Samsung has partnered with NTT Docomo, which is one of the key telecom operators in Japan to release the Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The line up was previously limited to America but will be available to Japan starting October 2014.
When it comes down to specifications, the Galaxy Note Edge shares the same specifications with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 variant of the Note 4, according to Samsung’s official press release, which means that it comes with 3 GB RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB of internal memory with microSD support. The device differs only in its screen size which is a 5.6-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. The extra 160 pixels comes from the curved display used for the “Edge” of the device. The device will be available in Japan by the last week of next month.
The Galaxy S5 Active sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 pixel resolution complete with IP67 certification. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor which is mated with 2GB of RAM. The S5 Active features 16GB worth of internal storage which is expandable with a microSD slot. The S5 Active in addition, is equipped with connectivity features including 4G LTE (with Xi LTE and VoLTE support), Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, IR port, FeliCa NFC, and microUSB v2.0 port. It features a fingerprint sensor, heart-rate monitor and an S Pen stylus. The S5 Active also is equipped with a 16 megapixel primary camera with OIS and 3.7 megapixel front shooter. The device is powered by a 3000 mAh battery and will be available by 4th October 2014.
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will only be available in December. The device features an 8.4 inch QHD Super AMOLED display and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is powered by a Exynos 5 Octa 5420 processor mated with 3GB of RAM. This is complimented by 16/32GB of internal storage space expandable via microSD card. The Tab S 8.4 is equipped with an 8 megapixel main camera and a 2.1 megapixel front shooter. It features a fingerprint sensor and is powered by a 4,900 mAh battery.
