"The requirement for faster, less-invasive wound healing is boosting the demand for advanced wound care solutions," said Suchismita Das, Healthcare & Life Sciences Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "Additionally, the resumption of elective surgeries that were placed on hold during the pandemic will further boost the post-pandemic demand for surgical wound care solutions."

Das added: "As end-users increasingly prefer ‘at-home’ solutions, simple and effective wound monitoring devices and solutions that require less intervention from clinicians are gaining traction. Further, the artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions, sensor-based devices/wearables, and wound assessment devices aid care providers with clinical decision support (CDS) for faster diagnosis of complex wounds, leading to effective care pathways."

Government and corporate funding for developing next-gen wound care solutions that primarily enable early wound detection and prevention is set to increase, presenting the following growth opportunities for market participants:

  • Increased government recommendations for preventive solutions: The need to address the current and future threats of microbial infections and healthcare-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) will benefit healthcare information technology (HIT) companies. They must invest in developing technologically advanced solutions.
  • AI-enabled wound care solutions for faster and accurate diagnosis: HIT companies can leverage AI for innovative, next-gen solutions through partnerships or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Flexible smart bandage with embedded sensors to enable real-time data on healing and medicine delivery: Vendors can partner with or acquire start-ups actively researching and developing such solutions.
  • The use of chitosan can be a game-changer in the wound-healing space: Market participants must broaden their chitosan-based wound care product portfolio because of its quick-healing features for all wound types.

New Accedian Research Finds 76% of Manufacturers Plan to Use Private 5G by 2024

Despite overwhelming inclination, barriers to 5G adoption remain, including high cost, deployment difficulty and management complexity

MONTREAL, Canada, Sept. 29, 2021Accedian, a leader in performance analytics, cybersecurity threat detection and end user experience solutions, today released new analyst research on the future of 5G in manufacturing. Conducted in partnership with Analysys Mason, a leading management consultancy focused on telecoms, media and technology (TMT), the research found that while 76% of manufacturers plan to use private 5G locally by 2024, key barriers to adoption include management complexity, difficulty of deployment and high costs.

Manufacturing holds extreme promise in being transformed through 5G network adoption. As a sector largely reliant on the quality of connections between technologies and machines, 5G can expedite processes, reduce latency, enable automation and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and augmented reality (AR). Most manufacturers agree that high reliability (82%), security (78%) and support for low-latency applications (75%) make a 5G private network an attractive choice.

"5G is set to transform industries, and no sector is more ripe for this than manufacturing," says Sergio Bea, VP of Global Enterprise and Channels, Accedian. "Our research with Analysys Mason clearly shows the appetite for adoption among manufacturers is there, but network performance monitoring and management remain barriers to entry. With the right network monitoring tools, IT teams at factories can be sure they’ll have both the visibility and security they need to make 5G adoption a success."

More than 200 respondents from Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States across six verticals provided insights into private 5G network adoption.

Key highlights from the research include:

  • The most likely types of 5G deployments are: hybrid models (45%) and network slice (35%); while 18% of manufacturing respondents prefer fully private on-prem networks.
  • Security (63%) is the biggest factor influencing the choice of 5G deployment model, followed by network performance (49%), speed/simplicity of deployment (49%), application performance (45%) and data privacy (43%).
  • In terms of barriers to adoption, respondents considering a hybrid network model are most concerned about management complexity (43%).
  • Most agree that important metrics to monitor are application performance KPIs (61%), closely followed by network performance KPIs (59%) and security KPIs (55%).

There is a complex balance of risks and deployment choices that manufacturers will need to make as they move forward with 5G.

"Our research shows there is appetite for 5G in the manufacturing industry, which means there’s also immense opportunity for service providers to uplevel their relationships with factories, as well," says Michele Mackenzie, Principal Analyst, IoT and private networks, Analysys Mason. "CSPs need to capitalize on this momentum to become more than just vendors, but strategic partners to manufacturing organizations looking to navigate the future of the sector."

Medigate and CrowdStrike to Provide Healthcare Organizations with Unified Endpoint Security for Medical IoT Devices

Integration enables comprehensive visibility, enhanced risk management and security enforcement

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Sept. 9, 2021 — Medigate, healthcare’s Best in KLAS IoT Security Provider, today announced it has partnered with CrowdStrike, a leading provider of cloud-delivered endpoint and workload protection, to provide healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs) with the industry’s first consolidated view of threat activity and incident response capability spanning all connected assets.

With the number of medical devices connecting to a hospital’s network increasing on a daily basis, HDOs struggle to maintain visibility of the location and activity of each endpoint that a device may connect to, as well as protect and manage them. Medigate and CrowdStrike solve this challenge by streamlining security responses and improving overall network efficiency.

The CrowdStrike Falcon® platform integrates with the Medigate platform allowing HDOs to perform comprehensive risk management, anomaly detection and enhanced response. The integration provides hospitals with comprehensive visibility into all managed and unmanaged devices along with enhanced threat detection capabilities that power accurate responses.

"We’ve seen a significant number of cyber and ransomware attacks against hospitals in the past year and it will only continue to rise in the future. A hospital’s focus needs to be on patient care, rather than responding to outside threats," said Matthew Polly, vice president of Worldwide Alliances, Channels and Business Development. "Medigate’s unique focus on the healthcare IoT industry is highly effective in helping to reduce attack surfaces. With CrowdStrike and Medigate, HDOs can accurately see, detect, respond and prevent attacks across the IT and clinical landscape to keep their operations and their data – including the patient information – safe."

"Today’s HDOs face specific challenges that need specialized solutions, not only in securing their vital personnel and devices, but in creating processes that ensure the benefits of connected health. By partnering with CrowdStrike, we are delivering on this vision by empowering HDOs to detect and shut-down attacks," said Jonathan Langer, chief executive officer of Medigate. "The endpoint protections our joint solution enables positions HDOs for the safe adoption of telehealth, remote patient monitoring and other networked care initiatives."

Todd Felker, former Director of Information Security at Torrance Memorial Medical Center: "As care delivery continues to fragment, the need for a centrally managed, integrated approach to securing both clinical and non-clinical endpoints is obvious. That’s why the Medigate/CrowdStrike partnership makes so much sense. I’m sure my enthusiasm for the benefits of this partnership are shared across the industry."

For more details on the Medigate and CrowdStrike partnership, check out the "Endpoint Security for Clinical Networks" solution brief.

About Medigate
Connected devices bring complicated risks, so Medigate created a simple platform to orchestrate and augment HDO security. Medigate gives the confidence to see, secure, and manage all the devices connected to the enterprise network and turn the associated data into a powerful resource for asset management and operational efficiency. It means the end of any compromise between security and usability – put simply, it allows HDOs to connect with confidence.

Perkbox reimagines global reward and benefits for the post-pandemic world

LONDON, Aug. 18, 2021Perkbox, the global benefits and reward platform, today announces its new offering to help employers care for, connect with, and celebrate their people around the world.

The new location agnostic Perkbox platform enables employers to harmonise their global employee experience and create cost and time efficiencies, while delivering bespoke wellbeing, recognition, and engagement offerings to each employee. Perkbox already supports over 5,000 businesses and more than 600,000 users across more than 34 countries.

The new platform launch comes as HR leaders worldwide grapple with a unique set of circumstances, brought about, or accelerated, by the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Employee wellbeing is in freefall. Nine in ten employees faced new wellbeing challenges in 2020[1], as burnout from balancing work and life becomes a greater issue
  • The employee/employer relationship is changing. Work from home-induced introspection has left many people looking for more from their employer and work.
  • International, distributed working models are on the rise. Hybrid and remote working are making it more difficult to create a clear and attractive organisational culture across multiple locations.
  • There’s a new talent landscape. New ways of working have also unlocked a truly international pool of talent, giving businesses the option to recruit from anywhere in the world.

In response, Perkbox’s reimagined, unified platform helps HR leaders create a stronger employee value proposition, built around caring for, connecting with, and celebrating employees, wherever they’re based.

Employees can access the platform via web or a powerful single app. It’s organised into four ‘hubs’, each offering support in a key area, and integrates seamlessly with existing single sign on (SSO) and human resources information systems (HRIS) – creating a frictionless experience for both employees and HR administrators.

Wellness hub. Supporting employees’ wellbeing is vital in itself, and it boosts retention and engagement.[2] The Wellness hub enables employers to meaningfully support this area by providing access to carefully curated, constantly updated wellbeing content. Employees can choose what works for them – from hypnosis and therapy audios to HIIT workouts and meditation guides.

Perks hub. Perks hub enables employers to overcome the stifling complexity of the global benefits market, while providing employees with the huge variety of global deals, discounts and benefits needed to fulfil individual requirements. There is also the option for employers to offer a monthly ‘Flexi points’ allowance. Employees can redeem these, at no cost to themselves, against a wide range of ‘Flexi Perks’, from coffees and entertainment subscriptions to mindfulness apps – and much more.

Celebration hub. Building a culture of appreciation can help drive motivation and engagement.  Celebration hub helps strengthen the connections between all employees and employers, regardless of location, by enabling leaders to visibly recognise and reward their people in a personalised way. Recognitions can also be linked to company values – helping businesses reward behaviours that embody what they stand for.

Culture hub. This helps create cultural alignment and a greater sense of togetherness across all parts of the business, by providing a single source for news and company initiatives.  It reduces reliance on leaders in each location to cascade information – saving their time and that of HR leaders.

Gautam Sahgal, CEO, Perkbox comments: "Organisations are becoming increasingly diverse – with people of different demographics spread across different geographies. This is presenting HR leaders with a two-pronged challenge: how to create a clear, common, and compelling culture for the evolving, international workforce. And how to create a reward and benefits offering that provides genuine value to everybody, wherever they are.

"We want Perkbox to be the simple, cost-effective answer to the global challenges and opportunities the new age of work poses. The platform is the result of an incredibly in-depth investigation into what our clients truly want from us. We took the time to ask HR leaders why they chose Perkbox and, in today’s working world, the ability to harmonise wellbeing, recognition and engagement across markets was seen as vital. This is the strategic imperative to help organisations attract, retain and inspire the talent they need to succeed."

About Perkbox

Perkbox is the global benefits and rewards platform that allows companies to care for, connect with and celebrate their employees, no matter where they are and what they want. Location agnostic, it supports over 5,000 businesses and more than 600,000 users across 34 countries and counting.

Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority’s WED Movement Engages Global Experts to Drive Innovation, Excellence in Early Childhood Development

ABU DHABI, UAE, Aug. 17, 2021Abu Dhabi’s World Early Childhood Development Movement (WED Movement) has launched a new initiative bringing together global experts to develop innovative and actionable solutions advancing Abu Dhabi’s vision to be a leader in Early Childhood Development.

Cecilia Vaca Jones, Executive Director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, and Chair of the BWG
Cecilia Vaca Jones, Executive Director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, and Chair of the BWG

WED Movement was established earlier this year under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA). Under ECA, WED Movement is harnessing the expertise of a multidisciplinary group of 21 early child development experts representing a mix of academics, healthcare practitioners, policy influencers, children’s media and entertainment specialists, global business leaders and technical consultants. The experts come from several world-renowned institutions such as UNICEF, World Bank, UNESCO and Harvard University, as well as a number of global companies in technology and entertainment.

Participants are working in one of three Breakthrough Working Groups (BWGs), each focused on a unique and important aspect of how children’s mental, physical and cognitive abilities develop in the earliest years of life, from pregnancy to 8 years old. The BWGs are focused on Emotional Wellbeing & Social Interaction, Tech Humanity for Children, and 21st Century Lifestyle.

To date the BWGs have held nearly 100 strategic planning sessions and met with more than 65 parents, children, teachers and ECD experts in the UAE as part of their work towards creation of a series of innovative solutions that promote the holistic healthy development of Abu Dhabi’s young children. These solutions will also help parents and caregivers address some of the most common challenges faced during the earliest years of child growth and development. Outcomes from these sessions include policy recommendations, creation of specific programs and initiatives, development of products, as well as guidelines to address the identified issues.

Team members are coordinating directly with a range of government and social service entities, including Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development, Abu Dhabi Department of Health, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge and Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. They also have commissioned independent research on such issues as child screen time, technology use in the home, play time and social interaction.

WED Movement and the work of the BWGs reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to deliver on its vision to invest in breakthrough innovation in early childhood development with the goal of nurturing a generation of conscious youth who have the knowledge and skills to adapt to rapidly changing societal challenges and contribute to building a better society. The BWGs aim to play a significant role driving the level of innovation needed while helping establish Abu Dhabi as a global role model for and contributor to excellence in early childhood development.

The BWGs work under the guidance of Cecilia Vaca Jones, Executive Director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, and Chair of the BWG, alongside His Excellency Omar Saif Ghobash, Assistant Minister for Cultural Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), and Co-Chair of the BWG.

Chair Cecilia Vaca-Jones said: "This Breakthrough Working Group approach enables us to tap into a global collection of world-class early childhood development experts with a single mission and focus: helping Abu Dhabi create the best possible environment to give our children the opportunity in life each and every one deserves. And these new programs, policies and initiatives that we pioneer here at home can become models for early childhood development that are adopted in nations around the world."

The BWGs are currently researching and assessing issues as well as exploring potential solutions related to the following themes:

  • Emotional Wellbeing and Social Interaction: Creating an ecosystem that can help reduce emotional strains on children, parents and caregivers while promoting continuous interactions with children that help them establish important social interaction skills at early ages.
  • Tech Humanity for Children: Looking at how to ensure that children are ready for the rapidly growing level of technology in their lives and are well aware of and protected from risks in order to best reap the many benefits these new technologies offer.
  • 21st Century Lifestyle: Fostering an Abu Dhabi-wide environment that promotes a better lifestyle at home, in school and across the community and facilitates positive physical and mental health of children.

Co-Chair H.E. Omar Saif Ghobash said: "These themes represent both challenges and opportunities for fostering early childhood development not only in Abu Dhabi but across the UAE and worldwide. Through this team of experts and the BWG approach, we will look to generate recommended programs, policies and initiatives that can have a positive impact across the early childhood development ecosystem on behalf of our children, including parents and caregivers, academia, government policymakers, social support groups and the private sector."

Dr. Nikki Martyn, Program Head of Early Childhood Studies at the University of Guelph-Humber and a member of the one of the BWGs said: "Being a part of WED Movement is a truly unique opportunity to take the learnings and experiences of early childhood development experts from around the world and develop initiatives and recommendations that can quickly be put in place to directly benefit the children of Abu Dhabi. Over the longer term, we hope to see the outcomes of WED Movement work benefitting children around the world."

The Global Self-Care Federation Highlights the Need to Take Action on Self-Care to Create Better Health Outcomes for All

GENÈVE, Switzerland, July 23, 2021 — On the occasion of International Self-Care Day 2021 and WHO Self-Care month, The Global Self-Care Federation (GSCF) underscores the importance of acting on self-care by engaging in positive and consistent self-care practices. Self-care produces overwhelming long-term benefits for your personal health, while alleviating resources for the most vulnerable. Adopting good self-care habits beyond the pandemic is one of the best ways we can continue to protect ourselves, our communities and our healthcare professionals.

GSCF’s 2021 International Self-Care Day campaign focuses on the #SelfCarePromise theme, encouraging people to actively take control of their own health by making a personal commitment to embrace a specific self-care action.

"We’re delighted to see so many people make self-care promises to, for example, better monitor their own health, increase their daily activity or improve their own health literacy," said Judy Stenmark, Director General, GSCF. "We are seeing that people truly want to manage their own health, particularly during the pandemic. It is essential that we provide them with the adequate knowledge and resources to do so, which will help us to build more resilient health systems."

Part of this will involve strengthening policy frameworks to ensure they are coherent and fully support self-care. GSCF’s forthcoming ‘Self-Care Readiness Index’ due to be published in September, will serve as a practical tool for self-care advocates to better understand and recognize the critical enablers of self-care, and help countries to integrate self-care into their national health policies.

Read GSCF’s policy statement calling for the integration of self-care into the healthcare continuum.

MedPharm Implements the Peregrine Connect NetSuite PSA Add-in for Microsoft Project to Accurately Forecast Revenue and Cut Manual Labor by 80%

IRVINE, Calif., July 21, 2021 — Peregrine Connect’s NetSuite PSA Add-in for Microsoft Project has been selected by MedPharm to forecast its revenue recognition for ongoing and completed business projects.  MedPharm is a world-leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) providing topical and transdermal product design and development services, delivering robust and innovative research to develop approved pharmaceutical products.

MedPharm’s Obstacle
MedPharm’s challenge was that their projects can be very lengthy and complex from a scheduling standpoint. They used Microsoft Project early on as their project scheduling tool and to understand segments of their business from a cost standpoint. When they chose to switch their existing ERP system to NetSuite PSA it was essential to leave Microsoft Project in place and seamlessly integrate with it.  Attempting to build out the Microsoft Project functionality into NetSuite PSA would be impractical, time consuming and cost prohibitive.

"The game changer was that other vendors said "Yes, we think we can do it," but NetSuite told us that Peregrine Connect has "Already done it!" said Andrew McWaters, VP of IT, MedPharm.

Peregrine Connect’s NetSuite PSA Helps Overcome Complexity to Increase Operational Efficiency
MedPharm’s solution was to utilize Peregrine Connect for its expertise in Microsoft and integration experience. Peregrine Connect was able to provide its existing NetSuite PSA Add-in tool to synchronize with Microsoft Project. Implementing the NetSuite PSA Add-in to Microsoft Project was completed in less than three months, which met MedPharm’s aggressive timeline. MedPharm was extremely satisfied with the resources provided to them during the implementation phase, noting that Peregrine Connect’s support team was a huge part of their success.

"The support we received from Peregrine Connect has been over the top, and I’ve been in software for over 30 years. It’s been extremely refreshing to see!" said Andrew McWaters, VP of IT, MedPharm.

Business Values:

  • Cut manual labor by 80% to determine revenue recognition
  • Automated revenue forecast process saving MedPharm close to 100k a year
  • Dramatic time savings for Project Management and Accountant teams
  • Project Managers and Accountant can accurately forecast monthly revenue by over two weeks
  • Increased overall productivity and reduced labor, resulting in doubling of their EBITDA
