Sony’s new trend of having a new device every 6 months seems to be in full swing. Rumours are surfacing of the manufacturers code names for their new line of devices set for release later this year.
The codenames come from a source on Chinese social Media, Weibo, and Digi-Wo. The sources indicate that there are currently three models under active development behind the scenes at Sony. The first, believed to be the successor to the current generation Sony Xperia Z2, current goes by the code name “Leo”. The device is believed to be launching as the Sony Xperia Z3, if Sony’s current naming scheme continues. The follow up to the Z2 Compact is believed to be code named “Aries” and is poised to be released under the Z3 Compact moniker.
Another device code named “Pegasus”, however, has many people curious. The device seems to be a follow up either to Sony’s Xperia Z2 Tablet or Sony’s Mid Range entry the Sony Xperia M2. All the devices are believed to carry Sony’s now standard design aesthetic or hard angled edges with it glass or plastic back.
Not much else is known about these devices yet but they are believed to be poised for a launch date in the next few months; September seems the most likely at the moment. We can definitely expect more rumours and leaks as the launch draws nearer, so let’s just wait and see what Sony’s next contender is going to look like.
