Senheng App Supercharges Savings & Benefits with S-Coin, Becoming a One-Stop Shopping Destination

Malaysians are increasingly turning to digital rewards programs for savings and convenience, as revealed by data from the Senheng App. This trend highlights a shift in consumer behaviour, with Malaysians seeking to maximize their purchasing power in a challenging economic climate.

Senheng App Goes Beyond Electronics

The Senheng App is evolving beyond simply bridging the gap between its physical stores and customers. It’s transforming into a powerful competitor to established e-commerce platforms like Lazada and Shopee. While electronics remain a core focus, the app now offers a wider product range, including groceries and movie tickets, catering to a broader range of everyday needs.

Senheng App 4

Data from the Senheng App paints a clear picture: App downloads have more than doubled between Q1 2023 and Q1 2024, and Senheng PlusOne Membership registrations have tripled in the same period. This growth signifies a strong consumer desire for online convenience and rewarding experiences. Furthermore, the continued app adoption and membership growth despite economic uncertainties showcase loyalty programs’ enduring appeal.

S-Coin: Fueling Your Savings

Looking closer at the data, it’s evident that S-Coin adoption goes beyond mere transactions. Malaysians are using S-Coin, a digital rewards currency exclusive to Senheng’s PlusOne members, as a way to enrich their lives – from groceries to gadgets, they’re leveraging this program to stretch their dollar and enjoy greater convenience.

Senheng App 2

The 23% increase in S-Coin collection through the Senheng App from Q1 2023 to Q1 2024 demonstrates a clear preference for loyalty programs that help offset rising costs. The 60% increase in active S-Coin users during the same period further emphasizes the program’s growing value in daily life for Malaysian households.

How S-Coin Works

Earned through eligible purchases via the Senheng App, Senheng stores, and partner platforms, S-Coin can be redeemed for discounts on a wide variety of products and services within the Senheng ecosystem. In a world where financial prudence is essential, the rise of digital rewards programs like S-Coin offers a valuable tool for Malaysians. By embracing loyalty programs, consumers can take control of their finances and unlock a more rewarding lifestyle.

Empowering Malaysians Through Savings and Convenience

“At Senheng, we’re committed to empowering Malaysians to make the most of their hard-earned money,” said Lew Wai Hoong, General Manager of Senheng App. “The surge in S-Coin adoption reflects a broader shift towards digital rewards and convenience. The Senheng App is not just a shopping platform; it’s a tool that allows Malaysians to make every ringgit count, ultimately enhancing their lifestyles.”

Razer Banks on Better, More Traceable Sustainability with Restorify

Sustainability is all the rage in the tech industry, with more companies committing to long-term sustainability plans. Razer is no different when it comes to that with lofty goals to become a nett zero carbon company by 2030. However, in working towards that, the company has also realised that it is currently difficult for businesses to be sustainable and transparent. This is further complicated by a system which values and measures carbon offsets and credits by the metric ton.

Restorify 2

With that realisation, Razer Fintech is working with partners such as GoNetZero, ESGpedia and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring Restorify. Restorify is Razer’s answer to creating a more sustainable e-commerce platform which is also transparent. Restorify also removes the barrier of needing to purchase metric tonnes of carbon credit with a more fractionalised approach, allowing every purchase to have a quantified carbon offset. This approach allows customers and e-commerce partners to be part of the equation contrasting vastly with the current state of relying solely on companies.

Restorify is looking to foster a more proactive mindset in consumers when it comes to purchasing. With the smaller denominations of carbon offset, it allows users and consumers to make carbon offsets a part of their daily lives. In an age where e-commerce has become the go-to platform for shopping, it makes sense as one of the main touchpoints to drive greener habits.

That said, carbon credits and offsets haven’t had the best reputation with Greenwashing and companies artificially inflating their carbon offsets. To combat this, Razer Fintech is partnering with agencies like GoNetZero and ESGPedia to ensure the quality and traceability of the carbon offsets offered on Restorify. It is hoped that the traceable carbon neutral shopping carts will help users and consumers be more aware of their carbon footprint as we shop.

Restorify 1

They will receive a certificate detailing the total amount of carbon emissions that have been offset by their purchase, the kinds of projects the credits have suppported as well as the certification standard. These individualised fractionalized transactions are digitally recorded into ESGpedia’s registry where you’ll be able to check your own individualised carbon offset.

Encouraging Businesses to Adopt More Accountable Sustainability

It’s not all about sharing the responsibility with consumers with Razer’s Restorify. It also aims to empower businesses with a more tangible pathway to evaluate and put into action plans in their commitment to become more sustainable. Restorify itself will provide businesses a pathway to evaluate the environmental impact of their products and business. They will be able to leverage ECOLOGO Certification, Environmental Product Declaration Certification, or Product Carbon Footprint Verification using UL Solutions.

Restorify 2

Razer is also working to bring Restorify and its features will be made available for businesses to integrate into existing platforms. In addition, Razer will be working with its supply chain partners and more than 50,000 merchants in Razer Fintech’s network to support their transition to nett zero carbon emissions at no additional cost. Restorify will also be available in over 150 countries through AWS.

Streaming Meets eCommerce in iQiyi’s New Comedy – My Ofis

iQiyi chose a very opportune time to launch in Malaysia back in 2019. With the pandemic only just setting in, the streaming service saw a surge in subscribers. While that’s great news for the streaming company, they’ve adopted a business model that isn’t your typical streaming service. They provide a free, ad-supported tier that gives users access to their content.

That said, the iQiyi isn’t just resting on its laurels. The company is focusing on bringing new, original content to its platform. Naturally, this includes new, locally-produced series and tv shows. The first to debut is My Ofis which is produced by Longhouse Films. My Ofis brings together an ensemble of both emerging and seasoned actors. Malaysian legend, Alvin Wong stars together with Aeril Zafrel, Nasz Sally, Kahoe Hon, Phraveen Arikiah, Sherwyn Pang, and Pearlly Chua in My Ofis to bring to life the shenanigans that take place behind the scenes in a quintessential Malaysian office.

My Ofis follows Jasper (Kahoe Hon) as he leaves behind his rockstar dreams to care for his grandmother. He finds himself stumbling into a job at My Ofis run by KS (Aeril Zafrel) and his colleagues, Paul (Alvin Wong), Jessica (Nasz Sally), and Milo (Phraveen Arikiah). The series chronicles the antics of the people behind My Ofis as they navigate the business landscape.

The series will be premiering on 26th May 2022 on iQiyi. The debut season will consist of 12 episodes airing over six weeks. Each episode is 24 minutes long.

Of course, the show is just the beginning when it comes to My Ofis. iQiyi and Longhouse Productions are looking to revolutionize advertising on streaming platforms. Both companies are partnering with a local eCommerce app, JOCOM, to bring a new “watch, scan & buy” concept with the launch of My Ofis.

“Together with our partners Longhouse Films and JOCOM, we aim to work towards shaping a new content ecosystem fitting for today’s digital age, that empowers traditional brands and sellers to further digitalise through entertainment. My Ofis will open doors to more opportunities in bridging entertainment and eCommerce to support local brands, advertisers and marketers,”

Dinesh Ratnam, Country Manager of iQiyi Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei

The new concept will see QR codes pop up when there is any product placement in the drama. Users can then scan these codes and immediately purchase the items from the JOCOM app as they are watching the series. The new concept literally allows production houses to better monetize product placements in their series. Of course, My Ofis is just the beginning when it comes to exploring this new concept.

My Ofis will premiere on May 26, 2022, across all countries where iQiyi is available. It’s already been greenlit for a second season which will be launched soon.

Scope out “Deals Near Me” with ShopeePay

Shopee is making it easier for users to get more value with their eWallet offering. The eCommerce platform has introduced a new feature which emphasizes their online-to-offline (O2O) approach. The new offering allows merchants to acquire footfall from Shopee users by listing offers and deals on the Shopee app.

With COVID-19 impacting consumer behaviour, many customers are going online first when it comes to purchasing daily essentials including ordering food. The new “Deals near me” feature aims to help retailers take advantage of the change to not only drive footfall to their outlets. Merchants are able to entice customers with attractive offers such as cashbacks and coupons on the Shopee app. Shopee boasts that the feature has already driven footfall of over 100,000 to 130 merchants who have adopted the feature since April 1.

“Deals Near Me helps merchants improve their online visibility and direct would-be customers to their outlets when we feature their cashback deals to consumers that are already in the vicinity. Showing the relevant deals to consumers can also lead to higher conversion and tangible sales for merchants. This is important for business recovery after an extended lockdown period that adversely impacted offline retailers, especially those in the service sector. We also believe that this new feature creates a win-win situation for both our users and participating merchants as we enable a convenient, seamless and rewarding shopping experience.”

Alain Yee, Head of ShopeePay Malaysia

The feature comes just in time for Shopee’s annual Hari Raya sales. This year’s Raya Bersama Shopee will see offers not only on Shopee’s eCommerce platform but also in the new “Deals near me” feature. Users can take advantage of Sahur Specials at 5AM, Jom Berbuka dengan ShopeePay at 12PM and Moreh Specials at 10PM. Vouchers can be bought for as little as 5 sen for cashback of up to MYR8. Participating merchants include Nasi Kandar Pelita, Nando’s, TGI Friday’s, Boat Noodle, Johnny’s, OLDTOWN White Coffee, J.Co Donut and Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart.

In addition, Shopee will be having their Jualan Hebat Raya on 23 April 2021 and Pesta Jualan Raya on 5 May 2021. These days will come with numerous deals that Shopee users will be able to take advantage of. As usual, the deals will encompass everything from home appliances to outfits and decorations with discounts of 80%.

Shopee Brings Next Day Shipping in time for 3.3 Supermarket Sale

Shopee, one of Malaysia’s largest e-commerce platforms, is bringing next day delivery to its users. The platform will be offering next day deliveries for Peninsular Malaysia excluding Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terrengganu through its Shopee Xpress service. The offer kicked off on 18 February 2021 as the platform geared up for its upcoming 3.3 sale.

The next-day delivery offer applies to purchases on Shopee Mart with the “Next-Day Delivery” tag. Keep in mind that your order will also need to be placed before 12PM daily to make use of the service. Orders placed after 12PM will be considered orders for the next day and will be delivered the day after. So, if you order at 1 PM on Monday, you’ll be receiving your order on Wednesday. If eligible orders do not make it to their destination by the next day, users will receive a free shipping voucher for their next Shopee Mart purchase.

The new service comes in response to the data reported by iPrice and Parcelhub which showed that Malaysians experienced a 119% increase in delivery times in 2020’s movement control order (MCO). This made Malaysia the country with the longest delivery time for online purchases in the region.

Shopee’s next-day delivery offer is only the tip of the iceberg as the company has been working with partners to facilitate a faster, more convenient delivery process. They have since increased the number of Shopee Xpress drop-off points to more than 300 nationwide with partners such as Parcelhub and Mailboxes Etc (MBE). These new drop-off points are expected to help reduce turnover times. To date, Shopee has successfully reduced delivery times to East Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak) from 10 days to 4 days.

During their 3.3 sale, customers can get free shipping with a minimum spend of MYR10. Shopee is also offering daily 50% off deals and bargains from as low as MYR0.33. They will also be working with TV3 for a 3.3 Supermarket Show which will air at 9PM on 3rd March 2021.
