and long-term competitiveness of Thailand’s MICE industry.

TCEB LAUNCHES ‘MICE WINNOVATION’ TO GIVE MICE ENTREPRENEURS A READY SUITE OF TECH SOLUTIONS AND ALL-ROUND SUPPORT TO GO DIGITAL.
TCEB LAUNCHES ‘MICE WINNOVATION’ TO GIVE MICE ENTREPRENEURS A READY SUITE OF TECH SOLUTIONS AND ALL-ROUND SUPPORT TO GO DIGITAL.

It is an expanded version of the bureau’s MICE innovation incubation programme ‘Thailand’s MICE Startup’ starting in 2018, which has so far involved 37 successful startups and tech firms and the resources and experiences of which have been consolidated for the newly launched project.

At the launch of ‘MICE Winnovation’, 29 tech firms showcased their products and services to 126 trade visitors representing convention venues, hotels, event organisers, travel agents, trade associations, and education institutions. Their products and services included software for monitoring visitor traffic, face recognition cameras, robots, on-demand workforce, and livestreaming services.

Technomart, the business-matching segment of the day’s programme, gave MICE entrepreneurs an opportunity to meet a select pool of potential technology partners who are familiar with the particular requirements of MICE. A total of 101 business-matching meetings were held onsite while 51 more were conducted online. Some of the online meetings took place as a result of searches made by attendees on TCEB’s online MICE Innovation Catalog.

To spur adoption of MICE technologies, TCEB is extending funding support in the form of Inno-Vouchers. These vouchers can be used by organisers of domestic and international exhibitions, international conventions, and festivals to offset their investment in new digital solutions.

TCEB President, Mr Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, said the ‘MICE Winnovation’ project will enable Thai entrepreneurs to take concrete steps to embrace digital innovation in the face of a fast-shifting business landscape. "Implementing innovation is one of the four pillars of TCEB’s Operational Plan for 2021 to maintain Thailand’s competitiveness. ‘MICE Winnovation’ will unlock the resources built up under our ‘Thailand’s MICE Startup’ programme since 2018. We have witnessed the co-creation of numerous technology solutions from the programme and will continue to support our MICE entrepreneurs to future-proof their businesses through innovation, while creating trade opportunities for startups and tech firms" he said.

‘MICE Winnovation’ is made up of four components:

  • MICE Innovation Catalog – an online innovation and technology databank listing products and services for pre-event, onsite, and post-event management
  • Technomart – a business-matching platform for MICE entrepreneurs and startups throughout Thailand
  • Inno-Voucher – a funding scheme to promote innovation implementation
  • Digital Literacy for MICE – an initiative to encourage MICE entrepreneurs to attend online or offline workshops where they can exchange ideas with experts to advance their digitalisation strategy. TCEB is set to launch a quarterly podcast in 2021 to help MICE professionals stay abreast of relevant technology and trends.

‘MICE Innovation, Winning with the Innovation’ is a collaboration between TCEB and the following partners: Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), National Innovation Agency (NIA), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thai Exhibition Association (TEA), Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), and Thai International Events and Festivals Trade Association (TIEFA).

More information on Thailand’s tech entrepreneurs and their products and services is available from TCEB’s MICE Innovation Catalog at: https://innocatalog.tceb.or.th

Kakao Chairman Kim Beom-su signs the Giving Pledge, officially pledging to give away half his fortune

– An official pledge, following his message in February to donate half of his personal assets

– Donations to be used to resolve social issues

SEOUL, South Korea, March 16, 2021 — Kim Beom-su, chairman of Kakao, has signed the Giving Pledge, officially pledging to donate more than half of his personal assets to society.

Kakao announced that Kim became the 220th pledger of the Giving Pledge on March 16.

The Giving Pledge is a global philanthropic movement that was launched in 2010 by Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates along with Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett. The Giving Pledge is a moral commitment by the world’s wealthiest to give the majority of their wealth to charitable causes. Currently, there are 220 pledgers from 25 countries, including Tesla founder Elon Musk, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson.

"A young man that once dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur after reading a feature article on Microsoft’s 20th anniversary in 1995, now awaits to join the Giving Pledge." Kim said in his pledge. "I feel a thrilling excitement as I did then, when I first read the Microsoft article. We, my wife Miseon Hyeong and I, would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and respect to Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett for providing us with this meaningful opportunity of generous giving, as well as to all those who have taken the pledge before us," he added.

"Through this pledge today, we commit to give more than half of our wealth back to society during our lifetime. Of the philanthropic causes that we considered and discussed at length with our son, Sang-bin, and daughter, Ye-bin, we intend to direct our donations to those that may contribute to solving social issues." he stated.

"After having achieved the wealth that I had aimed for, I was left feeling rudderless and lacking direction in life. It was around this time that I came across the poem, ‘What is Success?’ attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson. The poem gave me a sense of guidance on how I should navigate my pursuits going forward." he said. "Ten years ago, while I was redefining the meaning of success, I launched a project to foster and support 100 CEOs of startups. Though it involved much trial-and-error during the earlier stages, the project ultimately resulted in the fruition of the Kakao Community and has touched the lives of many Koreans."

"With this pledge as our starting point, my wife and I will engage in efforts to address social issues in the areas that businesses cannot reach. We plan to discover and support 100 innovators who are dedicated to building proactive solutions for social issues through social enterprises and foundations. We dream of working together with such innovators to make a better world.

"We also aim to explore suitable alternatives to the educational system for future generations. Additionally, we will strive to level the uneven playing field caused by inequalities, while also doing all we can to provide assistance to those who are working to support the people in need."

Lastly, he added, "We truly hope that the path we take will encourage our fellow innovators who are each on their own journeys to change the world. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and deepest affection to our families, who have gladly agreed and lent their support to this pledge."

Through a New Year’s message that was sent to all Kakao employees on February 8, Kim announced that he would commit more than half of his wealth to resolving social issues throughout his lifetime. He also stated in a company-wide meeting held on February 25th, "I am interested in providing support to people who have not been given opportunities due to the growing divide in digital education, and in cultivating new talent in the area of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and emerging technologies. I would like to put my donations to use immediately in the areas where they are needed and I would like to impact change by addressing social issues through large-scale investments of capital."

Bigo Live, ANTRA and The Equality Project celebrate Mardi Gras and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia

SYDNEY, March 5, 2021 As part of the Mardi Gras celebrations in Australia and in partnership with ANTRA and The Equality Project, livestreaming app Bigo Live hosted "Together We Rise", a panel discussion echoing the theme of this year’s event, "RISE" and focusing on the platform’s diverse community.

Held on Friday, 26 February, "Together We Rise" brought together five thought leaders and active members of the LGBTQIA+ community to discuss how Mardi Gras may look and feel different this year, the opportunities and challenges they face and how the community has stayed connected and motivated during the pandemic through technology. The session featured Cedric Yin-Cheng, founder of ANTRA; Jason Tuazon-McCheyne, founder and CEO, The Equality Project; Adrian Tuazon-McCheyne, CTO, The Equality Project; Canadian-based bisexual Bigo Live broadcaster KirraZomby and was moderated by Perth-based transgender Bigo Live broadcaster, Dolly (BratzDoll).

The discussion was supported by Bigo Live ANZ’s Multi-People Room feature, a function that will enable panel participants to engage with viewers, answer questions and connect over shared experiences.

In honour of the event, Bigo Live is also donating USD2,000 to support the work of ANTRA and The Equality Project.

"Bigo Live broadcasters and users always demonstrate the Australian values of encouraging multiculturalism and egalitarianism. Our audiences’ gender identity, sexual identity and cultural diversity reflect a modern Australia, so we’re very pleased to have kicked off Mardi Gras celebrations with such an insightful ‘Together We Rise’ panel discussion," said a Bigo Live ANZ spokesperson.

"We are invested in ensuring that Bigo Live is one of the most diverse and inclusive social networking platforms and a safe place for the LGBTQIA+ community as we all work together towards a better, more inclusive future for current and future generations of Australians."

The Equality Project is a national health promotion charity bringing together LGBTIQ+ people and allies to promote a better, more just, and fairer society for all Australians. By creating a truly intersectional discussion, they aim for LGBTIQ+ voices to be heard.

"At the end of the day, your sexuality and your gender are just what they are.The sooner you can be your authentic self the better, and certainly find support networks to help keep you psychologically and physically safe," commented Jason Tuazon-McCheyne, founder and CEO of the Equality Project.

"In Australia we’ve only just recently had marriage equality which has changed a lot of things for us. I think being visible is being part of the solution; the more visible we are, showing that we are a diverse community, and telling our stories really helps move the conversation forward. It’s really important for us to tell our own stories because it humanises this LGBTQ+ acronym that’s often quite alienating for some people outside of the community," said Adrian Tuazon-McCheyne, CTO of the Equality Project.

The Australia & New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance Inc.(ANTRA) is a community-based not-for-profit advocacy group, founded to celebrate and embrace diversity, but most importantly, to become a point-of-contact and support for Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking LGBTQIA+ community members, particularly migrants, international students and other newly arrived diasporas.

"Your sexuality and your gender identity are formed inside of you and you have to be comfortable in order to tell others who you are. Australia is a diverse society, but if you’re not in a safe environment or have open-minded friends, if you don’t have open-minded workplaces or schools, you risk putting yourself into a dangerous and unsafe position when coming out. So I would think about your safety first and secondly, think about whether you know yourself well enough to explain to other people, who might not be as smart or as fabulous as you are, who you are," said Cedric Yin-Cheng, founder of ANTRA, offering advice to the LGBTQ+ community about their journey to shaping their identity.

"It has been such a pleasure being invited by Bigo Live, the channel that has worked so much to make sure LGBTQI+ people are visible and well valued. I am proud and fortunate to have spoken with Dolly, Jason and many more other interactors in their comments and understand a lot more about how our community is on this lovely platform. I truly wish the best to Bigo Live and I am hoping Bigo Live continues with their excellent work in making sure the voices of LGBTQIA+ people are well heard and seen!" Yin-Cheng continued.

The panel was moderated by Dolly (known to her two thousand Bigo Live followers as BratzDoll, Bigo ID: Dooly19), a transgender woman and Bigo Live broadcaster who moved to Australia when she was nine years old and has been open with her personal experiences identifying as gay male before her transition and her journey to realising her true identity and finding her support network online.

With over 1.3 million subscribers across the ANZ region and a 20% sign-broadcaster increase month-on-month, Bigo Live is one of the world’s fastest-growing, community-first social networking platforms that uses livestreaming technology to bring people together. Globally, the platform connects over 400 million users worldwide.

This is the most recent livestreaming event hosted by Bigo Live dedicated to LGBTQIA+ users and allies. Prior to this, Bigo Live has announced a series of LGBTQIA+ initiatives globally, including an official corporate partnership with The Trevor Project and a #WeStandTogether event series in celebration of Pride Week in 2020.

The panel discussion was livestreamed at 6:00pm AEDT on Friday, 26 February on Bigo Live ANZ (ID: 80019), and the panel discussion is available to view here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_LTb4w5Im8WIgoJw-bf2STSWyLN0Bmyf/view

Mobility Leaders Prioritize Data Management, Protection, and Privacy While Enabling Users and Providers to Exchange and Monetize Their Most Valuable Digital Commodity

Technology and mobility leaders like DENSO, Ford, and General Motors (GM) join forces with MOBI to co-create industry-wide blockchain-based standards that enable the secure exchange of data for a smarter mobility future

SINGAPORE, March 3, 2021 What if cars could communicate with each other to avoid imminent crashes and use shared data to prevent future accidents while preserving the drivers’ privacy? What if you could use one app with a single payment platform to securely coordinate and integrate all of your daily commute needs? What if navigation apps need your permission to track your mobility preferences, or better yet, pay you? Mobility is becoming increasingly connected and intelligent, which in turn creates a nearly infinite amount of valuable data that, if shared securely, could save lives and improve mobility ecosystems at every level. Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) members, such as DENSO, Ford, and GM, are among many that teamed up to create standards for permissioning, validating, and sharing data in automation networks for connected mobility.

The MOBI Connected Mobility Data Marketplace (CMDM) Working Group releases standards today to enable a marketplace that could securely commodify mobility data and ensure data privacy for mobility users. The CMDM Standards include core services, logical schemas, and sensor identity/ownership certificates. These three components will enable frictionless data sharing to establish communication and collaboration between the data silos of Mobility Service Providers, while maintaining high standards of data privacy and security for all users.

"This framework gives mobility providers valuable guidance on how we can all work together to make transportation safer, smarter and more efficient," said Roger Berg, Vice President of North American Research and Development at DENSO. "Sharing data, securely and through common standards, can unlock a vast array of positive mobility outcomes, from accident reduction to privacy protection to improving traffic flow."

The Working Group is co-chaired by DENSO and GM, with support from Accenture, AMO Labs, Cognizant, Constellation Network, Continental, CPChain, DMX, Fifth9, Filament, Ford, IBM, NuCypher, Ocean Protocol, RouteOne, ShareRing, Swedish Blockchain Association, and Toyota Insurance Management Solutions (TIMS).

Trust in data, its provenance, and chain of custody are essential for value creation in business ecosystems. Centralized databases, of the type that currently assign identities and rights on the internet, provide an attractive target for malicious actors and make networks vulnerable to attack and fraud, exposing individual and business data. Blockchain emerged as a solution to these issues and is being adopted by ecosystems such as connected mobility in order to securely share data and protect users’ data privacy.

"For connected mobility data to be efficiently shared, there must be a functioning marketplace for discovery, permission, exchange, and pricing," said MOBI Co-Founder and COO, Tram Vo. "The standards from the MOBI CMDM Working Group lay the foundation for a secure and viable market."

Maximizing passenger safety and transportation efficiency requires that vehicle-to-anything (V2X) data be shared and processed locally in near real-time at the "edge" of the network. Edge computing has been a large focus for the distributed computing community, and MOBI believes that the widespread growth of connected and autonomous vehicles represents one of the most exciting and impactful opportunities for a data marketplace, providing speed, cost savings, and new revenue opportunities.

The Working Group explored practical use cases that center around vehicle data generation, ensuring data provenance, and securely sharing data with peers (such as other vehicles and infrastructure). These use cases include:

  • V2X data exchange
  • Geo-location cross validation
  • Multimodal trip planning through easy, interoperable, and secure sharing of data
  • Coordination between autonomous vehicles, big data, and edge computing that would increase traffic safety and efficiency

CMDM Standards are the first step to ensure data privacy in data exchange and efficient data marketplaces for mobility ecosystems. The standards do not prescribe governance models, but instead prescribe functionalities that can be applied to many governance models in a decentralized marketplace. All MOBI Standards are intended to be GDPR compliant. We do not prescribe specific aspects of GDPR and other privacy regulations such as California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which are left up to the application developers. MOBI and its members hope that the CMDM standards, together with other MOBI standards for blockchain applications in mobility, will promote data privacy, reduce frictional inefficiencies, improve mobility services, and enable new business models.

SEMI Applauds President Biden, Bipartisan Congressional Leaders for Supporting Semiconductor Supply Chain Incentives

MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 26, 2021 — SEMI, the industry association serving the global electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, today released the following statement from president and CEO Ajit Manocha on the support of funding incentives to expand U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and research by President Biden and a bipartisan group of members of Congress in a meeting at the White House on February 24, 2021.

"We thank President Biden and bipartisan congressional leaders for their support of incentives for U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and research. Enacting an investment tax credit and funding the programs authorized last year will help build needed semiconductor manufacturing capacity in the U.S. and reverse America’s declining share of global chip production. We look forward to working with the Biden administration and Congress on these and other policies to strengthen the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain that is the lifeblood of technology innovation driving countless societal and economic benefits worldwide."

SEMI strongly supported the CHIPS for America Act, which included a refundable investment tax credit (ITC) to build U.S. semiconductor manufacturing capacity, a Commerce Department program to provide grants to semiconductor manufacturing projects, and authorizations for significant new semiconductor research programs and funding. The Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act signed into law this January authorized the Commerce Department and semiconductor research programs in the CHIPS for America Act but failed to provide new funding. SEMI supports enactment of all three major pillars of the CHIPS for America Act, which together will promote U.S. semiconductor research and manufacturing.

Attending the meeting with President Biden were Sens. Cornyn (R-TX), Warner (D-VA), Baldwin (D-WI), Blackburn (R-TN), Braun (R-IN), Duckworth (D-IL), Hassan (D-NH), and Portman (R-OH); and Reps. Matsui (D-CA), McCaul (R-TX), and Joyce (R-PA).

Leading Automakers and Technology Companies Advance Blockchain Vehicle Identities that Could Help Buyers Avoid Cars with Incorrect Mileage, Maintenance, or Damage Histories

MOBI Collaborates with BMW, Ford, and Others on Second Installment of a Vehicle Identity Standard for multi-stakeholder, interoperable mobility ecosystems of the future

MUNICH, Germany, Jan. 20, 2021 — We’ve all heard about rolled-back odometers and flood-damaged vehicles touted in better condition. BMW, Ford, and other transportation and blockchain leaders want to slow these practices by joining forces with an ambitious nonprofit startup developing technology to better track and protect vehicles’ true identities.

The Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI)’s member-led Vehicle Identity (VID) II Working Group released the second installment of the industry’s vehicle identity on blockchain.

The VID II Standard leverages the VID I Standard (a vehicle birth certificate) to describe the use of VID in a variety of practical use cases. The two use cases focused on by the working group (WG) are vehicle registration and maintenance traceability. Vehicle registration on blockchain allows formerly disconnected vehicle registration systems between states and countries to connect using a secure, shared, and trusted ledger. Maintenance traceability will provide a tamper-proof history to buyers, regulators, and insurers, therefore reducing vehicle information asymmetry.

"At BMW we strive to create seamless digital solutions. The reference architecture in the VID II standard is a crucial building block in the transformation to a frictionless and trusted mobility ecosystem," said BMW’s Andre Luckow, Head of Emerging Technologies.

Global mobility leaders, startups, and large technology companies authored the VID II Standard to progress multi-stakeholder, interoperable mobility ecosystems. MOBI’s VID II Working Group is co-chaired by BMW and Ford, with support from Accenture, AWS, AutoData Group, Bosch, Car IQ, DENSO, DMX, Hitachi America, Ltd., Honda, IBM, Kar Auction Services, Luxoft, Quantstamp, Ownum, and USAA.

"A secure digital vehicle identity sets the foundation for a fully automatic network for usage-based transportation services," said MOBI COO and Co-Founder, Tram Vo. "We expect this network for frictionless transfer of value in the New Economy of Movement to open up trillions of dollars of new opportunities to monetize vehicles, services, data, and infrastructure."

Additional use cases for VID include supply chain, automotive financing, electric vehicle charging, autonomous vehicle data exchange, and much more. VID II improves asset visibility, creating an anchor for additional use cases, data provenance, and autonomous economic agents.

"Ford believes this research into vehicle identity technology could lead to better ownership experiences," says Cynthia Flanigan, Director, Vehicle Research and Technology, Ford Research and Advanced Engineering. "We also think this technology could help simplify the purchasing process in the future."

VID II is a building block to a future with more transparent, efficient, and safer vehicle registration and maintenance. Both the buyer and seller will have a more reliable record that can open up opportunities for increased market value for the seller and an increased sense of security for the buyer. Agencies that process vehicle records will reap the benefits of efficient processing and tracking of records.

MOBI and its members hope that the VID standards, together with other MOBI standards for blockchain applications in mobility, will reduce frictional inefficiencies, improve mobility services, and enable new business models.

SubOptic Association Launches the SubOptic Foundation

The SubOptic Foundation – a newly-formed charitable organization – aims to support a variety of programs designed to promote the sustainability of the fiber optic submarine cable industry and global communications community

LONDON, Jan. 18, 2021 — The SubOptic Association ("SubOptic"), the industry-led, International, non-profit association dedicated to promoting the development and sustainability of global fiber-optic subsea cable and connectivity infrastructure, announces today the launch of the SubOptic Foundation. The SubOptic Foundation is a charitable organization with legal entities in the USA and UK, focused on supporting education and research initiatives designed to lay the groundwork for a better future for the subsea cable industry and the global communications fabric as a whole.

The primary purpose of the Foundation will be to enhance SubOptic’s support of programs focused on education and outreach, with the end goal of increasing awareness, inclusivity and diversity across the industry. It will also take an active role in promoting the industry as an attractive employer and the professional development of those entering the industry.

A secondary, but equally important purpose of the Foundation, will be to drive initiatives that contribute to the long-term health and sustainability of the wider submarine cable industry. As an example, the SubOptic Foundation is especially pleased to have secured a US$200,000 research grant from the Internet Society Foundation, which is funding a study focused on "Decarbonizing Global Cable Network." The research team will be led by Nicole Starosielski, Associate Professor of Digital Media at NYU. The team includes other university professors from around the globe and members of SubOptic’s Global Citizen Working Group, which aims to "Green the Internet’s Undersea Infrastructure."

"I’m very excited to be part of this great initiative that we hope to develop into a new keystone supporting our industry’s future. We’re also committed to finding new ways to attract and develop diverse talent through the Foundation’s education initiatives," states Erick Contag, executive chairman of GlobeNet and executive committee President of SubOptic. "The grant Nicole and her team have secured from the Internet Society Foundation provides our Foundation with a great start and set of objectives from which to build upon."

The Foundation will also continue to co-sponsor and support the Subsea OFC Summer School launched in 2019 in partnership with the Optical Society of America and Google.

"I’m thrilled to have played a small part in supporting the Summer School. Both the first 2019 session and last year’s participants were a truly diverse set of students and industry-sourced faculty from around the globe. We hope to reach an even broader spectrum of students with our 2021 program," comments Jayne Stowell, strategic negotiator of global infrastructure at Google, "The Summer School’s goal is to increase awareness of and interest in our industry to universities – especially graduate students who may be seeking careers in our fascinating business. To date, we’re proud to have made real inroads in achieving this goal."

The Foundation Board of Trustees includes Contag, Stowell, Elaine Stafford (DRG Undersea Consulting), Leigh Frame (Xtera) and Ed McCormack (Ciena). A team of preeminent industry veterans has also been recruited as an Advisory Board, to help the Foundation achieve its goals.

McCormack commented, "The Foundation provides the industry with a funding vehicle and tangible development plans to drive awareness and attract new talent.  When I was asked to become a Trustee of the Foundation, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to contribute to the long-term health of our industry."

PETALING JAYA, Malaysia, Nov. 25, 2020 — Dattel Asia Group, a leading consumer data & analytics company in ASEAN, has recently launched UPLIFT Malaysia – an initiative to empower 10,000 businesses with actionable insights on the latest consumer behaviour through a RM 50 million data fund. This initiative aims to help individuals who have lost job or businesses that are being impacted by the recent economic downturn to recuperate sustainably.

We aspire to uplift 10,000 companies and nurture business communities that are more #celikdata in the country. We aspire to uplift 10,000 companies and nurture business communities that are more #celikdata in the country. For you to have a competitive edge in business, you need a reliable source of data that continuously gives you new perspectives of the market. Ashran Dato’ Ghazi Chief Executive Officer, Dattel Asia

One of the inspirations for UPLIFT was when the CEO of Dattel Asia, Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, met many entrepreneurs struggling with the abrupt shift in consumers’ behaviour due to COVID-19 outbreak. The behavioural shifts caused many consumer-facing businesses uncertain about how, or even if, they should respond to the changes. With so many changes happening at an unprecedented rate, companies do not have the necessary insights that are up-to-date and comprehensive for them to pivot their business or marketing strategy.

To address this, Dattel Asia has partnered with several powerhouses in the industry to launch UPLIFT Malaysia. The primary goal of this initiative is to ensure that businesses in Malaysia have the necessary access to accurate data which are usually made available only to large companies.

Among the industry players that have joined forces with Dattel Asia for UPLIFT Malaysia are BAC Education Group, Transcosmos Malaysia and ZBRA Business Research & Analytics. Also, UPLIFT has gained the support of Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN), Owners Circle and Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi (MEDAC). Dattel Asia hopes more industry players will come forward and contribute to the initiative.

Applications for UPLIFT data fund are open to any individuals or companies, especially those interested in consumer-facing business such as retail, fashion, F&B, fitness, beauty, health or snacks. Upon review, successful applicants will receive access to consumer data & training package worth RM 5,000 and weekly updates on consumers’ COVID-19 sentiment and behaviours.

The access to the consumer data & training package is only limited to the first 10,000 eligible applicants. Those who are interested can visit the UPLIFT Malaysia webpage at upliftmy.dattel.asia for more details and apply for the data fund now.
