Rumor has it that Samsung has not given up hope of launching its first Tizen based smartphone. And, it seems that even after the death of the Samsung Z, the South Korean tech typhoon is planning on doing just that in India by November this year.
The director of Media Solutions Centre, South West Asia, Tarun Malik has told the Economic Times that the rumor is true – Samsung’s first Tizen smartphone will be launched in India. I would say this is the man to ask since he is the one heading promotions for Tizen in India.
So, if it isn’t the Samsung Z, what is the more affordable headset the tech giant is planning to launch? We’re suggesting that it might be the SM-Z130E or the SM-Z130H that was spotted in India for testing recently. We might see either of the two launched during the Deepavali or Diwali festive season.
Samsung is hoping to stand out the market with its Tizen based devices via its content and through the Club Samsung 2.0 service in India. It also recently launched the smart learning digital education store earlier this month. All these new projects should give Tizen a good support system before its launched.
Lastly, Malik did explain that Android is not gone. Tizen based gadgets will co-exist along side the company’s Android powered headsets. Interesting part of this point is that Samsung was not in the list of partners for Google’s new Android One project.
Is Tizen ready to take on the competition from Android One? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
