JinkoSolar Receives Determination in German Court in Patent Litigation Brought by Hanwha Q CELLS

SHANGHAI and MUNICH, June 19, 2020 — JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (“JinkoSolar”) (NYSE: JKS), one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today responded to the Regional Court of Düsseldorf’s recent determination concluding that third-party cell technology contained in certain JinkoSolar modules, no longer in production, infringes a patent held by Hanwha Q CELLS. JinkoSolar believes the Düsseldorf court came to an erroneous conclusion and will appeal the decision. JinkoSolar is also challenging the Hanwha patent’s validity at the European Patent Office (“EPO”).

Importantly, the scope and impact of the Düsseldorf court’s decision is limited to Germany. Additionally, the decision relates to third-party cells included in older versions of JinkoSolar-branded modules which are no longer in production. As such, the decision has no impact on current JinkoSolar customers, and JinkoSolar may continue to import and sell modules that use its own cell technology to customers in Germany.

“We respectfully disagree with the recent decision of the Düsseldorf court, which did not take any independent expert evidence and based its decision on one sided allegations,” said Kangping Chen, CEO of JinkoSolar. “We continue to believe that Hanwha’s claims are without merit and were brought solely to slow down our business momentum. We will pursue all legal avenues to vigorously defend against Hanwha’s claims, including contesting the validity of the patent associated with the cell technology in question. Providing JinkoSolar’s customers with industry-leading solar modules remains our top priority and we will continue to work tirelessly to achieve that end.”

Quantron AG Implements Fuel Cell Trucks in Europe

The Energon is the first in Quantron’s upcoming fuel cell product range. Production is scheduled to start in mid-2022.

AUGSBURG, Germany, June 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ —

Quantron AG active in the field of hydrogen since its foundation

Quantron AG has been working on hydrogen propulsion for commercial vehicles since its foundation and now, with the new Energon, offers a 44-tonne truck with fuel cell for freight transport that can be fully integrated into logistics processes. It has a range of about 700 km. The 130 kW fuel cell used, supported by a 110 kWh LFP battery, powers the 340 kW engine, which is equipped with a 2-speed transmission.

Quantron AG - Energon Hydrogen Heavy-Duty
Quantron AG – Energon Hydrogen Heavy-Duty

Quantron AG is working hard on other vehicles in order to be able to offer a wide range of fuel cell solutions for companies and local authorities in the near future.

Advantages of the fuel cell

A hydrogen vehicle is an electric vehicle that obtains its energy from a chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen in the so-called fuel cell. The electricity generated in this process is either consumed directly in the engine or buffered in the on-board battery. Due to the high system efficiency of the fuel cell, hydrogen trucks have identical performance characteristics to normal diesel trucks. But there is one decisive advantage: the local freedom from emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. This is because the electrochemical reaction in the fuel cell produces only water vapor, which is then released into the environment when the truck is driven. Added to this are the general advantages of an e-vehicle. Because hydrogen trucks also enjoy tax and toll exemptions as well as lower maintenance and operating costs than trucks with conventional diesel engines.

Pre-orders with a price advantage of 10,000 € are possible at www.quantron.net.

Mr. Yumin Liu, ReneSola Power Chief Executive Officer, added, “This project validates that our business in France is strong and growing.  ReneSola Power is a leading developer in Europe, and we intend to accelerate our growth in the region.  Europe focuses on the development of social responsibility, and various governments across the region support the deployment of solar power.  Both France and other European countries are exactly the type of markets in which we are focusing our business development efforts.”

New Report With 33 Expert Tips on Circular IT Management

STOCKHOLM, June 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The new report from TCO Development, the organization behind the global sustainability certification for IT products TCO Certified, explains how everyone who buys and uses IT products can implement circular and more sustainable practices.

New report with 33 expert tips on circular IT management
New report with 33 expert tips on circular IT management

“Circular solutions are already available. We now need to use them,” says Clare Hobby, Global Purchaser Engagement Director at TCO Development.

The report, Impacts and Insights: Circular IT Management in Practice, sets out how the circular economy helps solve many of the most pressing sustainability challenges linked to IT products. Today’s linear consumption causes substantial carbon dioxide emissions. Natural resources are being rapidly exhausted and vast amounts of hazardous e-waste piles up, with more than 50 million metric tonnes being discarded every year, of which only 20% is being responsibly taken care of. The circular economy can help us reduce the pressure we’re putting on the planet.

As a pioneer of circular procurement, Aalborg municipality has seen the effects of acting with greater circularity.

“The amount of CO2 we can save by keeping IT products longer surprised me. Using laptops for another three years will save emissions equivalent to heating and powering all municipality buildings for a year,” says Birgitte Krebs Schleemann, project manager for sustainability procurement at Aalborg municipality.

The circular transition is a paradigm shift that will require both big and small changes. In the report, experts in the frontline of circularity and IT share 33 concrete tips.

“We want to go beyond theory — this report provides practical help for those who want to take the next step,” says Clare Hobby.

Some of the tips:

  1. Use your IT-products longer — it’s the single most important thing you can do to save natural resources and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Work to gradually implement circular practices, such as take-back programs.
  3. Think circular when you’re purchasing IT products. Use circular criteria.
  4. Give your IT products a second life by reselling them.
  5. Acknowledge that circularity is a team effort and no one can do it alone. Both internal and external cooperation is key!

JinkoSolar Receives Favorable Final Determination of Non-Infringement in U.S. ITC Patent Investigation Brought by Hanwha Q CELLS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE: JKS), one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today announced that the United States International Trade Commission (“ITC”) issued a favorable final determination concluding JinkoSolar’s products do not infringe a patent asserted by Hanwha Q CELLS.

In March 2019, Hanwha initiated ITC Investigation No. 337-TA-1151 against JinkoSolar, LONGi Solar, and REC Group, asserting that the companies infringe U.S. Patent No. 9,893,215.

On June 3, 2020, the Commission issued its final determination in JinkoSolar’s favor, affirming the Administrative Law Judge’s initial determination in April, which was based on analysis of detailed, expert testimony, that JinkoSolar’s products do not infringe Hanwha’s patent.

“We welcome this final decision from the ITC, confirming what we have known all along: our products do not infringe Hanwha’s patent,” said Kangping Chen, CEO of JinkoSolar. “From the start, we have believed that the case brought by Hanwha was legally and technically meritless and a transparent attempt to disrupt innovation and slow our momentum. The ALJ’s decision confirms that Hanwha should never have brought this case in the first place. JinkoSolar is a true innovator, and this outcome validates our technology. Our top priority is to provide our customers around the world with the industry-leading, sustainable, high-quality, high-performance solar modules they have come to expect from us.”

ReneSola Power and Nautilus Solar Energy Announce the Sale of a 10.4 MW Minnesota Community Solar Portfolio

STAMFORD, Conn., June 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — In a joint statement today, ReneSola Ltd (NYSE: SOL) (“ReneSola Power”), a leading fully-integrated solar project developer, and Nautilus Solar Energy, LLC (“Nautilus”), a leading national solar project acquisition, development and asset management company, announced Nautilus’s acquisition of a 10.4 MW community solar portfolio developed by ReneSola Power in Minnesota.

Like previous acquisitions, including the 21MW purchase in 2019 and the two-13.3 MW acquisitions announced in 2017 and 2018, this portfolio also qualified under Xcel Energy’s community solar program in Minnesota. The portfolio is comprised of eight single axis tracker solar installations, each commonly referred to as a solar garden. The projects are located in counties across the southern half of Minnesota, and are designed to produce enough energy to power over 1,450 homes. The portfolio is expected to come online by the fourth quarter of 2020.

Nautilus will be responsible for the project management, long-term asset and subscriber management and maintenance services for this portfolio. In addition to having developed the projects, ReneSola Power will be responsible for securing the subscribers. The energy generated by the projects will directly benefit qualified commercial and residential off-takers situated within Xcel Energy’s service territory by providing energy cost savings while also advancing Minnesota’s 10 percent solar energy goal by 2030.

“We are excited to be working with the Nautilus team. This transaction once again demonstrates the project development expertise of our team in Minneapolis,” said John Ewen, CEO of ReneSola Power North America. “Despite ongoing macro uncertainties, both Nautilus and ReneSola teams successfully completed the transaction. Community solar remains an attractive market for us in the U.S., and we look forward to collaborating with Nautilus on other solar opportunities in the near future,” commented Yumin Liu, Chief Executive Officer of ReneSola Power.

“With this acquisition, we are able to significantly expand our subscriber presence in the Minnesota community solar marketplace to service smaller commercial and even residential customers,” said Jim Rice, Co-CEO of Nautilus Solar. “This successful transaction, being the fourth deal consummated with the ReneSola team over the last 3 years, further exemplifies Nautilus’s long-term commitment to working closely with our development partners,” added Jeffrey Cheng, President of Nautilus Solar.
