We’ve been hearing that Samsung has been gearing to work on its own efforts instead of just looking to use Google’s Android OS. Now, however it seems efforts will be easing up. A report by Wall Street Journal says that the tech giant is moving about 500 engineers away from mobile to make themselves more useful in other departments.
For a company as big as this tech tycoon, 500 may not be that big of a number. Samsung did report last year that it had 40 506 software engineers in its pockets working for the company. We don’t think however, that this is the end of us hearing about Samsung’s efforts to be independent but the focus may just have shifted to “Internet of Thing” project instead.
And what about Tizen, you may ask? Well, we still think Samsung will release a mid range Tizen smartphone soon but the in-house operating system may be used instead for wearables, cameras and other sorts of accessories and appliances.
We would like to see some result of Samsung’s efforts in Tizen though especially in the smartphone market. What do you think? Would you like to see more Tizen powered headsets? Let us know in the comment section below!
