Samsung has finally launched its ruggedized tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active, here in Malaysia.
The Galaxy Tab Active can be considered a mid-range tablet but its emphasis is not on specs, but its durable build. The tablet comes with a protective cover that makes it shock proof for drops up to 1.2M. On top of that, it is already IP67 certified for being water and dust proof. This makes the Tab Active suitable for business users who need to bring a tablet around in various work environments. Keeping with the business user theme, the device also comes with Samsung KNOX, Citrix-ready and SAP certified to run SAP Work Manager and SAP CRM Service Manager.
The specs of the Tab Active are average. It is powered by a quad core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable by microSD. The screen is an 8-inch 1280 x 800 WXGA display LCD display and the cameras are 3.1MP rear and 1.2MP front. It comes bundled with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) with TouchWiz UI and also a C Pen. Another key feature is that it is LTE-enabled, allowing easy and fast connectivity when on the move.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a great option for users who are frequently on the go and also to those who prioritize durability over performance. It will in Malaysia for rm 1599 for the 16GB WiFi + LTE variant, arriving in early December.
