Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Series Rumour Round-Up

With Samsung’s big Galaxy Unpacked event happening on August 10, we thought it’d be a good time to round up all the rumours behind the devices poised to make their global debut at the event. We’ve already covered all the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 rumours. There’s still one show stopper coming at the event – the Galaxy Watch 5 series.

Better Specs, Maybe a new Sensor

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 series was its first outing running OneUI Watch on top of Google’s Wear OS. Even with new software, the company managed to introduce new features and up the ante when it comes to their wearables. It’s going to be an interesting year for the Watch series with Samsung delving deeper into health metrics and applying them to the medical field. In fact, rumours are rife with Samsung bolstering the Watch5 series with an additional body temperature sensor for better tracking of sleep and perhaps other metrics.

The Galaxy Watch 5 series will seemingly come with Samsung’s own Exynos W920 processor. The processor was announced last year and specifically built for wearable tech like the Galaxy Watch series. It looks like the series will be consisting of two entries – The Galaxy Watch5 and the Galaxy Watch5 Pro. If you’re wondering where’s the classic? It seems like Samsung will be doing away with the navigator design of the classic for the new Pro.

Minor Design Tweaks with 50 Hours battery

The Watch5 Pro comes with a few design changes – the most obvious being a raised circular bezel. Apparently, this will be where Samsung’s digital rotating bezel feature gets slightly more tactile. In addition, the Pro will also be made of more premium materials including Sapphire Glass and titanium.

Aside from these differences, the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro will have similar designs. Samsung’s new design language gives the Galaxy Watch a more sporty and edgy look. The bands are now meeting the body of the Watch and becoming a contiguous fluid structure. It looks like Samsung has also redesigned the straps opting for a design with a clasp or magnet instead of the usual pin and holes we’re used to seeing.

The regular Galaxy Watch5 seems to be continuing the tradition of having two sizes: a 44mm and a 40mm version. These versions will come with different-sized AMOLED displays. The smaller 40mm version is tipped to be coming with a 1.19-inch display while the 44-inch one is tipped for a 1.36-inch display. In addition, it looks like we can expect better battery life with the increased battery size of the Watch5 series. The smaller version is rumoured to come with a 284mAh battery while the larger 44mm version will come with a 410mAh battery. That said, both are expected to deliver about 50 hours of usage on a single charge. It is also rumoured to come with a 10W fast charger in the box.

Rumoured Pricing

According to the leaks, it looks like the Galaxy Watch5 series will be priced at a lower price point than its predecessor. The Watch5 40mm (Bluetooth Only) is rumoured to be retailing at €259 (MYR1,177.13) while the 44mm version will be priced at €286 (MYR1,299.77). The Pro on the other hand will be retailing at €430 (MYR1,954.21) for the 45mm Bluetooth-only option.

Samsung’s Offering MYR200 off Your Purchase of the Galaxy Z series

Samsung’s next Unpacked event is around the corner. The company is looking poised to reveal a whole new slate of devices that will be pushing their Galaxy Ecosystem forward. It looks like there will be three hero devices: the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the Galaxy Watch 5 that will be gracing the event.

We’ve recapped all the details we know to date in our rumour round-up articles. The Fold4 looks to be leading the pack with S-Pen compatibility, a larger screen and more user-friendly dimensions. The new foldable also looks to be packing a few firsts for the company and aesthetic changes that will undoubtedly make it a winner for Samsung’s new generation of foldable.

Galaxy Unpacked August 2022

Together with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung will also be introducing its follow-up to the popular Z Flip 3 – the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The new Flip 4 looks to be coming with some tech updates. More importantly, the smartphone’s aesthetics are getting a minor update which will bring even more functionality. In addition, we’re looking to see where Samsung takes their BESPOKE edition this year. Last year’s introduction saw an unprecedented level of self-expression and customizability.

The Galaxy ecosystem wouldn’t be complete without a device focused on health. That’s wear where the new Galaxy Watch 5 fits in. The previous Galaxy Watch 4 saw Samsung adopt Google’s Wear OS as its OneUI Watch. This time, we’re excited to see where Samsung takes the Watch’s functionality and how it adapts Wear OS even further.

That aside, it looks like Samsung is getting things ready for a big bang. In addition to teasing like there’s no tomorrow, they’re also touting a whole new level of self-expression. That comes in addition to the MYR200 e-voucher they are offering to those who sign up at their Unpacked website for the latest info. This voucher can be used for the pre-order after the Unpacked Event.

Since you’re reading this, it’s no surprise that you’re excited to catch the action first-hand. Well, you can watch the Unpacked Event on August 10, 2022, at 9 pm (Malaysian Time) at:

Fresh Off the Unpacked 2022 Boat, and On to Another – Samsung is Back for MWC 2022

Our memory is still fresh with Samsung’s Galaxy S22 launch earlier this month. If you have been living under a shell; yes, it is the year 2022 and Samsung has launched their latest sequel to one of the most successful line-ups of Android devices in the world. The Samsung Galaxy S22 is here and will come to your doorways on the 3rd of March 2022.

It does not seem like Samsung is done launching devices though. They have just announced that they will be making another appearance alongside MWC 2022. On the 27th of February 2022, Samsung is making another round of announcements and inevitably launch a few products. The public invite on their website says that the event will be streamed LIVE on their YouTube channel at 7.00 p.m. CET (2.00 a.m. 28th of February 2022 Malaysia Time). They have also released some graphics with the date announcement and said that the graphics will be representative of what they are launching in late February.

We eyed a smartphone, tablet, the S Pen, a wearable, the Z Fold and Z Flip, and a laptop. Considering Samsung just launched their new smartphone and tablet, we doubt they will be releasing anymore of those anytime soon. In that case we probably can expect Samsung to launch a new wearable maybe, or a new notebook PC in that case.

There is also a small chance that Samsung might announce the inclusion of their smartphones and wearables in their Bespoke program. In that case, you might be able to buy a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 in a very special colour of your own for example. Then again, this is all speculations.

We could all be wrong, and Samsung might just launch a whole new line-up of smarthome products. This is MWC though, so we think that is highly improbably too. Samsung is being a little vague on this event.

Whatever it is, we will only find out in their second major announcement of the year in their MWC 2022 event. Again, you can watch their announcement on their YouTube channel on the 27th of February 2022 at 7.00 p.m CET (28th of February 2022 at 2.00 a.m. Kuala Lumpur time). If you want to know more about this event, you can head over to their website.

The Galaxy Note Series is Back as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung isn’t messing around with the Galaxy S series this year. With their refocusing of the Galaxy S22 and S22+, they’re also working on redefining their Galaxy S22 Ultra. After skipping the release of a new Galaxy Note last year, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is being imbued with the DNA and ethos of their most popular lineup.

The new Galaxy S22 Ultra is going through a total makeover this year and it starts with the design and seeps into its features. The first thing you’re going to realise about the new Galaxy S22 Ultra is that it doesn’t even share a hair with the design language of its siblings, the S22 and the S22+. Instead, its design cues hearken from the Galaxy Note series. In fact, it’s even adopted the integrated S-Pen slot! In essence, the Galaxy Note seems to have found new life as the top-of-the-line Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series Unpacked 01

When it comes to materials, the Ultra shares the same materials that were used in its sibling devices. It comes with the same armour aluminium frame sandwiched in Gorilla Glass Victus+ that we see in the S22 and S22+. However, that’s where the similarities end. The Galaxy S22 Ultra adopts a dual-curved design that meets at the middle of the frame for a more ergonomic finish. It also has an angular finish. It has a rectangular silhouette that we saw in the Galaxy Note20+. However, like the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+, the S22 Ultra is also thicker. The thickness gives it a more natural feel in the hand. The S Pen finds itself back where it belongs in a slot on the right side of the device. On the back, the cameras are nearly flush and protected by Gorilla DX.

Making a Note-able Comeback

Speaking of the S Pen, it’s making a note-able comeback. Puns aside, the S Pen on the S22 Ultra is not the same we’ve seen in the Note10. Samsung has worked on making the writing experience on the S22 Ultra an even more natural one. The latency of the S Pen has been reduced even further to 2.8ms. This is done with improvements to the Wacom technology in the S22 Ultra as well as with AI prediction algorithms. The new Wacom IC is more sensitive allowing faster reaction to inputs while AI works in the background to predict the trajectory of the S Pen when in use. This time it will be able to predict multiple trajectories which allow the experience to feel even more instantaneous.

Together with the new hardware and AI, the S Pen is also supported by new software features. The Samsung Notes app is getting a few new features including improved handwriting recognition. You will be able to convert your handwritten notes into tidier typed out notes with a single click. It’s also coming with a new Quick Notes feature which allows you to capture full web pages for your notes. Additionally, it will also be able to work seamlessly with the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 in Collaboration View. This allows you to not only share via nearby share but also work on a larger display when needed. Similarly, Samsung has worked with Clip Studio to allow you to use the S22 Ultra as your colour palette for more precise control of colours in your digital art. You can even use the S22 Ultra’s camera to get colours you can’t get in the palette by snapping a photo and lifting the colour from there.

Packed with Cutting Edge Technology

Of course, it goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s note-able features are supported by the latest technologies. Like the S22 and the S22+. the S22 Ultra is coming with the latest 4nm processor. Depending on the region you’re in, it may be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the AMD RDNA touting Exynos 2200. The processor will be complemented by either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. The S22 Ultra comes with the same 120 Hz capable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display as its siblings albeit in a larger 6.8-inch flavour.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series Unpacked 02

When it comes to the camera, it’s imbued with the same features that are packed in its siblings. However, it comes with a more robust quad camera setup. The main sensor is a 108-megapixel wide sensor with dual pixel autofocus, an f/1.8 aperture and an 85° field of view (FOV). This is complemented with a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 120° FOV and two 10-megapixel telephoto sensors. One of which is capable of 3x optical zoom and has an f/2.4 aperture while the other is capable of 10x optical zoom with an f/4.9 aperture. The front camera is a 40-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 80° FOV.

Like the S22 and S22+, the camera of the S22 Ultra comes with new enhancements. The biggest enhancement is the larger pixels of the 108-megapixel sensor which is 1.23 times the size of the pixels of the Galaxy S21. In addition, it utilizes the same nona binning technology for better low light photographs. Galaxy AI enhances this with multi-frame exposure. This means that the camera will take up to 20 frames and use the data in each to get a more detailed picture with better dynamic range. The more capable NPU in the processors of the Galaxy S22 Ultra allows it to process up to 4 times the data. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also able to shoot in 16-bit RAW which allows for more flexibility when processing pictures.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series Unpacked 15

It also comes with an enhanced super steady mode which allows you to shoot even steadier video at higher resolutions. Portrait mode has also been enhanced with Galaxy AI. A new feature called AI Stereo map captures a more detailed picture of your subject and allows you to adjust everything from the intensity of the bokeh to the light positioning with the new Studio Lighting feature.

Samsung Unveils New Galaxy S22 & Galaxy S22+

Samsung’s Galaxy S series has been the company’s hallmark Android touting series since its first foray into smartphones. This year it looks like the company is turning its formulaic approach on its head by bringing some of the signature design and features of its Note line up to the flagship. The new Galaxy S22 series not only builds on features of the Galaxy S21 and the new 4nm chipsets, but it’s also set on redefining the Galaxy S series moving forward.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series Unpacked 06

This year’s Galaxy S22 series will be coming with three versions as it has before – the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, Samsung is changing things up when it comes to the features and differentiation between the smartphones in the series. While the biggest change in their approach this year is with the Ultra, we’re zooming in on the Galaxy S22 and S22+ here.

Designed for Functionality & Durability

Samsung is reigning things back a little bit when it comes to the design of the S22 and S22+. It’s keeping things familiar with design cues we’re used to seeing in the Galaxy S series thanks to the S21. However, they’ve done away with the multicoloured colourways which left a lasting impression – at least for now. The smartphones are now flat. The curved screens we’re used to on the Galaxy S series are no more.

That said, Samsung has focused on making the new S series devices are sturdier and more functional. The Galaxy S22 and S22+ come with Armour Alumunium which made its debut with the Fold3 and Flip3. It gives added strength and rigidity to the frame of the phone and to the camera modules under the metallic camera hump. This is sandwiched by Gorilla Glass Victus with a matte coloured finish.

It’s not a question of “how thin can you go” for Samsung anymore, they’ve focused on making their phones last longer and feel more ergonomic in hand. The S22 and S22+ have thicker silhouettes but hold larger 3,700mAh and 4,500mAh batteries respectively. The thicker form also allows you to hold the phone with a firmer grip.

Camera, Camera and more Galaxy AI

The Galaxy S22 and S22+ are sticking to the Galaxy S formula. They’re looking to build on the camera features with their new release. Samsung’s focus this year is very much on their improved Galaxy AI implementation and also bringing features that make sense. The S22 and S22+ come with the same camera setup. They have a triple sensor setup. The main sensor is a 50-megapixel (f/1.8) wide sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and an 85° field of view (FOV). This is complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 120° FOV and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor capable of 3x optical zoom with an f/2.4 aperture and 36° FOV. On the front is a 10-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 80° FOV.  While it may seem like the S22 and S22+ is taking a step back when it comes to the telephoto sensor, Samsung is claiming that they are able to achieve better performance with a larger main sensor and the 12-megapixel telephoto sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series Unpacked 04

The mainstay of the new camera is the improved VDI that comes with the 4nm processors that Samsung is using in their flagships. The improved processing of images allows them to bring better low light performance as well as imbue its camera with more Galaxy AI features for better pictures. Samsung’s buzzword this year is “Nightography”. With “Nightography”, the company is highlighting their new approach to low light photography on smartphones. In particular, how Galaxy AI composites 20 different versions of the same image for better low light results. It also improves dynamic range and creates a more detailed picture. Of course, this works in tandem with the nona binning technology that we’ve seen in Galaxy S smartphones before. When taking low light video, Galaxy AI will also adjust the frame rate of the video to ensure the best result.

Galaxy AI also brings features like Auto Frame which intelligently adjusts the camera’s framing to ensure that the person or object of interest is constantly in the frame. Even when it comes to moving subjects, Galaxy AI is able to adjust for the best framing. With the version in the Galaxy S22 and S22+, you’ll be able to automatically track up to 10 subjects. The Galaxy S22 and S22+ are also able to shoot in 16-bit RAW format. This will allow you to have more flexibility when it comes to posting processing shots taken on the smartphone.

In addition to this, Galaxy AI is also taking charge of the frame rate of your phone. While the new smartphones come with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 120Hz refresh rate, they will not be running at 120Hz all the time. Galaxy AI will dynamically adjust the screen frame rate for better battery performance according to the content on the screen. It will go all the way down to 1Hz when viewing still images.

Samsung’s new Foldable Smartphones Launching in Galaxy Unpacked Event on August 11th

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 was quite a brilliant device. We reviewed it, and we have plenty of good things to say about the device. Of course, no device is perfect; we had a few things we did not like too much on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 as well. For example, we did not particularly like how it was priced. Then again, it is a one-of-a-kind device.

Since the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 was released and reviewed though, everyone talks about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, its predecessor. When the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 launched too, there is another smartphone device that the crowd was wondering about – the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2, a certain follow up to Samsung’s brilliant first flip smartphone with a foldable touch display.

Samsung just released a new visual for an upcoming Galaxy event. Alongside the very telling visual is also a date; 11th August 2021. Indeed, Samsung confirms that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will happen in August 2021 and on the 11th of the month.

The upcoming August Unpacked event should be a big one though. While the previous August Unpacked events have been a Samsung Galaxy Note event, this will be the first August Unpacked event that will not have a Samsung Galaxy Note device announced. We all knew this day would come though; the day that Samsung cancels the Samsung Galaxy Note series. Of course, it was rumoured for some time now. We were also expecting that Samsung releases one last Galaxy Note device in 2021, but the whole global situation had other plans and Samsung had scrapped that plan and might show up with one last Galaxy Note in 2022.

Back into the Galaxy Unpacked event and its visual. While Samsung did not mention that they are going to be launching a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and a Z Flip device, all rumours points to the devices being launched. Rumours and expectations are also pointing to new Samsung Galaxy Watch devices launching in the event itself. The visuals does confirm some of the rumours and expectations of the event with two silhouettes of Samsung’s famous foldable and flip devices.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to come with all-new, all-improved internals. There are some talks about beefing up the display’s integrity and adding S Pen capabilities to the device as well. That could very well mean that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 might get S Pen capabilities too. Although, with Samsung’s move with the S Pen being a separate accessory for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, that would most likely be the case with the foldable devices too.

For what its worth though, you can expect Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 to be beasts. The devices are rumoured to pack Samsung’s latest chip technology and innovation. You can expect at least Samsung Galaxy S21 levels of hardware in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 at least. The only issue is that we still expect the prices to be in the regions of what we saw in last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. At least we are getting chargers in the package this time, right? We are getting the charging adapter in the box, right Samsung?

Samsung Unpacks the Galaxy S21 Series

Samsung’s flagships have always been something to look forward to. This year is no different. With the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, Samsung is looking to push the boundaries of their flagships while striking the right balance with their experiences. For 2021, they are doing this with more variations in screen and phone size with features that complete the overall experience.

Left to Right: Galaxy S21 Ultra in Phantom Black, Galaxy S21+ in Phantom White & Galaxy S21 in Phantom Violet.

That said, like years past, the Galaxy S21 series is launching with three smartphones: the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The latter of the three is Samsung’s technological flagship while the S21 and the S21+ remain their “everyday flagships” which will come with top of the line experiences.

Samsung Galaxy S21 & S21+: Pushing the Boundaries for Everyday Flagships

The Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ are the “Everyday” flagships of Samsung’s new Galaxy S line up. They come with Samsung’s new Exynos 2100 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage internationally. In the U.S., they will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Powering the smartphone is a 4,000mAh battery in the Galaxy S21 and a 4,500mAh in the Galaxy S21+.

The Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ both come with Samsung’s most intelligent display yet: the Dynamic AMOLED 2X which boasts an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. That’s not where the intelligence ends though. Samsung’s new display adapts to the content that you have on-screen. For the S21 and S21+, this feature, known as dynamic refresh, ranges from 48Hz to 120Hz. It also comes equipped with Eye comfort shield which utilises AI to intelligently adapt the amount of blue light emitted to ensure that your circadian rhythm is unaffected. The S21 will come with a smaller 6.2-inch display while the S21+ has a larger 6.7-inch display. Both come with FHD+ resolutions.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra: Packing the Tech for the Flagship series

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is this year’s big update. It packs the tech for the flagship series and comes with a big update that could indicate the end of the Galaxy Note line up. Of course, like the S21 and the S21+, the Ultra comes with the top of the line Exynos 2100 chipset internationally and the Snapdragon 888 for the U.S. However, it also comes with a whopping 16GB of RAM with 512GB of memory. If that seems a tad too much, it also has a 12GB variant with 256GB of memory.

Galaxy S21 Ultra in Phantom Silver

When it comes to the display, the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with the largest screen of the bunch – a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X. It comes with the same dynamic refresh feature of its siblings but has a larger refresh range of 4Hz to 128Hz. On paper, the display is a 120Hz display. The screen is also equipped with a Wacom digitizer. Yes, this does mean that it supports the S-pen which comes as an additional add-on. It comes with a case to stowaway the S-Pen.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra comes equipped with a few more tricks than its siblings. It supports Ultrawide Band (UWB) technology which allows it to be used as a digital car key and it also has Android Auto compatibility. It is also one of the few devices which brings the new version of SmartThings which allows you to control your devices from the Android Auto interface. The S21 Ultra is also the only device in the new series to support WiFi 6E. It also has the capability to support Dual Bluetooth. All this is powered by a 5,000mAh battery.

New Features for a Feature-packed Content Experience

Samsung renews its emphasis on content creation with the S21 series. The devices come equipped with a triple camera setup on the S21 and S21+; while the S21 Ultra comes with a flagship quad camera setup. The triple camera setup comes with a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor, a 12-megapixel wide sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Ultra’s quad-camera setup comes with a 108-megapixel wide sensor complemented by a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor and two 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. On the front, the S21 Ultra comes with a 40-megapixel sensor while the S21 and the S21+ both come with 10-megapixel sensor.

The camera experience isn’t only focused on the hardware this year. Samsung has augmented the experience with new software features including an improved Space Zoom feature. The augmented Space Zoom has a new Zoom Lock feature which provides “tripod like stabilization” when using Space Zoom. Similar to last year, the S21 and the S21+ come with up to 30x Space Zoom while the Ultra goes all the way to 100x.

Aside from Space Zoom, the new camera experience comes with an updated Single Take experience. Single Take 2.0 comes with even more options from the single-shot taken. Also, the video recording experience comes with a new Director’s View feature which allows users to preview shots from multiple lenses and shift lenses on the fly for the best shot. Vlogger view allows users to capture footage on the front and back cameras simultaneously. You also have the capability to shoot 8K footage in higher frame rates than before as well as 8K video snap. This allows users to capture frames when recording their videos.

Tune out the world with the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro

Together with the new Galaxy S21 series, Samsung has announced a new addition to their wearables specifically their Galaxy Buds. The new Galaxy Buds Pro comes with a new design language, better features and a more comfortable fit. Samsung says that the design of the Galaxy Buds Pro comes inspired by last year’s Galaxy Buds Live. That said, the Galaxy Buds Pro seems to have more in common with the Galaxy Buds+ when it comes to design cues.

The Galaxy Buds Pro comes with one of the most wanted features for the Galaxy Buds line up: IP certification. It comes with an IPX7 dust and water resistance rating meaning that you won’t have to worry about the Buds malfunctioning after your run. However, they still aren’t rated for swimming.

IP rating aside, the main system of the Galaxy Buds Pro consists of an 11 mm woofer and 6.5mm tweeters. Samsung claims that the new Buds are one of the most sophisticated audio products that they have made. With the AKG tuned audio from the new setup, users should be able to experience deep bases and warm mids and thrilling highs. In addition to these improvements, the Pros are also the first Buds to support 360 Audio. This means that your audio experience will be even more immersive than ever before. 360 Audio allows you to experience sound as if it was coming from around you.

Improved ANC with AI Augmentation

Aside from that, the new Galaxy Buds Pro comes with three mics this time around for an improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The new ANC approach uses a three microphone system to filter ambient noise. The system consists of a high signal-to-noise (SNR) microphone which should reduce the vacuum effect of ANC and increase the amount of noise effectively filtered out. This is paired with an outer microphone that measures ambient noise as well as detects active voice for its voice pass-through. The third microphone is an inner microphone which allows the ANC to maintain pressure balance which maintains comfort. With this new system, the Pros are able to filter out 99% of ambient noise.

Samsung has augmented the Pro with AI. The Buds Pro comes with adjustable ANC; users can select between four different levels. The Buds Pro is also the first Galaxy Buds where ANC works in tandem with ambient sound. This allows the Buds to dynamically switch between ANC and ambient sound; allowing you to interact with people without the need to switch ANC off. In addition, the Pro can automatically switch between devices. If you’re connected to your Tablet watching a movie and you get a call on your phone, the Buds Pro will automatically pause your movie and switch to the phone for you to answer.

The Galaxy Buds Pro comes with up to 8 hours active playback time. It can have up to 28 hours with top ups from the case. That said, if you need a quick top up, you can get 1 hour of playtime with 5 minutes of fast charge.

Pricing & Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro will be available starting 15 January 2021 for USD$199.99 (MYR807.16). It will come in Phantom Violet, Phantom Silver and Phantom Black.

It will be retailing in Malaysia for MYR799. Pre-orders start on 15 January, 2021.
