It started off with Samsung providing a myriad of services as an incentive to purchase their gadgets such as free space on Dropbox (or Maxis loker, if you get your device from Maxis) and then they decided to give back to their consumers with the Galaxy Gifts and Samsung Galaxy Life apps which offer free apps as well as discounts at local merchants for food or other services.
Now, Sony’s jumping on the bandwagon and launching their own version in the form of the Xperia Lounge app which will offer consumers apps such as OfficeSuite Pro and 50GB of free Box storage for life as well as trials of Evernote premium and also Bitcasa’s 1TB plan. In the Malaysian site, Sony is also offering Michael Jackson’s latest album for Xperia users. All in, they are planning to offer about USD350 (RM1143) of value added services to their consumers though certain offers such as the Garmin suite of apps will remain restricted to Sony Xperia Z2 owners, the company’s current flagship. One caveat to this offer though, is that it’s only valid until the end of July. So get it while you can.
Sony also goes a step further in offering discounts for their other merchandise such as phone accessories via their Xperia Priviledge program.
