Sony is one of those companies that makes, in our opinion, really good products. They are one of those many manufacturers that actually has plenty to offer in their portfolio. So much in fact that they could not figure out properly where they stand in the market. A few months ago Sony was facing some identity crisis which was proving to be negatively affecting their profit figures. Of course they have been struggling for a while with reds on their profit numbers and slouching revenues. The third quarter for Sony has not been kind to them as well.
The third quarter of 2014 saw Sony lost Japanese Yen 172 billion (MYR4.9 billion). JPY86 billion (MYR2.45 billion) of loss was from the mobile department, which just shows how bad the mobile department is doing. The saving grace for Sony though is their PlayStation 4. Compared to last year the sales of this gaming console has been improved at 83 percent, specifically it made JPY310 billion (MYR8.83 billion). In fact they have sold as much as 3.3 million units of the console compared to Microsoft’s XBox One and 360 with combined sales of 2.4 million units worldwide. Despite the strong sales figure it is not enough to give Sony’s board a sight of profit yet as of now. The rest of the departments of Sony are said to be doing just fine although reporting losses. We at techENT would actually like to see Sony bounce back in the near future, we always liked the idea of a Sony product and think that they consistently make really good looking products.
