Sony’s Xperia line up of smartphones was revitalised with the recent introduction of the Xperia 1 in markets across the globe including Malaysia. Just recently, the company introduced another flagship class device with the Sony Xperia 5 at IFA 2019 with a new approach to their smartphones: a unified experience which marries all the offerings into one unified ecosystem. The new, smaller flagship is now making its way to Malaysia.
The Xperia 5 brings everything that made the Xperia 1 a successful device in a sleeker, smaller form factor. Everything from the top of the line processor to Sony’s BIONZ X camera system makes the cut in the new flagship from Sony. The new 21:9 CinemaWide display also makes its way into the Xperia 5’s compact body.
The Xperia 5 doesn’t just repackage the features of the Xperia 1. It brings some improvements. One of which is the inclusion of a feature which we’re used to seeing in the company’s popular Alpha line up of cameras – burst shooting. Just like the Sony Alpha cameras, the Xperia 5 will be able to do burst shots at a rate of 10 frames per second (fps) with autofocus (AF) and autoexposure (AE). In addition, it also brings an increased 30fps AF/AE calculations to capture moving subjects more precisely.
Aside from that, cinematography on the Xperia 5 is also improved with all improved Creator mode powered by CineAlta. The new improvements also allow users to create multiple projects with different settings; bringing more flexibility in adjusting white balance, manual focus and audio recording levels. This allows users more creative control when shooting with the Xperia 5’s triple camera setup. The Xperia 5 also allows users to trim and merge individual clips on the go.
The 21:9 CinemaWide display of the Xperia 5 is a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED panel. The display comes with the company’s X1 processor optimised for mobile. The X1 for mobile brings the performance of the company’s renown BRAVIA TVs to their smartphone. It brings High Dynamic Range (HDR) remastering technologies for better contrast, colour and clarity.
