FreeYond Launches with the M5 and F9, the New Entry-Level Contenders are Here

We always thought that the mid-range smartphone segment is the most competitive segment in the entire industry. While that much is true, we tend to forget as well that the entry-level smartphone segment is a rather competitive one too. As smartphones’ prices reach a high never seen before, cheaper devices are becoming more popular as viable choices for not just first-time smartphone buyers. They become an even more appealing prospect over flagship and mid-range devices since they are rather inexpensive to own and even replace.

You have plenty of choices in the entry-level space too. You get the usual Xiaomi, OPPO, realme, VIVO, and even Samsung in the space. In some sense, you are spoilt for choice still in the entry-level segment. There is a new kid on the block to add to your list of choices in the segment – FreeYond.

FreeYond kicks off their Malaysian chapter with two smartphone devices. One of it is the FreeYond M5. The new M5, currently, is their most powerful smartphone device to hit the Malaysian shores.

The Android 12 device comes with a Unisoc T606 system on a chip (SoC). The eight-core integrated processor comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage to ensure that Android 12 runs as smooth as it can be even with multiple apps open at the same time. You want the large storage too with a 50-Megapixel main camera out the back supported by an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-Megapixel macro camera. If that is not enough, you get to expand your storage with a microSD card to up to 1TB.

It does not come with 5G connectivity, unfortunately. If you think about it though, 4G LTE connectivity is more than enough at this point of time. You can still thoroughly enjoy Netflix, YouTube, or even Prime Video via the 6.52-inch IPS display offering 720p HD+ resolution. To keep you enjoying your contents the entire day, you have a large 5,000 mAh battery that charges at 18W via USB Type-C.

You need a secondary device, a cheap smartphone to keep your work separate from your life. You need something that does not hurt your pockets too much, yet something reliable. You need the FreeYond F9.

The budget entry-level device still comes with an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.6GHz. That powerful SoC is paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can even expand your storage with up to 1TB MicroSD card if you want.

The Android 12 Go OS is displayed in all its glory via the 6.52-inch iPS display that offers up to 720p HD+ resolution still. The display is also where you see the results of the 13-Megapixel main camera that works together with a 2-Megapixel camera. Above the display, you can find an 8-Megapixel selfie camera. You can even keep all of these things running for longer than a day with a 5,000mAh battery within the compact body of the FreeYond F9.

Price and Availability

The FreeYond M5 will be available in Malaysia July 2023 onward. The FreeYond F9 on the other hand is now available for purchase via Shopee. The FreeYond M5 starts at MYR 699 while the F9 starts at MYR 499.

Acer Nitro 5 with Intel’s 11th Generation Intel Core H-Series Tiger Lake Lands in Malaysia

Acer’s Nitro 5 for 2021 was launched a little earlier in the year. That was the AMD Ryzen variant though. At the same time, the entry-level gaming laptop stepped out of the ‘entry-level’ segment and started becoming a high-end gaming PC the moment they fitted an AMD Ryzen 9 5900H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 mobile GPU into the build.

That is not to say that Acer is abandoning the entry-level gaming laptop market though. The Nitro 5’s configuration choice is a testament to the segment. You can opt for an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, for example, to be paired to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. Still, there is an option missing from the Nitro 5 line-up. Until now that is.

The option we were referring to is the Intel variant of the Acer Nitro 5. After all, the Acer Nitro 5 of the past has always been Intel powered. In that sense, the update should come as no surprise. The only surprise though is the options that you get from the Acer Nitro 5 intel edition.

The latest addition to the Acer Nitro 5 family in 2021 is powered by an 11th Generation Intel Core i7-11800H (up to). Considering that the latest Intel Core i7 is the most powerful mobile platform chip based on Intel’s latest 10nm process, you are getting a lot of power for your money here still. The Processor is also paired with a potent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 for good measure.

Processing power aside, you do need ample RAM and storage size to fully take advantage of a gaming laptop. For that you get up to 16GB of RAM from the Acer Nitro 5 for all kinds of creative and gaming purposes. You also get 512GB in SSD storage for speedy access to all your applications. There is an additional 2.5” SATA slot, if you want more storage for your Nitro 5. If you want to, you can also upgrade your RAM to top out at 32GB.

All these things are housed in a familiar body with a slightly redesigned display shell, for easy identification we suppose. You get a 4-zone RGB keyboard that you can easily recognise from the AMD variant Acer Nitro 5, nothing new there. You also still get WiFi 6 capability with Killer Ethernet E2600 support for smooth and stable online gaming experience.

  • Nitro52021intel 5
  • Nitro52021intel 6

Unlike the AMD counterpart, the Intel powered Acer Nitro 5 only comes in two flavours though. You can choose between the more powerful Intel Core i7-11800H paired with a 16GB RAM variant and a more moderate Intel Core i5-11400H with 8GB of RAM. The Inte Core i7 variant is now available at Acer official online store, Acer’s official Shopee store, and Acer’s officially Lazada store for MYR 5,699. Every purchase made between now and 9th July 2021 will come with a free Acer Gateway FAE-i5 pro Wireless Earphones (MYR 239).

If you are on a budget and planning to get the Acer Nitro 5 with Intel’s Core i5-11400H with 8GB RAM instead, it will set you back MYR 4,799. It will only be available in Malaysia at the end of July 2021 though. For more information on Acer’s Nitro 5, do visit Acer’s website.

POCO Launches the M3 – Paying for More than You Expectry Level Smartphone

What can US$ 149 (MYR 599**) get you today? In Malaysia, MYR 600 is what you can expect to pay if you buy about three PlayStation games. Smartphones? You are talking about an entry-level smartphone; something basic maybe.

If you are spending that amount of money on a smartphone, we can tell you a few things. Firstly, you do not expect it to perform like a Samsung Galaxy S device. We will also tell you that it might be a good secondary device for you, if you already have a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S device. Beyond not expecting to have a device with the quality of a Samsung Galaxy S device, we would also say that you do not expect much. Sure, you can work with all the basic functions of a smartphone like Whatsapp messaging, making calls, play simple games, go to the web, play music, watch videos on YouTube and Netflix, but do not expect a stellar experience with it.

All of the above may be true, until now. You see, smartphone manufacturers like Samsung and HUAWEI have been focusing mainly on pushing their branding into their own class. They want their brand to be premium in perception. In that case, a smartphone worth MYR 599 might not be great if you reach out to these brands. This is not the case for POCO though.

Source: POCO

POCO is a brand that was born to beat the bigger name brands at their own game. They are value players in the field and seems to offer you something more than what you are paying for. That is always true for their higher end devices. Thing is, POCO has never made entry-level smartphones before until they launched the M3 just now.

Before you pass off judgment and give the device a pass though, you should know that POCO has brought their value-for-money philosophy and approach to the device they just launched today. The only difference between this and the high-end device is the low pricing starting at US$ 149 (MYR599**). What the device packs sounds like you are paying for more than it is worth.

First off, the processor, as usual. The POCO M3 comes with a brand-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 System on a Chip (SoC) that is supposed to be more powerful than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 platform. Which also means that you are getting something that is more comparable to a mid-range smartphone in power than a lowly entry-level. The 11nm Octa-core chip also packs a Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU to boot and has a dedicated AI engine built-into the chip. While it does not mean that the device will top out any benchmark charts, the SoC is powerful enough to run Android 10 smoothly and work with most games nicely.

Source: POCO

With the SoC also comes a 4GB RAM. 4GB RAM does not sound like a lot in today’s standards for smartphones. To be fair, it is not that much. 4GB RAM though is enough for a modern Android device and some multitasking. You can still get away with multiple apps open in the background and browse the web with a few tabs on.

While 4GB of RAM might not help that much with speeds, the UFS 2.2 (up to) storage that measures at 128GB (up to) should help you with data read and write speeds. That also means that you can instantly access most of the apps within the device with no speed issues at all. Sure, it may not be as snappy as the flagship devices, but it should still be quick enough that you might not notice the difference.

The triple camera module still features 48-Megapixel in resolution. The main shooter has a 2-Megapixel macro camera and a 2-Megapixel depth sensor for support and more photography options. Of course, there is a front-facing camera that sits pretty in a Dot Drop notch above the display with 8-Megapixel power.

Source: POCO

While there is nothing to shout about in the camera department, the display should be commended. It is a large 6.53-inch Full HD+ display that is only disturbed by the notch for the front-facing camera. You can get it up to 400nits in brightness and it is TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certified. Best of all though it sits under a Corning Gorilla Glass to protect it from clumsiness and stratches.

All this goodness is powered by a larger-than-ever 6,000mAh battery. A Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra only has a 4,500 mAh battery. The 6,000mAh battery should keep you running for days from a single charge. When the power runs out, quickly get it up and running again with 18W fast charging and the included 22W charger. If you really need to, the 6,000mAh battery can share its charge with other devices, so you are now your friends’ hero too.

Additionally, the POCO M3 comes with Dual Speakers and 3.5mm jack. Your old earphones can get some loving from the device. With Hi-Res Audio certification, your older high-end earphones can get some love. That Also means you can load up Hi-Res audio files into the device too if you want. Maybe you might want to consider getting a 512GB MicroSD card for your Hi-Res audio files though.

The POCO M3 will be available on the 27th November 2020 onward globally and in Malaysia in two storage configurations: 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. For now, in Malaysia, the POCO M3 will only be available in Cull Blue, and Power Black colour options. The POCO Yellow variant will be available at a later date (pending announcement). You can get your hands on one exclusively via Xiaomi Official Store on Lazada for MYR 599 (US$ 149*) and MYR 699 (US$169*) respectively. On sales launch date though, customers can get the devices for MYR 499 (US$129***) and MYR 599 (US$149***) respectively while stocks last. In addition to the MYR 100 discount on the device, buyers will also get a Mi In-ear Basic Piston Earphone, while stocks last. For more information on the POCO M3 you can head out to their website.

HUAWEI Y6P for the Beginners

If you are in the market for a new smartphone for the first time, you are going to get a little bit of a shock when you see the prices of mobile devices today. You are seeing devices hitting the MYR 7,000 ceiling these days and with spec sheet more complicated than the blueprints of a Death Star.

Of course, you pay for features and quality as well. You pay for being at the cutting edge, the state-of-the-art. That has become the definition of a mobile device in your pocket these days though. They are nearly buttonless slates that are very high-tech and awfully expensive, and at the same time strangely fragile. Yes, it is a strange world we live in.

When you first invest in a smartphone too, you might not want to spend more than MYR 1,000 on your smartphone. After all, feature phones did not exceed that kind of money even when they were brand new. There are a few options for you. One of them is the HUAWEI Y6P that is now available in Malaysia for MYR 559. That already ticks the ‘under MYR 1,000’ box.

Source: HUAWEI

Another thing that older feature devices have is a super long battery life. A single charge can take days to deplete while only taking an hour to charge. Premium smartphones these days can barely last a full 24 hours day before needing a plug in. The Y6P is not like that though. It comes with one of the largest battery capacities in the conventional smartphone market today. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery. No, you cannot swap it out, but it is still a large battery. That, combined with HUAWEI’s brilliant knowhow is battery life preservation means that you should easily last a day or two without ever needing a tether to your walls. ‘Long-lasting battery’, check.

Source: HUAWEI

Of course, the move to smartphones have some major benefits. One of them is that you get properly nice photos from their high-resolution camera. Premium smartphones come with the latest and greatest of camera technology to produce the best possible photos and videos. Thing is, smartphone camera technology now progresses in diminishing returns. Certain mid-range and even entry-level smartphones have cameras that rival the premium smartphones in terms of Megapixel count, camera software and algorithm, and resulting photo and video quality.

The HUAWEI Y6P comes with dual cameras at the back. One is a 13-Megapixel camera that captures high-resolution, crisp photos that you can use to share with your family or family members. The other is an ultra-wide angle camera that can capture even more than the 13-Megapixel shooter. You can capture beautiful landscapes in expanded detail and tell the world of social media that you also can be a photographer.

It even comes with an 8-Megapixel front facing camera for you to shoot selfies or profile photos with. Obviously for your friends to identify you. If not, you can use the front-facing camera to take photos of yourself in your travels, just to show off a little bit maybe. ‘Cameras’, check.

Source: HUAWEI

Of course, one of the biggest appeals in switching to a smartphone is the number of apps that you can access on a single small slate that fits in your palms and pockets. All this comes from the HUAWEI AppGallery for the HUAWEI Y6P. The AppGallery is currently the third largest app marketplace in the world. While there are some missing apps compared to Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store, the HUAWEI AppGallery ecosystem is growing every day. The essential eWallet apps are already available on the AppGallery. Even some banking apps are already available. ‘Apps’, check.

With a high-resolution camera and access to endless number of apps, you are going to need a large storage to ensure that you have access to everything you need and put into the device in its lifetime. You get 64GB in storage with the HUAEI Y6P, which is ample space to work with for both your photos and apps. You even get a whole year of access to 15 extra GB of HUAWEI’s Cloud storage to offload some of your photos and files over when you need to. Or, insert a MicroSD card into the expansion slot to get up to 512GB of extra storage. Need multiple apps running at the same time? 4GB of RAM should be able to deal with that. Oh, and the MediaTek processor running within the device is more than capable enough to run multiple apps at the same time.

Source: HUAWEI

Now you are also wondering what else you can do with the 6.3-inch display. You can watch movies with it by either loading your downloaded movies into the native storage of the device. You can also look through HUAWEI’s Video app to see what you might want to watch. Of course, that is a subscription-based service like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. You can also watch Viu contents through that 6.3-inch display though, for free no less. All you need to do to start watching endless Asian shows is claim the free membership of Viu through Member center on the HUAWEI Y6P. ‘Entertainment’, check.

The HUAWEI Y6P is now available via HUAWEI’s online store and retail partners across the nation for MYR 559. You can get your’s in three colour choices: Emerald Green, Phantom Purple and Midnight Black. The free Premium Access to Viu promotion is currently exclusive to the HUAWEI Y6P. For more information on the HUAWEI Y6P, you can visit their website.

Realme 6 Launches in Malaysia for MYR 999– Online as Well, Of Course

If you go out into the smartphone market right now, you would be spoiled for choice. You have not even set a budget. So let us say that you have a budget of MYR 1,000 for a smartphone. That part of the market, while not as filled as the mid-range market from MYR 1,000 – MYR 3,000 market range, is still quite a crowd.

You get plenty of offerings from most of the Chinese brands. They are not some brands you never heard of too. They are reputable brands that have been in the market for some time now, with proven products and strategy. You have brand names like OPPO, who have started making great flagships like their OPPO Find X2 series. You have Xiaomi who had innovated with their Mi Mix Alpha wraparound display. You have HONOR and HUAWEI who made headlines with their own flagships too.

The point is, they make smartphones that sells at below MYR 1,000 as well; and they are not half bad products at that price. You still get the latest Android, the latest hardware to work with, not the most high-end of stuff; but you get the picture. It is a tough market to be in.

Source: Realme

That is where the Realme brand shines though. They make budget friendly devices at great prices. Their latest offering just resonates that quality of theirs. The Realme 6 that was just launched in Malaysia a few days ago.

The Reame 6 is not some kind of revolutionary product that completely changes Realme’s range of smartphones. It is to replace the Realme 5, yes; but it is more like an evolution that a revolution.

The display, for example is not that big of a step up in terms of size. At 6.5-inch, it is still the same size with the Realme 5. The notch that was on the Realme 5 is now a punch-hole on the top-left corner of the display. The resolution is also bumped up to Full HD+ instead of HD+. You also get 90Hz refresh rate with the display, and 12Hz sampling rate. Then again, 90Hz is becoming a norm these days.

Source: Realme

The upgrades do not just end there though. It is throughout the whole device. The device is packing improved power too thanks to the MediaTek MT6785 Helio G90T Octa-core system on a chip (SoC). They tout it as a gaming class processor, like almost everything else in the market. It does work well on games like PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends though, as demonstrated in a livestream.

That Octa-core processor unit is helped by 4GB of RAM, which may not seem like a lot; but 4GB is more than enough most of the time on a smartphone. You are not getting shorthanded in your storage size though; 128GB in storage, in fact. You even get a MicroSD slot if you need to expand your storage size.

Source: Realme

Out the back is still a quad-camera layout; no one is crazy enough to make an official appearance of a five-camera layout just yet. Instead of a 12-Megapixel shooter though, you get a bumped up 64-Megapixel main shooter. That is supported by an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-Megapixel Macro lens, and a 2-Megapixel Black and White lens which also acts as a depth sensor. Out the front is a 16-Megapixel shooter, that is also a bump up from 13-Megapixel of the Realme 5. Of course, with the main shooter you can shoot videos t up to 4K resolution.

All this power is no use if you cannot bring it out of the house or leave your charger behind. It comes with a 30W fast charging capability on its 4,300 mAh battery. It is charged via a USB Type-C cable too, so there is that. On another plus side, it still has a 3.5mm jack so your old headphones are not obsolete.

The Realme 6 will be available 27th March 2020 onward on Realme’s online retail partners for MYR 999. The device will be available in two colours options – Comet White, and Comet Blue. In conjunction with Lazada’s birthday party sale, Realme will bring the price down on the 27th March 2020 to MYR 799, exclusively on Lazada Malaysia from 12.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. Of course, more information can be found on their website, or you can head to Lazada Malaysia to check it out.

OPPO A91 Launches in Malaysia – Back to Basics

OPPO has been known for its budget friendly, value-for-money devices. Over the years also, they have been known as photography masters with their devices. Okay, they have not been topping the photography benchmarks until now with the OPPO Find X2 Pro. Still, we have always liked and OPPO budget smartphone. We like their entry-level and mid-range offers because they are actually quality products. They are well made, and they work well for what you are paying. They feel optimised.

Smartphones have gotten more expensive these days. This is also consistent with OPPO’s offerings over the years. Occasionally though, there is a device that just goes back to basics. For OPPO, that device is the OPPO A91 that is just launched today.

No, there is no big launch gambit. If you are not updated just yet, Malaysia is now under lock down order from the government. Non-essential services and businesses are supposed to be closed and we are all force to work from home. Thank goodness for the Internet.

Source: OPPO

The OPPO A91 is a basic entry-level device at MYR 999. Despite the price though, it looks like a premium OPPO device. It is finished on both sides with glass, so it will also feel premium. If other smartphones from OPPO is any indication, the OPPO A91 should be a quality hardware too.

There is nothing to shout about when it comes to its processing power, a MediaTek Helio P70 Octa-core System on a Chip (SoC). It is what you commonly find on budget smartphones. It is still an adequately powerful SoC though. You get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage too, which is quite plenty for the price you pay.

Those things power up the Android 9.1 based ColorOS 6.1 projected to a 6.4-inch display. No, not a 720P HD display. You get a Full HD+ AMOLED display protected underneath a Gorilla Glass 5. You even get an in-display fingerprint sensor. All of this is powered by a 4,025 mAh battery that also comes with VOOC 3.0 charging to fully charge your device from an empty battery to full in an hour.

Source: OPPO

The biggest upsell of the OPPO A91 though is its camera. You do not only get two lenses, not even three. You get four lenses point out the back of the device. It features a 48-Megapixel main shooter that is partnered with an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, 2-Megapixel monochrome sensor, and a 2-Megapixel depth sensor. No telephoto lens to be found here. The ultra-wide lens can focus and capture images from a minimum distance of 3cm.

The camera software packs the usual AI beauty mode or AI scenes for an optimised photo. You also get the Night Portrait mode in this device for all your low-light shoots. Video is steadier than ever with the built-in Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS).

The OPPO A91 entry-level smartphone is available now for MYR 999 on OPPO’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada. From now to 26th of March, the OPPO A91 is now on sale for only MYR 899. Of course, terms and conditions apply.

realme C3 With MediaTek Helio G70 in Malaysia for MYR 499

realme has made a name for itself when it comes to budget friendly smartphones. While they mostly play at the budget, entry-level smartphone range, it does not mean that their products are in any way bad products though. Their C series has proven to the market that cheap products does not mean cheap quality and cheap experience. They have a proven track record in the segment is what we are trying to say.

Their latest addition to their C family has just landed in Malaysia today. What a follow up though. As expected, it is sold at less than MYR 1,000; way lower. It will set you back MYR 499. Who says you cannot own a smartphone below MYR 500?

Source: realme

You are not paying for less features too. It is powered by MediaTek’s latest Helio G70 System on a Chip (SoC). While some may perceive MediaTek’s processors to be slower or inferior to the Qualcomm’s that is just not the case. They may not perform as well as the Qualcomm chipsets, but that does not mean that they do not pack a punch.

The MediaTek Helio G70 SoC is effectively an Octa-core processor with two high powered ARM Cortex-A75 cores and six low powered Cortex A-55 cores. It clocks at a maximum of 2.0GHz, which is powerful enough to plenty of today’s flagships, technically. The only thing it might lack at this point is a 5G modem. While that seems like a bad thing, trust me, it is not as bad as you think.

While you do not get 5G, you still get dual 4G LTE connection on the realme C3. Yes, a you get to push in two SIM cards into this device. Then again, dual-SIM standby is quite expected these days. Nothing to shout about then.

Having the MediaTek Helio G70 however, is something that they can shout about a little bit. The realme C3 is currently the only device that packs the MediaTek SoC in Malaysia.

Source: realme

The big power from the MediaTek SoC is matched to three cameras at the back. Yes, it is effectively a triple camera set-up. We did say that it packs quite a lot for MYR 499.

Its main camera is a 12-Megapixel shooter paired to 12-Megapixel telephoto lens with 4x zoom, and a 2-Megapixel macro lens for that extra close, extra detailed photo. At the front is a 5-Megapixel shooter with the expected AI beauty function, HDR, and what not. That front-facing camera is housed in a small notch on top of the 6.5-inch 720p HD+ LCD display.

Small compromise on the display, a Full HD+ display on a small budget smartphone at this price is quite impossible, you know. You still can record at Full HD 1080p on your rear camera though, no problem with that.

Source: realme

No, you do not get in-display fingerprint sensor on this device too. Again, expecting those kinds of things in a smartphone less than MYR 500 is a little unrealistic. Still, it has a fingerprint sensor recess at the back of the device. The back is not really glass but has a nice beaming texture and pattern to it.

What it lacks in those features though, it makes up in battery size. It packs a 5,000mAh battery within its small body. That should be good for a whole day of battery and even more. You can even use this device as your friend’s power banks so they owe you their lives. The Android 10 with realme UI overlay device is charged at a maximum of 10W via a MicroUSB port; a little old school, but hey it works. Also you may reuse all the old MicroUSB cables you might already have.

The realme C3 is now available via Shopee for MYR499. If you get the device today itself, you will get a 6-month extended warranty for free. You can get your hands on one to feel and touch from the 7th of March 2020 though if you really want to. If you missed the extended warranty promotion on Shopee, you can also get the same promotion when you get your device in realme stores on the 7th of March 2020. The realme C3 is available in Blazing Red and Frozen Blue colour options.

FUJIFILM X-T200 Shoots Its Way into Malaysia!

When the FUJIFILM brand reinvented itself by introducing their revolutionary mirrorless APS-C sensor X-T100, they became an icon of the digital photography field. It has come to no wonder with the X-T100. It was popular for a particular reason. No, it was not cheap; at more than MYR 2,000 you might be able to get better deals from the likes of Nikon or Canon. That is if you just want a camera that gives you the ability to interchange lenses.

The FUJIFILM X-T100 is plenty more than that though. They call in an entry-level shooter, but it does not function like one. It features plenty more than just interchangeable lens flange and a shutter button with auto focus. There are plenty of buttons and customisation options for new and veteran photographers alike. You can configure the X-T100 to however your ideal set-up is. You may hardly find the same two FUJIFILM X-T100 side by side if you do things right. The image quality offered by the 24-Megapixels that is packed in the APS-C sensor is not too shabby as well. All that for less than MYR 3,000.

To replace a popular performer like the FUJIFILM X-T100 then is not easy. They have to do it anyway though, with the new FUJIFILM X-T200. You may not look at the X-T200 as a large improvement over the X-T100 though, it is more like X-T100 1.5 or something rather.

You get a mirrorless APS-C sensor with 24.2-Megapixel packed in; pretty much similar to the X-T100. You can choose from the three great and timeless colour trims too; Champagne Gold, Dark Silver (or grey), and Silver. The capable entry-level FUJIFILM still shoots movies in 4K as well, still.

What is new though is the FUJIFILM X-T200’s new lightweight construction at 370g. That is about 80g lighter than its father. Speaking of construction, the body also features a hand grip notch that you cannot find on the X-T100. That also means it is more comfortable and secure to hold, though at the expense of compactness.

The old three-way tilt LCD display is now a vari-angle display that gives photographers plenty more flexibility in shooting, you no longer have to lie on the floor to get your shots. Of course, because it is a mirrorless camera, you get the same great electronic ViewFinder as well.

While you get the largely similar 24.2-Megapixel sensor, FUJIFILM fitted the X-T200 with new copper wiring for faster response times and faster processing. The X-T200 can process images at 3.5 times faster than the old X-T100. With the new sort of wiring too, rolling shutter for video shooting is claimed to be reduced. Of course, there is a new phase detection auto focus which speeds it up and increases its reliability.

The old software is not going to cut it for the FUJIFILM X-T200. The software has to match the new hardware changes too. So the new software supports up to 11 digital Film Simulation modes on the X-T200. In that sense, there is a colour adjustment for every scene and shooting condition. In other words, upgrade your Instagram photography game.

The FUJIFILM X-T200 is expected to start selling in Malaysia in the late February, 2020. You can expect it to go for MYR 3,588. For that price you get a FUJIFILM X-T200 camera body itself paired to a FUJINON XC15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ kit lens. As mentioned earlier, it will be available in three different colourways too; Silver, Dark Silver, and Champagne Gold.
