Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, has achieved more than 50 million downloads regionally across all seven countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan). The annualized Gross Merchandize Value (GMV) is recorded at more than USD 3 billion, while the active product listings is at more than 100 million regionally. Shopee Malaysia has garnered approximately 4 million downloads and more than 150,000 sellers nationwide.

Given the enormous success, Shopee has decided to bring it back this year with the promise of making it bigger and better with thousands of sellers participating offering thousands of products which will be featured in Shopee’s Lowest Price Guarantee campaigns.
“In a recent survey that we conducted with more than 7,500 respondents, we concluded that Malaysians plan their online shopping wisely by browsing around to compare prices before purchasing. Therefore, for 9.9 Online Shopping Day this year, we will feature thousands of products across 20 categories in campaigns that we will guarantee that the prices would be the absolute lowest in the market. If you find a cheaper deal in another platform, we will refund you 120% of the difference. That is our commitment to our buyers,” said Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director, Shopee.
“In addition to that, with Shopee’s ongoing incentives including Free Shipping Nationwide and Cash on Delivery, users can enjoy more savings with every purchase”. Having said that, Ho was confident that the 9.9 Online Shopping Day would become another milestone in Shopee’s young history as he targeted a growth of up to 5 times.
As Shopee continues to grow and reach out to a bigger audience, numerous notable brands have begun to see the platform as the preferred e-commerce partner and have opened official shops as part of their digital strategy. By doing so, more resources can be channeled into marketing activations to boost sales rather than setting up their own e-commerce distribution channels. From the users’ point of view, they can now shop for their favourite brands without worrying about the quality of the products and at the same time, enjoy the cost-saving benefits like Free Shipping and Zero (0) Commissions. 9.9 Online Shopping Day sees brands such as Nivea, Nestle Unilever, ESH2U, Super, Senheng, Watsons, ASUS, L’Oreal and many more promoting their products with up to 90% discount.
