Samsung has received a boost in its attempt to penetrate the commercial sector as the US Government has approved the use of a number of its devices using the KNOX platform for classified use.
This makes Samsung devices the first consumer mobile devices to be approved by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), a product evaluator of the National Security Agency (NSA) and included into the Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Program Component List. The NIAP has approved the following list of devices for use in storing classified US Government data; Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 10.1 , Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Prior to this, Samsung devices have already been approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency as a part of the Department of Defense Approved Products List for Sensitive But Unclassified use.
The approval of Samsung devices for use by the US Government is a testament to the security and reliability of the KNOX platform. Following this, it would be no surprise to see Samsung become a major player in commercial security solutions.
