Following the success of its flagship phone, the Xperia Z2, Sony looks to make waves in the mid-range smartphone market with the Xperia T3.
As it caters for the mid-range market, the Xperia T3 emphasizes design aspects over specifications. It sports a stainless steel frame, which gives the phone a premium feel while still being lightweight (approximately 140 grams). Sony has also branded this phone the world’s slimmest phone at 7mm, although they may not have been aware of the much thinner Gione Elife S5.5. With a 5.3-inch Bravia IPS display slapped on the front, the Xperia T3 truly feels premium for a mid range device. The device is available in white, black and purple colors.
The specs is where the Xperia T3 hits the ground. Under the hood is a quad-core Snapdragon 400 1.4GHz processor supported with 1GB of memory and 8GB of internal storage, expandable with microSD. Cameras are 8-megapixel Sony Exymos RS rear facing and 1.1-megapixel front facing. The display mentioned earlier is of 720p resolution and it comes bundled with Android 4.4 KitKat, with a Sony-based UI, as in their other Xperia devices. Unfortunately, this device will not be water or dust resistant.
So far no price has been announcedfor the device but we expect it to be budget-friendly. However, we do know that we can expect to see the Sony Xperia T3 sometime in July.
