Rumors have been floating around of a variant of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5 called the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. The variant is rumored to have a full metal build, similar to the popular HTC One and comes with a bump to a 2K resolution screen compared to the current 1080p FullHD display on the Galaxy S5. Beyond this, the rumors are scant on any specifications aside from the inkling the phone may launch with an Exynos octa-core processor, though there has been no word since the initial leak months back.
According to the latest rumors, the phone may launch as soon as next month; possibly as Samsung’s pre-emptive strike or response to LG’s G3 which is rumored to launch with a 4K display later this month. We’ll have to wait and see, but it looks like the next generation of flagships maybe very beautiful indeed if the concept video created myGadgetic is any indication. Pricing rumors aren’t too bright though, the phone is rumored to launch at US$880 (RM 2,900) in South Korea. However, that was the launch price of the Galaxy S5 there as well and it retailed in Malaysia for only RM2,399 but expect to pay more for the premium build of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime – estimates place it between RM200 to RM300 more than the Galaxy S5.
