There has been rumours regarding Samsung’s NX camera technology since it has not been active for a while now. In addition to being product quiet since February this year they have recently decided to pull out from several markets like the UK and Germany. Many believed that Samsung was selling of their NX camera business to Nikon, the world renown brand in photography. At this time many of you would be wondering why would Nikon be interested in Samsung’s camera patents. If you must know Samsung’s NX technology in digital imaging is quite a performer, knowing that Nikon is pressed on releasing more competitive mirrorless format cameras they might want to use some of Samsung’s know how in digital imaging in their future devices.
Recently though Samsung themselves have refuted the rumours of the sale to the photography giant. In the statement by a Samsung spokeperson, Samsung directly stated the fact that Nikon is not buying the NX camera technology from Samsung. There is however no official statement from Nikon regarding this rumour.
Even after the clear statement form Samsung one still cannot help to wonder where has Samsung’s NX camera been since its last release in February, the NX500. With their retracting of businesses also could be a sign that they are actually downsizing and making it look like they are ready to sell. Whatever it is no one has the full story yet and we are hoping we would hear soon from Samsung on their next move with the NX camera technologies so do check this space for updates.
