Samsung Galaxy Tab S set for June release
Recent leaks have suggested an imminent release date for Samsung’s latest lineup of tablets, the Galaxy Tab S series.
Evleaks has once again come up with the goods, with screenshots of the new Galaxy Tab S slates in both 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch variants. It seems Samsung is heavily investing in the tablet market this year with the Galaxy Tab 4 series already released earlier this year. The ky talking point of this new lineup of tablets is the screen: the Tab S devices are expected to sport a 2560×1600 resolution AMOLED display. If this is true, Samsung will be the first to manufacture a tablet with an AMOLED display.
The design of the Galaxy Tab S devices are reminiscent of the Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, with the rounded edges and faux leather back. The devices are expected to have the fingerprint sensor embedded onto the home button that was first seen on the S5 as well. Another interesting feature is the presence of two rings on the back of the device, which is rumored to be used for a new flip cover type dubbed the Book Cover.
No detailed specifications have been released yet but a leaked retailer timetable did mention some key dates. Pre-order for the Galaxy Tab S slates begin on the 13th of June, with the official release date postulated to be as early as the 17th of June. With a release date this close, expect an official statement from Samsung in the near future.
