Razer Introduces the New Razer Blade 15 – The 2023 Baby Razer Blade

Technically, as screen sizes go, this is not the smaller Razer Blade you can buy. There is a Razer Blade 14 which featured a smaller 14-inch display. As far as we know, they have made no announcement of the Blade 14 laptop, so we are going to treat the new Razer Blade 15 as the 2023 baby Razer Blade.

Contrary to what the name of the naming scheme of the name suggests, the Razer Blade 15 is not what you want to call entry-level. Far from it in fact, the 15-inch gaming laptop is designed to be as powerful as 15-inch laptops of its class can be. They say that the Razer Blade 15 is designed for those who wants to take their AAA games anywhere in the world while remaining as thin as laptops of this class can be.

As their marketing blurb suggests, the Blade 15 is designed to be uncompromised while remaining as portable as your textbooks. It still weighs about 2kg though, which is not all that light for a laptop this size. Still, you might not be too alarmed by its weight when you know what is within the 17mm (16.99mm to be exact) thick body.

Inside you can find up to 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM. That should be a good indication to what you can expect to find within the all-metal body of the Razer Blade 15. To ensure that the Windows 11 laptop can run DDR5 memory at that speeds, Razer installed Intel’s 13th Generation Core processor. You can opt for Intel’s Core i7-13800H high-performance CPU with up to 14 cores clocking at up to 5.2GHZ (turbo). Alongside a powerful CPU and high-performance RAM, you need a powerful GPU to match too. This one comes with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 (up to) if you want.

Herein lies the problem. High-performance parts fitted into the Razer Blade 15 needs a lot of cooling. There is not a lot of space in the a body that is 25% smaller than the next best thing, the Razer Blade 16. They enhanced their vapor chamber cooling solution and put their exhaust fins on a diet to save space. That the same time, they made everything more efficient to ensure there is sufficient cooling within the svelte body of the Blade 15.

It is a laptop, so they need to ensure that it still has all the right qualities to make it as portable and mobile as possible. From its 80Wh battery, they say the Blade 15 can extract up to 6 hours of battery life. Its display offers a mobile viewing experience like no other with up to QHD in 16:10 aspect ratio goodness, and up to 240Hz in fluidity. When the mood takes you, 2.5ms in response time should keep you competitive no matter where you are seated. If cinematic games is what you care about, the 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut should take you to another world. You can kit your Razer Blade 15 with up t 4TB of storage too to ensure you have enough space for all your games, your movies, and your work documents as well.

[CES 2023] Razer Announces New Blades – Back to Intel and Better than Ever

Razer has always been known to go a little over the top in conventions like CES. They like to show off their latest innovations, tease new concepts specifically for gaming, and they have always launched some very interesting products. This year is not so different from before, maybe just a tad subdued.

The launched the new Razer Blades for 2023 in CES, rightly so. The announcement of the new Razer Blades could also be a domino effect from the announcement of NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX 40 series for mobile platforms and AMD’s latest Ryzen 7000 series for laptops. Oddly enough, you are not going to be seeing AMD’s best on the announced 2023 line-up of Razer Blades.

They launched a 16-incher Razer Blade 16 and a desktop replacing Razer Blade 18 with a behemoth sized 18-inch display. Both come with Intel’s latest 13th generation Core CPUs (up to Core i9 HX). You also get NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX 40 series mobile GPUs (up to GeForce RTX 4090) in these laptops with up to 175W TGP. Of course, you get DDR5 5600MHz memory to make these laptops the fastest ever you might see for a while. To ensure you get the best performance to begin with, the new Razer Blades also come with a redesigned vapor chamber cooling technology for even more effecting heat management. In a smaller, tighter space.

Just as its name suggests, the Razer Blade 16 packs a 16-inch 16:10 display. The panel is Mini-LED technology which means you get colours like you’ve never seen before on a laptop display. Well, you can technically get almost the same experience with OLED, but Mini-LED has its own advantages you might not get on a regular OLED panel. The display is also HDR capable with up to 1000 nits in brightness. The NVIDIA G-Sync capable display also offers up to 100% in DCI-P3 colour gamut to offer one of the richest display experience you can get on a laptop.

You can also opt for up to UHD+ in resolution on the Mini-LED panel. It is not a slow UHD display too, like you might expect on most UHD displays on a laptop. It responds in 3ms, which is mighty fast even in QHD resolution, we are talking double the number of pixels here. You also get up to 120Hz in refresh rate with the 4K display. You can get more speed too at 240Hz if you go FHD+ in resolution. You can choose between the two in one laptop device. They call the UHD+ 120Hz mode the ‘creator mode’ and the FHD+ 240Hz configuration the ‘Gamer Mode’.

They also say that the Razer Blade 16 will be the most powerful 16-inch laptop of its size in terms of graphics power. The use Graphics Power Density (GPD) as a measuring metrics, and this has 1.50 of them. It supposedly offer 35% processing power than any other 16-inch gaming laptop currently.

They did not mention the exact number for the DDR5 RAM they will be fitting the Razer Blade 16 with. We are guessing that they might go with 32GB or possibly 64GB at the top scale of things. They mentioned a speedy 5600MHz transfer speeds though, which is plenty fast in a laptop. They also mentioned that it is upgradeable, so even if you only get 16GB, you can spend a bit more money to bring it up to 32GB or even 64GB, if you have the budget.

Otherwise, you get what you can expect on most laptops from Razer. There is a Full HD webcam for video calls and even streaming purposes if you really need to. They quote up to 9.5 hours in battery life from a single charge. You get an infrared blaster near your webcam too for facial recognition security via Windows Hello, something you rarely find on gaming laptops. Of course, Razer’s Chroma RGB platform is available on the laptop. You can also expect great audio with THX Spatial Audio available on the Razer Blade 16.

Razer Blade 18

Then there is the gargantuan 18-incher that is the Razer Blade 18. Again, as its name suggests, it is am 18-inch display that you get from the desktop replacement. It is not meant to be used for remote working conditions unless you are talking about setting up a workstation for a week in a hotel room. But it is meant to be a gaming and content creation rig that is meant to keep your desk clean and minimal.

Its large 18-inch 16:10 display boasts QHD+ resolution. While a UHD+ display might serve the entertainment buffs better, the QHD+ resolution is a great compromise between gaming and content creation without too much fuss. You also get 240Hz in refresh rate at 3ms response time, perfect for gamers. At the same time, you get clarity like no other with 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.

Internally, other than Intel’s and NVIDIA’s latest processors, you can opt for up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 5200MHz transfer speeds. Alongside the ample memory is up to 2TB of M.2 NVMe drive for all your games. They say that the two M.2 slots can support up to 8TB in storage.

On top of those you get a 5MP webcam capable of Full HD resolutions on your video calls and even streaming headshots. You can get an infra-red sensor too with the Razer Blade 18 for facial recognition via Windows Hello. Unlike the Blade 16, it comes with six speakers with THX spatial audio so that you can save on buying a sound bar.

[E3 2021] Razer Blade 14 Launches with AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU – The Most Powerful 14-inch Laptop in the World is Here

Razer’s Blade series should be familiar with gamers around the world. After all, Razer has become one of the most valuable and best-known brands in the world of PC gaming. The Blade series kickstarted and revolutionised the whole ultra-thin, ultra-portable gaming laptop industry on its own technically.

The first Razer Blade had an all blacked out Apple MacBook-esque aesthatics but with internals that you could never find on any MacBook Pro. It packed all the right hardware for the ultimate modern gaming laptop at that time basically, but it was packed in a package quite unheard of in a gaming laptop. Of course, that got the whole world excited.

Imagine the hype then when there is a new Razer Blade laptop that is set to launch. Welcome to the Razer Blade 14. Razer claims that it is the world’s most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop and incidentally the thinnest of its type at just below 17mm thickness, or quite a little bit less than an inch at 0.66-inch. They have kept the clean slate design that is pretty much the signature of the Razer Blade series too.

Razer Blade 14 | The Ultimate AMD Gaming Laptop

It is not all looks with no push though. Inside the super thin laptop package is a display with up to 165Hz and up to Quad HD in resolution. This is technically a first in 14-inch notebooks. The 14-inch panel also features up to 100% sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage for the best-in-class colour reproduction on the display. With AMD’s FreeSync Premium technology, screen tearing is a thing of the past. Paired to THX Spatial Audio technology built into the device, gaming and movies are more immersive than before.

To power the super-fast display is an arrangement of equally impressive set of hardware. You get AMD’s most powerful Ryzen 5900HX processor. In this arrangement with AMD, the Ryzen 5900HX is also an unlocked high-performance 8-core CPU built to be the most powerful processor in a 14-inch notebook that is the Razer Blade 14. It is clocked at a maximum of 4.6GHz, which is not just great for games, but for content production as well. Because of the way AMD’s Ryzen Zen 3 processors consumer power too, Razer says that this can get up to 12 hours in battery life.

A powerful CPU needs to be paired to a powerful GPU too though. That powerful GPU comes in the line of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (up to). NVIDIA’s top-of-the-line mobile GPU will keep the 165Hz display running happy at a max resolution of QHD. IT also comes with Resizable BAR to allow memory sharing between the processor and the GPU for better power efficiency and more effective use of the systems depending on what is required in different conditions.

This much power in such a tight package produces another problem on a thin-and-light gaming laptop though. That problem to combat is heat, and with the hardware, a large amount of them. Razer pioneered the vapor chamber technology in the mobile computing space in their first Razer Blade and they are not about the be fazed by the new challenge of heat. They developed a new ultra-low-profile fans with 88 fan blades that are as thin as 0.1mm each, that is as thin as a human hair. The combination of the new ultra-low-profile fans with the proven vapor chamber technology, the Razer Blade 14 keeps itself cool and performing at the highest level.

Unlike plenty of modern ultra-thin notebooks today though, the Razer Blade 14 comes packing in I/O ports. You have one HDMI 2.1 port that supports 4K @120Hz output, no Mini DisplayPort though at our disappointment. You get two Gen 2 USB 3.2 Type-C ports too that supports display output and power delivery. There are two additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports for super-fast data transfers, or expansion. There is still even a 3.5mm audio jack that support THX Spatial Audio, so that you do not need to get an adapter, or buy a wireless solution to still enjoy your existing headphones.

On top of all of that, the Razer Blade 14 is made with immersive gaming, and productivity in mind at the same time. The anti-ghosting keyboard is back on the Razer Blade 14. It is a per-key Razer Chroma RGB keyboard too for you to really customise the PC to your own flavour. Like plenty of 14-inch notebook of its class, you get a 720p webcam. But it also comes with an IR blaster for Windows Hello facial recognition login on Microsoft Windows 10 that comes with the notebook.

Alongside the Razer Blade 14, Razer also launched their own revolution in charging technology. They released their Razer USB-C Ga Nitrate (GaN) Charger to the world. It is also Razer’s first and it pushes out a collective 130W in charging power. It can power up to four devices simultaneously (2x USB Type-C, 2x USB Type-A). It is also technically smaller than traditional chargers and even GaN chargers of its type. While it may be a third-party charger to use against your other smartphone, or tablet devices, it also packs all kinds of safety features to ensure that your devices are charged safely and cleverly.

Price and Availability

The all-new Razer Blade 14 will be available immediately from official RazerStores, selected retail partners worldwide, and Razer.com.
