Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link Coming to Mobile

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link, the latest instalment in Square’s hit RPG series, is making its way to Android and iOS devices. It’s set to go in 2024, with no definite date just yet. This mobile RPG will add to the Kingdom Hearts story with a new plot and play style.

image

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link isn’t an augmented reality (AR) game like Pokemon GO but it still uses real-world places in its gameplay. The game uses your smartphone’s GPS to determine where you are on the in-game map. This lets the player explore the virtual world based on where they are in real life. The announcement video teases that you might be able to “travel the world without leaving your house” which would be a new twist in the game systems.

While there is very little information on the game’s plot, Square Enix has been recruiting beta testers for a closed beta program. There are 3,000 spots available split between Android and iOS users. For iOS, the closed beta phase lasts from November 29 to December 8. The Android beta will start in January 2024.

KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link Teaser Trailer

The story takes place in the city of Scala and Caelum, which fans of Kingdom Hearts III will be familiar with. Players take on the part of a main character who has no name and moves between Scala and Caelum and the real world. Real-time fighting and interactions with Disney characters are hinted at through the teaser trailers available on Square Enix’s Official YouTube Channel.

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link was first presented at the event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, along with Kingdom Hearts IV. Currently, there is no announcement on the date for either game released.

Play As Son Goku, Vegeta or Piccolo in the New Version 2.7 Update for PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile has been on a roll lately with its updates. The new version 2.7 update also marks a new content collaboration with the popular anime franchise Dragon Ball – more specifically with the latest installation in the long-running anime Dragon Ball Super. The new content partnership will see two new additional modes in PUBG Mobile and kicks off on 13th July and will run until September 4th 2023.

PUBGM x Dragonball KV

Shenron, Ki & Dragon Balls Reimagine Gameplay

During this time, players can take part in a new Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode where they will have to search for the seven Dragon Balls to reign supreme. The new mode will happen in-game and will continue to have PUBG Mobile’s signature PvP battle royale gameplay. Upon collecting the seven sacred spheres, players will be able to summon Shenron at the Shenron Summoning Altar for powerful in-game buffs. The altar is also the cornerstone of a new hidden Dragon Ball trial where you’ll need to gather all seven balls, defend the altar and make a wish; all while being completely exposed to your enemies. Yep – they’ll be able to see your every move!

There are also four new Dragon Ball Super areas in-game, more specifically in the Erangel, Livik and Sanhok areas. The Dragon Ball Village”, “Tenkaichi Budokai”, “Kame House”, and “Karin Tower” areas will look familiar to Dragon Ball Super aficionados as they’re built to resemble areas and the architecture from the series. What’s more, they’ll have goodies that may just come in useful in your quest for that Chicken Dinner. You can even ride the Air Car to traverse the battlegrounds.

PUBG Mobile’s version 2.7 update also comes with a new “Ki” component which allows players to gather “Ki” for increased mobility. You’ll even be able to use the legendary skill – “Kamehameha” – to make quick work of your enemies.

PUBG Mobile Goes Full Dragon Ball Super

PUBG Mobile will also be taking things a step further as it adopts the signature animated art style of Dragon Ball Super. The stylistic change will take place between July 15 and September 4th 2023. During this time, players will be able to play as Son Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo and Ultimate Gohan complete with their signature moves in their quest to be the last one standing.

As part of this brand-new mode, you will be able to gather Spirit Crystlets and Spirit Crystals from the ground to restore energy and upgrade your moves with a cap at Level 4. In addition, you’ll be able to traverse and manipulate the map with a variety of new features such as Teleport Points and Updraft.

There will also be exclusive outfits during this collaboration which feature Goku, Vegeta and Frieza and even companions Pilaf and Karin. But that’s not all, Tencent Games is teasing even more coming on August 14, 2023.

[RAZERCON 2022] Razer Announces Razer Edge with 5G to Take on the Steamdeck

The biggest thing that has happened to gaming for the past few years is not really the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X. They are great, they are revolutionary, but they are rather regular and expected. You still need to be sat in one location and get it plugged to a display to fully enjoy them. The most important thing that has happened in gaming over the past few years is portable gaming, or mobile gaming.

What really started this handheld gaming phenomena is not really the smartphone. It is more to do with Nintendo’s Switch. Later, Steamdeck revolutionized the handheld gaming space again bringing the entire strength of Steam’s gaming library for PC games to a handheld device no bigger than a hard cover Harry Potter book.

Then Razer comes along with the Razer Edge. The Razer Edge is unique, not really a Nintendo Switch with exclusive titles. It is not exactly a Steamdeck competitor in the hardware space as well.

Razer Edge 5G render 2
Source: Razer

Where the Steamdeck is powered by a swatch of PC like parts, AMD’s Zen 3 CPU with integrated GPU, for example, the Edge is made more like a smartphone. It is powered by Qualcomm’s snapdragon G3x Gen 1 platform. That is also an exclusive for Razer, the most powerful integrated processing chip that Qualcomm can produce at this time clocking up to 3GHz on it eight-core Kryo design.

It makes plenty of sense though the Razer Edge is not made to be a smartphone. It is made purely for gaming on the go and to be the best at it. But since it is Qualcomm, there is some smartphone qualities about the handheld device. You get to opt for 5G connectivity for example, so you can technically game anywhere you want to game. You also get WiFi 6E, which is technically still a brand-new technology even for the PC space.

If display quality is what you are looking for, the Steamdeck and Nintendo Switch has nothing on this handheld. It packs a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that refreshes at 144Hz boasting Full HD+ (2400 x 1080). It is technically the most advance display you can find on any handheld device in its class.

So, what can a handheld device that is built purely for gaming with smartphone class hardware can do? It can run on Android, obviously. In that case, you can play Android games like PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends Bang Bang. It also comes with Epic Games Launcher app out-of-the-box which also means that it will run games like Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe with no issue.

It is not just made for mobile games though. It is designed with cloud gaming in mind too. So, if you have and active subscription on Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming and you want to take them out to the world, you can.

That is not all though. While you will not be able to install PC games directly on your Razer Edge, you still can play them. The Razer Edge is the only handheld gaming device out there that comes with the ability to play Steam games at 144Hz via Steam Link remote play. You also get access to Moonlight, and Parsec. We are guessing that Razer might get PlayStation remote play available on the Razer Edge soon too. Sure, you want to be constantly connected to the internet, that is why you might want to get yourselves the 5G variant.

The Razer Edge is technically just an integrated handheld device that works like a smartphone. You can detach it from the new Razer Kishi V2 Pro that it will come with. That also means that you can even use the controllers with your smartphone, if you like. But then again, you would want to be using your Razer Edge for all your games.

The Razer Edge will be available only in the United States for now January 2023 onward. It will only be available in stores and Razer.com in its WiFi only variant at launch. Yes, there will also be a 5G variant as we mentioned, but it will only be available later and exclusively from Verizon. The WiFi variant of the Razer Edge will retail for US$ 399.99 (MYR 1,885*) at launch. Unfortunately, there are no mentions on its availability and official pricing in other regions currently. Diablo Immortal Gears Up for June Release in Southeast Asia – Welcome back to the World Of Sanctuary

“Hello my friend, stay a while and listen…”

Those are the immortal words that many who have ventured into the world of Sanctuary hear in their minds. The words string together an epic, gothic journey to save a small town which then turned into a quest to save the world.

Diablo Immortal is, perhaps, the most contentious entry into the long running series by Blizzard. The game was overshadowed by anticipation for a follow up to Diablo 3. However, hot on the heels of the announcement of the much anticipated Diablo 4, the doors of Sanctuary are now opening once again. Diablo Immortal will be debuting globally on 2 June 2022.

Diablo Immortal | Release Date & PC Announce Trailer

However, Southeast Asia will have to wait a few weeks until 23 June 2022. According to Blizzard, the is needed “to better optimise the player experience by setting up dedicated game servers for the region”. The game will be available in Malaysia, Macau, Philippines, Taiwan Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Thailand on iOS, Android and PC. However, it will only be available on PC in Vietnam at the time of launch. Pre-registered users will receive the Horadrim Cosmetic Set at launch. The game also supports cross play and cross progression between platforms.

The game takes place between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 after the shattering of the World Stone. With Tyrael presumed dead and the World Stone shattered, Sanctuary is thrown into chaos. The powerful fragments of the World Stone are now littered across the world, tainting Sanctuary. Diablo’s hordes of minions are seeking that power to bring the Lord of Terror back. It falls to the player, a nephalem, to stop them.

Players will be able to play as one of six classes in Diablo Immortal – Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer or Wizard – as they embark on a journey through eight different zones and the great city of Westmarch. You will come across many familiar faces in your journey including the wise sage, Deckard Cain as you venture to gather the shattered pieces of the World Stone before the forces of the Burning Hells.

Unlike other entries in the Diablo franchise, Diablo Immortal is a Massively Multiplayer Online Action Role-Playing Game (MMOARPG) with a social experience that is totally new to the franchise. Players will now be able to interact with others in a massive world. You will be able to form Warbands and take on intense Helliquary raid bosses and even join Clans with up to 150 other players to unlock Clan achievements. You’ll even be able to test your strength as you vie for the Eternal Crown in the Cycle of Strife with brutal 1v30 showdowns as you defend the crown.

“Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” Has Cast Its Last Charm

Niantic, the studio behind Pokemon GO, has just announced that it will be shuttering its AR Harry Potter game. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was the studio’s second foray into creating real-world AR games for a large franchise. The game debuted back in 2019 hot off the heels of Pokemon GO.

However, it looks like the Harry Potter game isn’t fairing as well as its predecessor. The company announced that wizards and witches still immersed in the game will be casting their last spell on January 31, 2022. The game will be delisted from the Google Play Store, App Store and Galaxy Store come December 6, 2021. In-app purchases will be disabled on the same day. The first few changes have come into effect on November 2, 2021. This includes increased rewards, quicker brewing times and increased spell energy and ingredient spawns.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite players will have until January 31, 2022, to complete the game and use up their in-game items. Niantic notes that beyond this date, players will be unable to access anything from the game as servers will be taken offline. Kohai Looks To Spur eSports Interest By Allowing Amateurs to Train with the Pros

ESports has been on an upward trend when it comes to popularity – having recently been inducted as part of the Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA). It is already being considered for the 2028 Olympics. That said, the momentum is even more apparent at the grassroots level with even more people gaining taking an interest either as a spectator or professional.

As interest mounts, we’re seeing an increase in companies investing in the space – and not just in developing new, thrilling eSports games; we’re also seeing a new wave of apps and services geared to complementing the arena. The most recent of these apps is one called Kohai, a new, homegrown, Malaysian app that looks to allow newbies and gamers to interact more directly with the Pros – more specifically – to learn from them.

If you’re an otaku or watch any Japanese media, you’d be familiar with the term “kohai” or “kouhai” which is usually used to refer to proteges or juniors. Building on this kohai-senpai relationship, IWG eSports is looking to create a platform where everyday enthusiasts can hone their skills with the Pros. Kohai is looking to push the local Malaysian eSports scene further by essentially providing training grounds for eSports hopefuls.

The platform is focused on allowing hopefuls to hone their gameplay and strategy under the wing of a Pro. This leans on the kohai-senpai dynamic which is its namesake. On Kohai, the Gamers (kohai) are able to connect and train with Partners (senpai) regardless of their level. Parters are game experts or professionals who have a proven track record or in-game tier.

Of course, it’s not a free-for-all as Kohai can also be a viable stream of income for partners as the platform uses a play-to-earn model. To do this, users will need to register via the Kohai Partner App where their profiles and details will be verified before they are allowed to activate their account. Given that it is a form of work, users registering as Kohai Partners will need to be 16 years or older.

Naturally, this means that gamers looking to learn will be subject to a pay-to-learn model. On the platform, Gamers will be able to train to reach specific milestones with a Partner. From as low as MYR10 per hour, Gamers will be able to up their game with coaching from Partners. This can be done on an ad-hoc basis (referred to as Real-Time Gaming Sessions) or Scheduled sessions. Gamers will be able to book these sessions via the Kohai Gamer app.

To kick things off, Kohai is focusing on two of the most popular eSports games on mobile – Mobile Legend Bang Bang (MLBB) and PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile. It is also partnering with the popular eSports team GeekFam. Members of the team will be on the platform as Partners where Gamers can play, learn or train with them. In addition, Kohai has also kicked off its own tournament – the Kohai Championships – for MLBB. The tourney started on 4th September and will be concluding on 26th September 2021. It features 64 teams battling each other for a total prize pool of MYR11,000.00.

The launch comes after a public beta where Kohai has been utilized successfully by 43,000 individuals. The company is looking to the future to build its 43,000 strong community and to branch to other platforms such as PC and Console in the near future.
