The Venu 3 series comes in two sizes: the Venu 3 with a 45mm case and the Venu 3S with a 41mm case. While they may vary in size, both models offer exceptional features to cater to your individual needs.

One standout feature of the Venu 3 series is its battery life. In smartwatch mode, the Venu 3 boasts an impressive 14 days of battery life, allowing you to wear it day and night without the hassle of nightly charging. The Venu 3S, although slightly smaller, still offers a substantial 10 days of battery life.

Both models include Garmin’s advanced sleep-tracking features. The Sleep Coach feature provides you with a personalized sleep score and coaching recommendations based on your sleep patterns, exercise routines, and recovery data. Additionally, these smartwatches can automatically detect and track your naps, ensuring you get a comprehensive view of your sleep quality.

One of the most noteworthy additions is the Wheelchair mode, a feature tailored for users in wheelchairs. This mode tracks daily pushes and offers insights into weight shifting, providing valuable data for those with mobility challenges. Animated on-wrist workouts specifically designed for wheelchair users are also included.

The Venu 3 series is loaded with fitness insights, allowing you to better understand your body’s needs. You’ll receive a detailed overview of sleep, recovery, heart rate variability (HRV) status, and more through the morning report. These insights help you make informed decisions about your daily activities and exercise routines.

Customizing your workouts is made easy with the ability to create custom interval workouts for running and cycling directly on the watch. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just starting your fitness journey, these features cater to all levels of fitness enthusiasts.

Satellite Emergency SOS May Be Coming to Google Messages Thanks to a Partnership with Garmin

Google looks to be gearing up to join the league of life-saving services with the inclusion of satellite-based messaging in Google Messages. With Apple already offering satellite-based Emergency SOS, the company is reportedly teaming up with Garmin to bring a similar feature to Android devices through the upcoming Android 14 update.

Neil Rahmouni, a tech enthusiast, unearthed intriguing clues within Google Messages’ code, hinting at the integration of satellite messaging support. While not officially confirmed, Rahmouni’s findings suggest a possible collaboration with Garmin, a well-known wearable brand.

Garmin is renowned for its extensive satellite communication products and services, including emergency SOS options available across over 150 countries and all seven continents. If Google joins forces with Garmin, its Android 14-powered Emergency SOS could potentially outshine Apple’s offering, which is limited to a few countries.

However, Rahmouni wisely urges caution against excessive speculation until Google officially announces the partnership and its features. As Android 14’s release approaches, anticipation mounts over the precise connectivity options and satellite messaging capabilities it will introduce. Despite Google’s confirmation of satellite communication integration in Android 14, key details such as availability and supported devices remain undisclosed.

Garmin Releases Their Most Affordable Smartwatches Yet – the Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music Edition

When we say affordable, you want to take it with a pinch of salt. The new Garmin Venu Sq2 will set you back at least MYR 1,230 still. The Music Edition will set you an extra MYR 250 on top of the regular smartwatch. While it is the most accessible Garmin smartwatch, it is not the cheapest smartwatch you can find out there.

No matter though, this is currently the most affordable Garmin wristwear you can find to date. It may be affordable, but it is still feature packed enough that you are not going to feel like you missed out on the Garmin experience.

It still packs a heart rate tracker, one of the most accurate out there if it is the same one you find on other Garmin watches. Alongside the heartrate tracker are over 25 specific sports mode tracking, that includes running and walking. If you are into running, there is a personal running coach with training plans. Alongside those features, the Garmin Venu Sq 2 packs a sleep monitoring feature, which should be quite standard for most fitness trackers today. There is also specific health tracker for women’s menstrual cycle or pregnancy via the Garmin Connect app.

All of these can be viewed via a square 1.4-inch AMOLED display that is colourful and bright even in the outdoors. If you are the type that is hardly into wearing heavy wristwear, you might hardly notice this one with its lightweight aluminium construction. Within the body is a battery that Garmin claims to last up to 12 days at a time.

Yes, there is a Music Edition for the Garmin Venu Sq, just like the Forerunner series. There are no fundamental design changes from the Music Edition to the regular square smartwatch. It allows you to store up to 500 songs on the watch itself though, including your favourite work out and running playlists on your Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer. That way, you may not even need to bring your smartphone out with you for your runs and work out sessions so that you can just focus.

Garmin Releases the Edge 1040 Solar in Malaysia for MYR 3,699 – Unfortunately it Does Still Need Charging in Malaysia

In the climate that is Malaysia, you get sunlight all year round. That also means that Malaysia is rather prime for solar technology. We kind of think that every gadget in Malaysia should include an option for solar charging.

While it is rather hot in Malaysia, outdoor activities are also rather popular in Malaysia. Well, we do have to live with it most of the time. It is either hot clear skies, or the rain, and we do prefer the former when we want to have outdoor activities.

When you want to buy a tracker for your outdoor activities, you want a Garmin, quite undoubtedly. Garmin does not just make plain ol’ fitness trackers. They make specific stuffs for all kinds of specific activities. They range from Golf, Running, Trekking, even driving. They also make cycling computers now. They make the Garmin Edge 1040 Solar, made specifically for cyclists.

Technically, the Edge 1040 is not a wearable. Rather, you attach it to your bike, and it collects all kinds cycling specific data for your reference on Garmin Connect app as well. It collects navigation data to create or highlight trails. It even tells you if there are popular routes for you to take from data collected from other cyclists. Of course, the Garmin is still a navigation tool, so with GPS it will still help you navigate through routes and helps you by notifying you off sharp bends ahead. There are differing training modes as well that puts the VO2 Max data against your body’s response to help you determine how best to take on trails. The Edge 1040 can even collect elevation data with ClimbPro. If you are into mountain biking, the Edge 1040 can even collect data like jump count, jump distance, and even hang time.

While it does add a little bit of weight to your bicycle, it can also act as your safety net. It allows its user to stay connected and tracked accurately via GPS. It features incident detection functions. Once detected, the Garmin Edge 1040 immediately sends for assistance. LiveTrack also allows your loved ones to keep cyclists tracked in real-time and even view their preplanned routes.

The Garmin Edge 1040 Solar features a rather clever Power Glass that is also featured on Garmin’s more premium wearables. The Power Glass allows the device to be charged by sunlight, which is plenty in Malaysia. We are not saying that you do not have to charge the device ever though. The solar charging feature does allow the device to last up to 100 hours, a lot more than the regular Edge 1040 without solar charging.

Garmin Updates the Forerunner 200 Series – The Forerunner 255 is Finally Announced

If you want to get a fitness tracker, and you have a good budget to work with, we will always put Garmin on the top of your list. They are, undoubtedly, the kings of fitness trackers at this point. They have the fēnix series, a multipurpose and extreme activity tracker at a premium price point. They also make the vívosmart series that is meant to be an entry-level fuss free fitness tracker.

They also make rather focused fitness trackers too, specific to different sport functions. One of the most popular models in their line-up is the Forerunner series. It is hardly surprising though, the Garmin Forerunner series is made specifically for running, one of the simplest activities you can do to start getting in shape. It is also probably something you have been doing for a while now.

Garmin introduced their Forerunner 245 about two years ago. The Forerunner 245 is made for the intermediate runners, or people who are already quite familiar with running. It packs all sorts of tech that a runner might want. You get GPS, an adaptive training plan feature, specific sensors to track your stride lengths, ground contact time, balance, and whatever you need to know about your running posture. Of course, there is a heart-rate sensor built into the watch.

That was two years ago, it is 2022 and the Forerunner 200 series needs a successor, a modern refresh of some sorts. Welcome to the Forerunner 255, the new and improved mid-range Forerunner.

Better in Every Way

  • Garmin Forerunner 255 2
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 9
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 8
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 7
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 6
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 5
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 4
  • Garmin Forerunner 255 3

Very much like the Forerunner 245 it replaces; it is made for the enthusiast runners. It is better though, with longer battery life – 14 days on a single charge. It has an accurate GPS as well, in GPS tracking mode, it will last up to 30 hours.

It is also lighter at just below 50g. It is so light; you are not going to feel any resistance or weight in your arms as you go for your run. Of course, you might want to wear it to sleep as well, which means the lack of weight will not affect your sleep at all.

They made it to be more durable too. The entire body is made to be as rugged as a runner’s watch can be. Its included silicon band is made to last a long time and to withstand plenty of sweat without disintegrating.

Of course, the Forerunner 255 also retains all its exercise tracking functions to not just track your running, but to improve your lifestyle as well. it features more than 30+ exercise modes including a triathlon mode to make the Forerunner 255 even more versatile than before. Its advanced sleep tracking function not only measure your sleep patterns and heart rate. It also gives you suggestions to improve your sleep and to get through your day.

If you are going for a race, the watch can also be your coach in recommending programs for you to hit your goals. It helps you understand your body a little better too with a recovery time recommendation and performance condition tracking. At the same time, the watch tracks your training history and intensity to optimise your trainings and fitness regimes. In a race, it can even predict your training’s impact and estimates your finishing time.

Of course, to keep track of everything, you do not need to just rely on the small watch face you get on the Forerunner 255. Despite the brilliant 1.3-inch display protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, you still want to see all your efforts in a report on a larger display. That is where the Garmin Connect app compatibility comes in. It also supports Garmin Pay, in case you need to quickly pop-by for coffee or any other things.

Price and Availability

The Garmin Forerunner 255 is now available in the North American region. The most basic Forerunner 255 is retailing for US$ 349 (MYR 1,532*) onward. There is also a music variant that allows your Garmin Forerunner to connect to your wireless earbuds and play music directly from the smartwatch itself for US$ 399 (MYR 1,751*) onward. You can get your Forerunner 255 in either 41mm or 46mm watch face sizes. There are no announcements yet on its availability in other regions, including Malaysia. Of course, we expect to see Garmin launching their Forerunner 255 in Malaysia in the coming months.

The Garmin Instinct 2 is now officially in Malaysia, Now with Solar Charging for MYR 1,630 Onward

At this point, smartwatches are outselling regular watches. You even see some of your friends that are not big fans of wearing watches now wearing a form of smartwatch or fitness tracker. There is a very good reason to that.

A smartwatch or fitness tracker does not just tell time. They are more functional than regular watches because they now track your steps, your heart rate, your exercises, and much more. Smartwatches, because they are connected to your smartphone most of the time, are effectively your pagers now (pagers are like little SMS machines that predates even your mobile phones, if you do not know what that is). It also changes time zones with you without your input. It redefines what a toolwatch is.

If you ask us which smartwatch you should buy, and if budget is no object, we will always tell you to go out and get yourself a Garmin smartwatch or fitness tracker. Why? They are simply the best at this, currently. It is okay if you cannot fork out MYR 4,000 to buy a Garmin Fenix though. You can get this, the Instinct 2 at a fraction of the price and still have the best of Garmin.

2021111 INSTINCT 2 13639
Source: Garmin

It is still a Garmin fitness tracker cum smartwatch, so it does everything that a smartwatch and a fitness tracker does. Instead of being a one-stop-shop for everything that is fitness and adventure though, the Instinct 2 is a little more focused on different purposes. Still, if you need something completely general and unassuming – there is still the regular Instinct 2 for you to work with. If you are on a tight budget, you can still opt for one without the solar charging capability.

Yes, you did read that right, the Garmin Instinct 2 charges via solar now. Whichever Instinct 2 you pick as well, they are built to military standard 810 to ensure that the watch works in whatever condition you can throw it to, even in 100m of water depths. 45mm too big? There is The Instinct 2S too with 40mm bezels with all the bells and whistles from the larger Instinct 2.

2021111 INSTINCT 2 13655
Source: Garmin

As mentioned, the Instinct 2 series is more function focused than ever. There are three purpose-built editions to the Instinct 2 series now. You have the Surf Edition that allows you to keep track of data that you would need in any water sports category. It keeps you updated on wind speeds, tide conditions and more. You can even track your activities on the water and review them later.

There is also a Tactical Edition, a military type of edition made for the military person. You get Stealth Mode with this one too, we assume that is to dim down the screen so that it does not emit any lights. The screen is even usable with Night Vision Goggles for some reason. Of course, it is also a GPS tool to ensure that your location is always updated. Since it could be an essential military gear, Garmin added the Jumpmaster activity mode for when you go parachuting. This is a little overkill for a regular person though.

For regular adventurers, maybe the Camo Editions are good enough. It is a regular Instict 2 with everything that Garmin can offer in a fitness and adventure tracker, but in camo colour options. All of the Garmin Instinct 2 editions works Garmin’s Connect IQ app with access to the store for further personalisation of your Instinct 2.

The Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S is now available from Garmin official stores on Lazada and Shopee. You can also purchase an Instinct 2 watch from Garmin’s official distributor for Malaysia via AECO e-store and other authorised retailers. The Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S will set you back MYR 1,630 onward. For more information on the Garmin Instinct 2 series, you can head over to Garmin’s website.

Garmin Launches Their Latest Flagship fēnix 7 and epix Premium Smartwatches in Malaysia

When someone asks us about buying a smartwatch, we always come back with; “how much do you want to spend on our wrist wear?”. Most smartwatches should not set you back more than MYR 1,500 at this point. You can even get a Samsung Galaxy Watch4 for less than MYR 1,000 even. So why did we ask for your budget? Not really to see how rich you are, we want to know how serious you are in going for a smartwatch.

In that sense, if you have about MYR 5,000 to play with in your smart wearable wrist wear, we will always say; “go for something like a Garmin”. Garmin smartwatches and trackers have always been some of the highest regarded wearable in our books. They are built to the highest and most premium standards, and they have always been somewhat timeless. There are new ones on the block, and if you are in the market for a smartwatch at MYR 5,000, we think you should pay attention.

The Flagship – Garmin’s New fēnix 7 Series

GARMINFEBLAUNCH 17

Garmin’s flagship smartwatch has always been a little odd. They always offer coloured displays underneath premium materials and build quality that would put even Samsung to shame. They also offer battery life that is the envy of every wearable out in the market. But they do not offer touch screen capabilities. There is also a good reason for that, but we will not get too much into it because the new fēnix 7 does feature a touch sensitive display for the first time ever in their flagship line-up.

There are a whole slew of improvements made on the watch too that makes this fēnix 7 the best fēnix smartwatch there ever was. Its battery life has been improved by 300%, according to Garmin. Its solar charging capabilities has also been improved by 200%. All these improvements allow the fēnix 7X to last up to 24 days in UltraTrac mode, important when you are on an expedition.

The fēnix 7 series have always been made to be used in the great outdoors. In the great outdoors though is also where mishaps can happen. You might get stranded or lost, or even injured. The fēnix 7 series comes packing an improved multiband GNSS to allow for ultra-accurate tracking even if you are covered by the thick canopies of the forest. If not, the built-in flashlight of the fēnix 7X series can act as a morse code SOS signal display, other than lighting your way through the thick of the jungle or the dark of night.

Of course, you may not be always placed in such extreme conditions. You might want to just go for a simple jog, be it day and night. When you are feeling a little less adventurous, maybe the gym is a good idea. The fēnix 7 series comes packing with more than 40 built-in exercise modes. It now cleverly analyses and keeps track of your Real-Time Stamina when you go for a run, for you to monitor your best pace for the run. There is also an Up Ahead feature on the fēnix 7 watch via the Garmin Connect App to create routes and create checkpoints along the route. This might be useful in organised marathons. For night runs, the flashlight from the fēnix 7X will keep your path lit and light up red according to your arm swing for safety purposes.

The New Standard in Sports Monitoring – The Garmin epix with AMOLED Display

GARMINFEBLAUNCH 15

There is also a first for Garmin here. This is the first Garmin outdoor smartwatch to offer the brilliance of AMOLED displays. It sits under a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and you can opt for a lightweight and durable titanium alloy case for it. It is made to endure as much as the fēnix 7 series, if not more.

Like the fēnix 7 series, there are more than 40 sports modes on the epix. You can take it to the gym for a HIIT session, or strength training, or even go for a jog, and the Garmin epix will keep up with the right modes automatically. It is made for golf and skiing too. Within the watch is maps of over 42,000 gold courses around the world. It also packs 2,200 maps of ski resorts globally.

Its battery life may not be as impressive as the fēnix 7 series. With regular functions it will last up to 16 days, which is still an impressive number for modern smartwatches. Considering that this does not even have solar charging built into the case, it is also mighty impressive. If you need to go for longer excursions though, you can get the battery to be extended to 21 days with its clever Power Manager function. That is also while you are being GPS tracked.

Prices and Availability

The Garmin fēnix 7 series come in three display sizes and a slew of flavours for your picking. There is a 1.2-inch fēnix 7S variant, a 1.3-inch fēnix 7 variant, and the premium 1.4-inch fēnix 7X variant. You can opt for regular steel or titanium cases for your fēnix 7 smartwatch. All the fēnix 7 watches come equipped with sapphire glass to protect its display. The fēnix 7S, and fēnix 7 starts at MYR 3,270 while the fēnix 7X starts at MYR 4,670.

The Garmin epix comes in three flavours for your picking. All of them measures 45mm in diameter though, so size choices here. You can opt for a regular steel casing at MYR 4,199. The titanium casing variant retails for MYR 4,670 but comes in two colour choices. You can opt for a Black Titanium variant paired toa a black silicone band, or a White Titanium paired to a white silicone band.

Both the Garmin fēnix 7 series and Garmin epix smartwatches are now available on Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, and all Garmin’s authorised retailers. You can find out more about the new Garmin watches on their website.

Keeping yourself fit is more important than ever. At these trying times, exercising is not just about keeping yourself physically fit anymore though. Exercising has also become a way to keep yourself mentally. Keeping yourself fit is also about keeping tack about how you are doing through your exercise journey. In that case, you need a fitness tracker.

What do you get though? The market is not exactly starved for choice. The fitness tracker market is a huge one since the first smartwatches launches off the shelves. What we are saying is that there are plenty of choice and different budgets to work with, when it comes to fitness trackers.

Garmin just launched their new Forerunner 55 smart fitness trackers. The Forerunner 55 is a new smart fitness tracker, but it retains all the classic, rugged, and functional look that is signature of the Forerunner series. Launched in tandem with the annual Global Running Day, the Garmin Forerunner 55 boasts two weeks in battery life; a signature of a Garmin smartwatch. Because it is made for runners also, there is built-in GPS for runners to track their running pace and path. It also tracks your heart rate in real-time, which is useful not only when you run. If you wear it to sleep, it also tracks your sleep as well.

The Garmin Forerunner is also your health coach and tracker. It can keep track on even your calories if you let it. You get personalised workout suggestions from the forerunner 55. Smartwatches have always been seen as gender neutral in design. However, when it comes down to it, the design and finish of any given watch can leave an impression. Garmin says that the Lily is inspired by the jewellery-like design of timepieces which are designed for smaller wrists. Garmin Launches the Venu SQ in Malaysia – Affordable Garmin for Everyone!

Garmin has always been known for their very premium smartwatches. Some do not even consider their stuff ‘smartwatches’. They argue that the Garmin watches are more fitness trackers than anything. Whichever camp you come from though, we still like the brand and the devices they make.

As smartwatches and fitness trackers go, you cannot go wrong with a Garmin watch. Whichever your choice is, you are getting a smartwatch cum fitness tracker that will last you days at a time, while being reliable and durable enough to be in the harshest of weathers. There is an issue however; they are not exactly affordable. Garmin has an answer to that.

Source: Garmin

Welcome to the Garmin Venu SQ, SQ for ‘Square’. Garmin launched the Venu smartwatch last year and it became one of our favourite smartwatches very quickly. Its pretty interface and good looks are big contributors to our preference, of course. But round is not the only format people want in their smartwatch. Some people still prefer going for a square watch face on their smartwatch thanks to the larger perceived display real estate. That is the Garmin Venu SQ, for the ones that wants a square-faced smartwatch from Garmin.

The Garmin Venu SQ’s square-ish display measures at 1.3-inch and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer. The square LCD display pushes 240 by 240 pixels , which is not Full HD per se, but is still quite a pretty looking crystal display. You can use always-on mode on the Garmin Venu SQ as well, if you want to. Of course, always-on display will consume a little bit more battery life.

Source: Garmin

To be fair, not much else is known about the Garmin Venu SQ’s internals. We do know that the Venu SQ is just as capable as its more premium round-faced sibling though. It is also made with the same durable fiber-reinforced polymer material that the rounded Garmin Venu is built with. Inside is also all the same sensors that makes the Garmin Venu SQ as capable as any of its siblings.

You still have GPS capability within the watch with compass capabilities so that you can never get lost with the Garmin Venu SQ, in your adventures. In your adventures as well, you would appreciate the 5 ATM water resistant rating, just in case you need to get a little wet. A battery life that would last you up to 6 days at a time could also prove essential when you need it (14 hours on GPS mode without music). As a bonus, you do not need to keep it charged daily.

Of course, the Garmin Venu SQ still has all the right sensors at the back of the watch as well. The sensors can monitor your heart rate, your blood oxygen levels, and more. It can even detect your swim stroke types, and even understand your sleep cycles.

The Venu SQ is now available in Malaysia in two variants. You can get a regular Venu SQ and a Venu SQ Music with Spotify and music storing capabilities built-into the device. The Venu SQ starts at MYR 999 and is available in Shadow Gray/Slate, White/Light Gold, and Orchid/Metallic Orchid colour options. The Venu SQ Music Edition will go for MYR 1,250 and is available in Black/Slate, Light Sand/Rose Gold, Navy/Light Gold, and Moss/Slate colour combinations.
