Under the theme of ‘Shaping the future of mobility space,’ LG Display will present its innovative automotive technologies for global automakers and auto parts companies in Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) to further accelerate its order-based business for automotive display solutions optimized for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

Also known as ‘smartphones on wheels,’ SDVs are associated with ‘screenification,’ a concept that refers to the increase in the number of automotive displays within a vehicle as various vehicle control and infotainment features continue to advance.

LG Display will showcase various large-sized automotive display solutions that completely cover the vehicle’s dashboard, leveraging differentiated technologies such as P-OLED, Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), and LTPS (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) LCD.

The ultra-high-resolution P-OLED features a flexible plastic substrate for a lightweight and flexible panel. ATO, on the other hand, utilizes glass substrates to offer the core strength of automotive OLED at a more competitive price point. In addition, LTPS LCD is a high-performance panel that enables larger and higher-resolution displays compared to existing LCDs.

LG Display will also introduce its safety enhancement solution, ‘Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM),’ which automatically adjusts the display’s viewing angle away from the driver’s line of sight to keep their eyes focused on the road. When active, content such as movies or games being displayed on the front passenger’s side is diverted away from the driver’s side so that only the passenger can watch it.

Furthermore, the company will also present solutions that offer new driving experiences while maximizing space efficiency within the limited confines of a vehicle, such as Slidable and Foldable OLEDs installed in the back of seats that can be hidden away or extended for use on demand.

ERS electronic introduces “High Power Dissipation” Thermal Chuck System, which can dissipate up to 2.5kW at -40°C for Embedded Processors, DRAM and NAND wafer test


MUNICH, Nov. 14, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — ERS electronic, the industry leader in the market of thermal management solutions for semiconductor manufacturing, is introducing its latest “High Power Dissipation” Thermal Chuck System. The technology enables accurate and powerful temperature control of a DUT while performing tests of high-end CPUs, GPUs, and high parallelism DRAM devices in the temperature range between -60°C and +200°C.

During temperature wafer probing of complex embedded processors, such as CPUs and GPUs for machine learning, artificial intelligence or data centers, and high parallelism tests, like DRAM and NAND, a very large amount of power needs to be dissipated to avoid overheating. ERS’s new “High Power Dissipation” System can dissipate wattage up to 2.5kW at -40°C on a 300 mm chuck, thereby allowing the testing of single dies as well as tests with full wafer contact. As an added option, the system comes with an industry-best temperature uniformity of ±0.2°C at -40°C, going down to even ±0.1°C between -20°C and +85°C, making it ideal for the testing of sensors.

The thermal chuck consists of several sections that can be controlled individually, thanks to ERS’s patented PowerSense software. When power is applied to the wafer, it immediately detects the increasing heat and reacts quickly by cooling down the affected area.
To achieve the lightning-fast dissipation coupled with the high temperature uniformity, ERS’s new thermal chuck system comes with a chiller cooled with liquid instead of air.

CIIE leads global development to new, bright prospects

BEIJING, Nov. 5, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — A report from People’s Daily: The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from Nov. 5 to 10.

The Palmetto Plant employs over 150 people, including skilled manufacturing associates and seasoned industry specialists leading the company’s North American operations.

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Korean dry etching specialized company, Vault Creation Co., Ltd., has announced that it will start selling FMM for smartphones with a resolution of 500ppi, which is an essential component of mobile displays, to demand companies and research institutes that need it from September 1, 2023.

Until now, FMM-related companies worldwide have invested astronomical resources exclusively in Japan to develop high-resolution FMM for smartphones. However, it is true that encountered technical limitations without providing practical results.

In this situation, Vault Creation, a South Korea company, which announced its entry into the market, has a golden opportunity to reshape the global FMM industry. As a venture established less than a decade ago in South Korea, Vault Creation has succeed in implementing the world’s best resolution after seven years of research and showed its amazing ability to build mass production facilities in a short time.

FMM(Fine Metal Mask) is a mask used to form Red(R), Green(G), and Blue(B) subpixels in small and medium-sized OLED panels and is a key material in the OLED deposition process. The microring mirroring is uniform and cross-sectional angles, step height, and location precision are required because the deposited organic matter serves as a major component that allows precise deposition only in the TFT(Thin Film Transistor) pixel area. No defects, such as appearance deformation, imprinting, clogging, or sticking, are allowed.

Accordingly, FMM-related companies around the world, including Korea, Mainland China, Japan, and Taiwan have invested heavily in the development of high-resolution FMM using methods like wet or electroplating etching. However, up until now, no company has succeeded in achieving mass production for the market, and supplying or selling to demand sources was simply not possible. This situation has led to complete dependence on Japan for FMM.

Especially, FMM for OLED used in smartphone panel production has been produced by companies such as TOPPAN in Japan and Darwin in Taiwan. However, in practice, a Japanese company DNP(Dai Nippon Printing) has effectively monopolized the global market for OLED FMM.

Since 2015, Vault Creation has developed its own ‘Ion Beam Dry Etching Technology’ to secure global intellectual property and completed FMM development 2 years ago using a low-temperature process, and until recently, it has been confirmed that it has advanced technology for mass production.

The ion beam dry etching technology developed by Vault Creation stands out from another etching process like wet etching or electroplating. It allows etching without damaging the material and leaves no residual impurities. Moreover, using the advantages of dry etching, they claim to be able to manufacture according to the specifications of customers in terms of etching angles and shapes, as required.
