Multi-source signal processing: The technology employs an advanced multi-source signal processing method that utilizes multiple sources of EEG signals, not just channel signals. This means it can capture and interpret brain activity more accurately, which improves the performance of the system.

Common spatial patterns (CSP): In the early stages of signal processing, CSP algorithms are applied to each sub-band to optimize the extraction of signal features. CSP is widely used in the field of BCI and helps to maximize the differentiation of different types of brain signals.

Blind source separation (BSS): The BSS is used to identify and separate unknown and independent sources in a mixed signal. This step helps to eliminate noise and artifacts and improves the reliability of the system.

ICA-based channel identification: This technology uses an algorithm based on independent component analysis (ICA) to identify and eliminate defective signal channels to reduce the impact of inefficient input signals on system performance.

Bayesian discriminant and linear discriminator based analysis (LDA) clustering algorithms: These advanced classification algorithms are used to improve the classification performance of the system, especially when dealing with human error in subjects. Signal acquisition: The first task is to acquire EEG signals. This can be accomplished with an electroencephalogram (EEG) electrode array, usually placed on the scalp. However, a multi-source signal processing approach will consider multiple signal sources, including EEG, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetoencephalography (MEG), etc., to capture brain activity information more comprehensively.

Signal preprocessing: Acquired signals often contain noise and interference and require preprocessing to clean up the data. This includes steps such as filtering, noise removal, and time/frequency domain transformations to ensure the quality of the input data.

Multi-source signal integration: Integrating signals from different sources into a unified data representation. This can be achieved by aligning and normalizing data from different signal sources for subsequent processing.

CSP: A CSP algorithm is applied to further enhance the characterization of brain signals. CSP is a supervised learning algorithm designed to maximize the distinction between brain signals with different motor imagery, thereby improving classification accuracy. BSS: The BSS technique is used to identify and separate unknown and independent sources in a mixed signal. This step helps to eliminate noise and artifacts, further improving the quality of the signal.

Feature extraction and selection: Features related to the motion imagery are extracted from the multi-source signals. This may include frequency domain features, time domain features, etc. Feature selection algorithms can also be used to reduce computational complexity and improve classification performance.

Classifier training and testing: A classifier is trained using a training dataset, e.g., support vector machines (SVMs), deep learning models, etc. The trained classifier can be used to map brain signals to specific motor imagery or actions.

Real-time feedback or applications: The final system could provide real-time feedback, connecting the user’s brain signals to external devices or applications. This could include controlling a smart wheelchair, movement in a virtual reality environment, game control, etc.

The system of this MI-BCI based on multi-source signal processing can be divided into the following key modules:

SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM, “SKT”) and Deutsche Telekom today announced that they signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to jointly develop a telco-specific LLM that enables global telecommunication companies (telcos) to develop generative AI models easily and quickly.

The LOI signing ceremony took place at SK Seorin Building located in Seoul with the attendance of key executives from both companies including Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SKT, Chung Suk-geun, Chief AI Global Officer of SKT, Tim Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, Claudia Nemat, Board Member Technology and Innovation of Deutsche Telekome, and Jonathan Abrahamson, Chief Product and Digital Officer of Deutsche Telekom.

This marks the first fruition of discussions held by the Global Telco AI Alliance, which was launched by SKT, Deutsche Telekom, E&, and Singtel, in July 2023, and lays the foundation to enter the global market.

SKT and Deutsche Telekom plan to collaborate with AI companies such as Anthropic (Claude 2) and Meta (Llama2) to co-develop a multilingual – i.e, German, English, Korean, etc. – large language model (LLM) tailored to the needs of telcos. They plan to unveil the first version of the telco-specific LLM in the first quarter of 2024.

The telco-specific LLM will have a higher understanding of telecommunication service-related areas and customer’s intentions than general LLMs, making it suitable for customer services like AI contact center.

The goal is to support telcos across the world, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, to develop generative AI services such as AI agents flexibly according to their respective environment.

This will enable telcos to save both time and cost for developing large platforms, and secure new business opportunities and growth engines through AI innovation that shifts the paradigm in the traditional telecommunications industry.

To this end, SKT and Deutsche Telekom plan to jointly develop AI platform technologies that telcos can use to create generative AI services to reduce both development time and cost.

For instance, when a telco tries to build an AI contact center based on generative AI, it itself will be able to build one that suits their environment more quickly and flexibly. In addition, AI can be applied to other areas such as network monitoring and on-site operations to increase efficiency, resulting in cost savings in the mid- to long-term.

Through this collaboration, the two companies will proactively respond to the recent surge in AI demand from telcos, while also promoting the expansion of the global AI ecosystem through the successful introduction of generative AI optimized for specific industries or domains.

  • Vantagepoint Client Summaries: Client Smart Summary leverages GenAI to provide an all-encompassing snapshot of a client’s status and history right at their fingertips. It includes an executive summary with general information about a client. This feature has been released in the latest version of Vantagepoint for licensed Vantagepoint CRM customers.
  • Costpoint Predictive Labor Forecasting: Many organizations have the challenge of predicting what resources they will need for which project and when based on opportunities that may close and current work. Predictive Labor Forecasting will predict the anticipated needs of the workforce and help to automate planning tasks. This feature is currently planned for release in 2024.
  • PM Compass Narrative Smart Score: PPM’s first GenAI powered feature, the PM Compass Narrative Smart Score, will help assess the quality and completeness of variance narratives before submission for review. Variance reporting is time consuming and challenging for contractors that must comply with EVM. The PM Compass Narrative Smart Score will dramatically improve the quality of variation narratives. This feature is currently planned for release in 2024.
  • Talent Management: Talent Management’s GenAI for Job Requisitions will assist in the creation of a job requisition when one does not yet exist and provide updated suggestions to existing requisitions to reflect current job market trends.
