Samsung has been one of the few manufacturers who have been actively pushing curved Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology out to the masses via its new line of Ultra High Definition (UHD) and 1080p High Definition (HD) television sets and its limited Korean release of the Samsung Galaxy Round.
It looks like the behemoth South Korean manufacturer is taking the next step. In an earlier patent application this year, Samsung patented a device with a display which curves around the device providing it with a screen that literally breaks the normal boundaries of the face of the device. It seems like this device may be the upcoming Galaxy Note 4. However, with so little time until IFA in September, the device is more than likely going the way of the Galaxy Round – a limited release. While a wrap around display may be tempting and exciting in what has become a rather routine industry, it may not be a feasible option for production – at least not yet.
We are expecting that the device will indeed be available, but we doubt that it’ll widely available release. While it may be a novel idea, there is not telling how the market will react to the device and whether it will see the success the Galaxy Note line of device has seen in the past.
