Public Interest Registry Launches .GIVING, New Top-Level Domain to Streamline Online Fundraising

Newest addition to .ORG family of domains furthers PIR’s commitment to empowering mission-driven organizations across the globe

.GIVING: There’s no better way to give

RESTON, Va., Jan. 21, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — To further its commitment to supporting mission-driven organizations, Public Interest Registry (PIR), the non-profit organization that runs the .ORG domain, today launched .GIVING – a brand new top-level domain (TLD) that will streamline the online fundraising and donating experience for mission-driven organizations and philanthropic-minded individuals. .GIVING is now publicly available for the first time to any mission-driven entity – regardless of non-profit status.

Along with the trustworthiness and security of the .ORG domain, .GIVING offers mission-driven organizations the opportunity to create a dedicated online space for fundraising, taking the guesswork out of the donation experience by clearly signaling the purpose of a site to would-be donors. .GIVING in turn can help simplify the donation experience for individuals, making it easier to contribute to the causes they care about. Individuals can also purchase their own .GIVING domain to encourage others to donate to the organizations that are most important to them – amplifying the impact of their own donations.

“January is about new beginnings, and so is .GIVING. .GIVING will make it easier than ever for mission-driven organizations to raise money for social causes, and will empower individuals to promote, support, and contribute to the causes they connect with the most in 2023 and beyond,” said Jon Nevett, CEO of Public Interest Registry. “.GIVING will create additional avenues through which all types of organizations and individuals can give back and amplify their impact.”

The launch of .GIVING and expansion of the .ORG family of domains marks a step forward in PIR’s strategic plan to fulfill its commitment to serving the public interest online and empowering mission-driven organizations to engage with their communities and advance positive change in the world.

Social enterprises, non-profits of all sizes, corporations with a commitment to CSR, and any other mission-driven entity can purchase .GIVING through accredited registrars listed on PIR’s website. To learn more about .GIVING, visit Start.GIVING. .GIVING: There’s no better place to give.

.GIVING joins PIR’s growing .ORG family of domains, a comprehensive offering of domains for all types of mission-driven organizations, including non-profits, foundations, social enterprises, conscious corporations, and more. In 2022 PIR reintroduced .GIVES, .CHARITY, and .FOUNDATION as part of the .ORG Family of Domains. With the launch of .GIVING, the full PIR portfolio now includes .ORG, .NGO, .ONG, .ORG IDNs, .GIVING, .CHARITY, .FOUNDATION, and .GIVES.

Automation Anywhere and the Center for Humanitarian Technology Launch ‘Telegram for Humanity’ Bot to Aid Refugees in Ukraine

Relief organization automates humanitarian efforts for thousands of families across Ukraine saving hundreds of hours of manual processing each week

DNIPRO, Ukraine and New York, Oct. 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — At Imagine 2022, Automation Anywhere, Inc., the global leader in cloud-native intelligent automation, today announced a collaboration with the Center for Humanitarian Technology (CFHT), a nonprofit that provides technology and operations solutions to humanitarian organizations. Together, Automation Anywhere and CFHT are enabling a greater number of internally displaced people and refugees to receive humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

In collaboration, Automation Anywhere and CFHT created the ‘Telegram for Humanity’ Bot — a customized software bot, or digital worker for Step with Hope (Крок з надією), a Ukrainian humanitarian organization that provides aid to more than 8,000 families each week in combat zones and recently released territories in southern Ukraine.

The ‘Telegram for Humanity’ bot is automating thousands of manual requests for aid with increased speed and accuracy, saving the organization nearly 200 hours of manual processing each week. This is expected to free up Step with Hope’s 96 volunteers across 20 centers to increase their efforts of direct assistance for refugees, providing food, hygiene kits and access to psychologists, lawyers, and child welfare specialists to those in need.

“Members of our volunteer team are refugees themselves, and the ability to help other Ukrainians is our main priority,” said Alla Semenchuk, Operations Director of CFHT. “It’s critical and tremendously challenging work to find and manage the distribution of necessary resources for refugees and internally displaced people. The customized bot that Automation Anywhere and CFHT have built for Step with Hope is both refugee-friendly and volunteer-friendly—it makes application processing quick and transparent, saving human effort and strengthening the organization’s structure.”

As part of its Social Impact Program, Automation Anywhere’s mission is to fuel the future of work by empowering nonprofits and uplifting human lives through automation technology.

“Technology is all about human enablement,” said Neeti Shukla, Social Impact Officer and Co-Founder, Automation Anywhere. “In collaboration with CFHT, we are proud to support this humanitarian effort with life-saving technology that can make a difference to the millions of Ukrainians that have been displaced by conflict.”

“CFHT and Automation Anywhere’s collaboration to build a custom bot for Step with Hope has enabled us to provide humanitarian aid to a greater number of internally displaced people in Ukraine,” said Inna Kampen, Director of Step with Hope. “Our volunteers and the families we serve are enduring the unthinkable. Having a responsive, user-friendly bot to interact with vulnerable families who are requesting help allows the volunteers to use more of their valuable time providing direct support, while spending less time processing and validating requests manually.”

Aboriginal Male Healing Centre’s Holistic Approach Breaks Cycle of Domestic Violence with Data-driven Case Management Solution Built in Western Australia

>> ECINS works with Centre to custom build new client engagement module to establish rehabilitation program for domestic violence offenders with long-term successful outcomes

NEWMAN, Australia, Jan. 20, 2022 — The Aboriginal Male Healing Centre (AMHC), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making an impact on domestic violence and its effect on communities and families, partnered with ECINS, Australia’s most collaborative case management system, to record data, demonstrate results, apply for grants, attract socially enterprising investors, and receive more funding to grow their organisation and support more clients.

Solution built to meet challenges AMHC faced in Western Australia

AMHC’s efforts are focused in Newman, a Western Australian mining town with a large indigenous community. Financial inequality coupled with historical oppression has caused the people of Newman to become vulnerable to poverty, homelessness, alcoholism, drug abuse, and an extremely high incidence of domestic violence. Operating with limited resources, AMHC worked with ECINS to create a solution specifically for the challenges that the organisation was facing.

By deploying the ECINS Client Engagement Module – the mobile application developed in Western Australia – as part of their collaborative case management solution, AMHC recognised a significant increase in its impact.

Streamlining key to successful outcomes for rehabilitation program

"The Client Engagement Module streamlines the whole support process for the participants," said Devon Cuimara, the Chief Executive Officer at AMHC. "Clients are now empowered to take charge of their healing process. We knew if we could give the offender and the family support mechanisms, we could enable them to maintain vigilance."

Equipped with comprehensive statistical data demonstrating their program’s efficacy, AHMC has expanded its services to more people while developing an application for a $40 million government endowment to develop a residential facility to further their support offerings.

Cutting edge innovation helps AMHC secure funding for continued impact

Cuimara continues, "Our partnership with ECINS gives us a competitive advantage and places us at the cutting edge of monitoring and evaluation. This is going to be a significant catalyst in our success in securing funding moving forward."

The results are already evident. The partnership positioned AMHC to enhance their offerings, including a new "walk-up" service that allows people to self-refer into the program.

"Supporting the whole person is essential to the organisation serving the client successfully," explains Thomas Pettengell, ECINS’ Australia Operations Manager. "Our Client Engagement Module was developed right here in Western Australia, and we are thrilled with the ways it’s already helping AMHC more effectively serve their community and expand their capabilities."

About ECINS

ECINS is a not-for-profit social enterprise looking to create a better society by encouraging a smarter, more collaborative way of working across the public and third sectors. Updated NCCN Distress Thermometer and Problem List Helps People Cope with Cancer Symptoms and Treatment

Landmark tool for measuring the psycho-social impact of cancer gets an overhaul to reflect the latest research, helping patients receive better care by addressing their physical and emotional wellbeing.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Dec. 7, 2021 — The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN®)—a nonprofit alliance of leading cancer centers—announces updates to its widely-used resource for enabling discussion and treatment of distress as part of routine care for people with cancer. The NCCN Distress Thermometer and Problem List is a free resource to help providers worldwide identify and address the unpleasant experiences that may make it harder to cope with having cancer, its symptoms, or treatment. The updated version includes the well-regarded thermometer tool alongside a revamped list of possible physical, mental, social, spiritual, and other practical concerns, to allow care teams to recommend specific resources that can provide support.

"Caring for cancer patients’ emotional wellbeing is just as important as addressing their physical symptoms," said Michelle Riba, MD, MS, University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, Chair of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) Panel for Distress Management. "The NCCN Distress Thermometer makes it more viable to assess people’s distress during routine and unexpected doctors’ visits. With this update, we have made the tool even more streamlined and user-friendly while avoiding words that could be stigmatizing."

The NCCN Distress Thermometer was first launched in 1997 to normalize and encourage discussion of distress as a standard part of oncology patient visits. This free resource has been downloaded more than 25,000 times in 2021 throughout more than 100 countries. It has also been translated into more than 50 languages (with updated translations coming soon).

The updates feature an expanded section on spiritual or religious concerns, as well as revisions to the list of social concerns—including a new option for patients to indicate if they are having difficulties communicating with their healthcare team. The simple checklist also includes revisions to the list of practical concerns, specifically new items related to ability to take care of oneself and others.

"Everyone with cancer experiences some distress at some point; it’s normal to feel sad, fearful, and helpless," said Robert W. Carlson, MD, Chief Executive Officer, NCCN. "The amount of distress can be very different from person to person, or in an individual at different points throughout diagnosis and treatment. Addressing the impact of cancer-related distress and various underlying causes can help patients achieve their best possible outcome. The NCCN Distress Thermometer opens up a necessary conversation, and the NCCN Guidelines for Distress Management provide evidence-based expert consensus recommendations for managing concerns."

The NCCN Distress Thermometer is included in the NCCN Guidelines® for Distress Management. It can also be found in the NCCN Guidelines for Patients: Distress During Cancer Care book intended for patients and caregivers, funded by the NCCN Foundation® and sponsored by Good Days. Both are available free-of-charge for non-commercial use at NCCN.org or via Virtual Library of NCCN Guidelines® App.

HONG KONG, Nov. 25, 2021 — The celebration of the 85th Anniversary of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) commenced today with a kick-off ceremony held at the Jockey Club Auditorium.

Under the theme of "We Are PolyU – Together We Excel", more than 600 distinguished guests, alumni, staff and students attended the occasion, which shared the accomplishments the University had made over the years and paid tribute to its supporters.

The 85th Anniversary milestone also represents a time when PolyU is embarking on a new journey aiming to strengthen its position as a leading university with world-class education and research, help Hong Kong shine as a leading innovation and technology hub, and further contribute to a better and more prosperous future for the Nation and the world.

Among the new initiatives in the years to come, the recently established PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR) will spearhead the University’s interdisciplinary research efforts in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, carbon neutrality, deep space exploration, smart cities, and smart energy.

PolyU will also launch new education programmes in emerging technologies to meet the needs of society for interdisciplinary talents, while continuing to work together with the Government, the University Grants Committee and other key partners to nurture the next generation of socially responsible leaders.

The University will further promote and support entrepreneurship through education, seed funding programmes and the "GBA PolyVentures 2025" initiative in partnership with industries and investors to help translate PolyU’s research outcomes into real-world impact.

At Thursday’s ceremony, PolyU’s Orchestra and Choir performed the 85th Anniversary theme song, while current students from around the world performed a joint parade. The ceremony will be followed by a series of distinguished lectures, international conferences, concerts, art and cultural events, and alumni homecoming activities throughout the next twelve months.

Other highlights of the celebration in the coming months include the publication of a book on PolyU’s history edited by Professor Chu Hung-lam, Chair Professor of Chinese Culture of PolyU; the opening of a University history museum; the enhancement of the southern entrance at Core A as the University’s main entrance; and the hosting of an innovation and technology day. An anniversary gala dinner next November will wrap up the celebration on a high note.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mrs Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that PolyU has become a global powerhouse in university education and continues to attract gifted innovation and technology academics from around the world.

Mrs Lam added she fully supported the University’s initiatives to nurture innovation and technology talents and help young entrepreneurs to thrive in the GBA. Regarding PolyU’s plan to establish a new campus in Foshan, Guangdong, she said, "The new campus will, I am confident, spur innovation and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and throughout the Greater Bay Area… I stand ready to offer my support and assistance to PolyU."

The latest Research Assessment Exercise rated 70 percent of PolyU’s research as "world-leading" or "internationally excellent". "We were all thrilled and proud of how the Surface Sampling and Packing System developed by PolyU played a vital part in the Nation’s first lunar sample return mission. This is indeed one of the best testimonies of your leading status in applied research," Tong said.

Both were joined by Mr LIU Guangyuan, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong SAR; Professor TAN Tieniu, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR; Professor JIANG Jianxiang, Director-General of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office; Mr Kevin YEUNG, Secretary for Education; Dr LAM Tai-fai, Council Chairman of PolyU; Professor Jin-Guang TENG, President of PolyU and other University management at the launch ceremony of the year-long celebration.

Professor Teng said that PolyU is devoted to enhancing the long-term competitiveness of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area at the international level. He also said, "Over the years, I have proudly witnessed the development of the institution into a global top 100 university.
