It seems that Intel and Samsung are working together to manufacture a smartphone that would be released in the near future. It is rumoured that Samsung is building a phone based on the Intel Moorefield Atom Z3500 chip. The X86 chip will reportedly be a 64-bit chip for the Samsung model and it would be under-clocked from its maximum speed of 2.3 GHz to somewhere around 1.7 GHz for the sake of lower power consumption. Despite being an Intel the phone based on the chip according to Samsung and Intel would be aimed to the lower end market segments. This means that we will not see an Intel powered flagship in the market any time soon. But the release of this phone seem to be very important to Intel as they are prepared to offer their chips at almost cost price to Samsung. As we all know Intel has been trying to break into the smartphone and handheld technologies market. Will this be their big break? Lets wait and see.
