Penta Security Enters Indonesian Market by Signing New Distributor PT. Prospera Aswindra Teknologi

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 16, 2020 — Penta Security Systems Inc. signed a distribution agreement with PT. Prospera Aswindra Teknologi, Indonesia’s leading tech distributor for IT security products and solutions. This marks the South Korean security vendor’s official entry into the Indonesian market.

Being the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a country undergoing major digital transformation, Indonesia sees high demand for cybersecurity solutions as governments and businesses face a growing number of cyber threats. To tackle Indonesia’s cybersecurity challenges, protecting web applications from web attacks is crucial, making web application firewalls (WAF) a necessity for all organizations.

Penta Security’s WAPPLES has been chosen by PT. Prospera Aswindra Teknologi along with a number of other regional distributors, to fill out the WAF portion of their security solutions package. Different from signature-based detection systems, WAPPLES’ COCEP engine utilizes dozens of rules instead of thousands of signatures, significantly reducing latency while offering the same level of detection capability. WAPPLES’ users can choose from a total of 33 customizable rules to fine-tune their security policies to best handle their environment.

"To overcome the increased sophistication of web attacks, WAPPLES’ rule-based COCEP engine operates more logically and efficiently than existing WAFs in the market," said DS Kim, Chief Strategy Officer of Penta Security. "Our priority is to focus on staying ahead of the attacks whilst letting our users operate their businesses in the safest environment. We’re excited to move forward with the partnership and provide what’s really worth our customers’ investment."

Despite travel restrictions caused by COVID-19, Penta Security has been hosting a number of online seminars to support its channel partners, distributors, and business customers. A recent seminar designated for the Jakarta region drew attendance of more than 50 public and private organizations.

In the next 24 months, we will gradually expand and increase our presence from Southeast Asia to East Asia, South Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America with an aim of 20 countries and regions," he said. These countries and regions include Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in Southeast Asia; Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, in East Asia; India in South Asia; Austria, Denmark, France, Greece and Switzerland in Europe; Australia in Oceania; and Canada in North America.

He said Malaysia is a suitable host to support its expansion plans. "We have evaluated different countries and decided to house our first regional support centre in Malaysia. We have started our talent acquisition programme," said Kellady.

"We plan to recruit a core team of 15 to 30 specialists and account managers, then gradually expand to cope with demand from our subscribers," he explained. "Malaysia has an abundance of qualified talent that is used to dealing with a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment. We are capitalising on this advantage, which owes to this nation’s history of being the crossroad of global trade," he said during the unveiling of EFI’s first Regional Support Centre on August 21, 2020 to EFI supporters and community.

He added EFI has started implementing plans to apply for regulatory approval at every market that it intends to pursue. "Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, we think the opportunities in the digital currency or eFiat market is growing. It was valued at USD1.03 billion last year and we agree with projections that it will exceed USD1.40 billion in five years, growing at a CAGR of 5 per cent to 8 per cent during this period," he said. "The shifts in global markets must be carefully scrutinised, monitored and we have assigned this task to our regional support centre."

With regulatory approval in hand, EFI intends to aggregate like-minded investors to benefit from its unique trading methodology, optimised to generate small but consistent interests. "Our proprietary Intelligent Calculation System or ICS will guide investors venturing to tap the global Fiat Currency. Our aggregation model will hopefully enable EFI to deliver responsible and sustainable returns for every investor."

"We are expediting our plans to seek approval from regulators in three countries: Malaysia, Japan and Vietnam, and expect to be operational by the end of this year. In the meantime, we need to recruit and train adequate talent to support our ambitions," said Kellady, a 10-year banking and capitals markets veteran, who himself is multi-lingual and fluent in Mandarin and English.

EFI is ready to comply and meet regulatory criteria and has enacted its Disaster Recovery Plan due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "The safety of our employees is paramount. We have proactively been monitoring the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and applaud tough measures adopted by the Malaysian Government. We are confident Malaysia will have a shorter recovery period. In the meantime, we have curtailed our employees from travelling and taking necessary precautionary measures to protect our clients, employees and stakeholders involved in our operations."

"We have been working remotely to implement our plans. This is the best time to explore and invest in infrastructure and talent, especially in Malaysia, as costs are lower than average, and the job market is on our side. We are continuing our operations while taking necessary steps to minimise the contagion risks of this outbreak. As such, we wish to assure everyone that we will continue to abide by established procedures like social distancing and implement additional measures as deemed necessary. EFI is contributing to keep our communities safe and help break the chain of infection for Covid-19."

The combined presence of Cloudflare’s global network (which spans more than 200 cities in over 100 countries, including 17 in mainland China) and Megaport (with over 700 enabled data centres globally), makes it easier to protect networks from even more locations. The partnership of Megaport and Cloudflare means customers can directly connect to Cloudflare’s network even if they are not in the same data centre.

Phase one will provide direct access to Cloudflare’s network. This includes acceleration and security services such as Cloudflare Magic Transit, DDoS protection, and security solutions. Access will be available on three continents from 14 initial metro markets, with more locations planned for the future. Megaport and Cloudflare have a history of collaboration, with Cloudflare joining Megaport Internet Exchange (MegaIX) in 2014.

"Cloudflare and Megaport are driven to offer greater flexibility to our customers," said Matt Simpson, Vice President, Cloud Services, Megaport. "In addition to accessing Cloudflare’s network on Megaport’s global internet exchange service, customers can now provision on-demand, secure connections through our Software Defined Network directly to Cloudflare Network Interconnect on-ramps globally. With over 700 enabled data centres in 23 countries, Megaport extends the reach of CNI on-ramps to the locations where enterprises house their critical IT infrastructure. Because Cloudflare’s network is interconnected with our SDN, customers can point, click, and connect in real time. We’re delighted to grow our partnership with Cloudflare and bring CNI to our services ecosystem—allowing customers to build multi-service, securely-connected IT architectures in a matter of minutes."

Key Points:

  • Megaport’s Network as a Service solution enables customers to directly and securely connect and integrate between on-premises, cloud, and third-party application environments with ease and choice.
  • Customers can connect to Cloudflare’s global network from any of Megaport’s more than 700 enabled data centres in North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe.
  • Establish and configure a private network interconnection to Cloudflare’s network in a matter of minutes across Megaport’s SDN. Deployments complete in minutes, not days.
  • Reduced hardware dependency means fewer capital expenses. Customers can privately connect to Cloudflare’s network using Megaport’s platform, and replace on-premises hardware with network functions delivered and billed as a service.
  • Cloudflare provides a scalable, unified control plane to deliver security, performance, and reliability for multi-cloud deployments. Enforce the same security policies across all clouds, regardless of cloud vendor. Cloudflare provides multi-cloud load balancing, distributing traffic across different clouds, and CDN caching in order to further reduce latency with the advantage to lower egress charges from public cloud vendors.
