The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be the first smartphone to feature a full metal casing. However, rumour has it that this device will be setting a new trend for the company.
Sources are saying that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will also follow suit and be made with a complete metal frame. This is also hinted at to be the case with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. Is this the beginning of us only seeing metal devices from the company?
It seems to be true as that is the new trend with other companies such as XiaoMi wanting to compete with Apple and HTC that have already begun doing since the beginning.
However, realistically the full on metal casings may be limited to only flagships. Why? Well, major metal case manufacturers based in China are only capable of producing around 1 million solid metal cases per month. This is does not meet the level of demand that is expected if Samsung joins in with the trend. If manufacturers can’t accommodate Samsung, what happens if other companies want to produce metal devices as well?
Nevertheless, everything is still rumour. Samsung has yet to comment about the whisper and until it chooses to do so, nothing is confirmed.
