About a year after announcing the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung have officially announced the Samsung Galaxy s5 Mini on July 1st. This comes just days after speculation about the release of the device as well as the legit confirmation of the release of four mid range phones – the Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Ace 4, Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2.
The Galaxy S5 mini is to hit Russia early this year and the South Korean company is planning a worldwide expansion to follow for the device. The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold. No word has been announced about the pricing just as yet.
The Galaxy S5 Mini is definitely a step up from the S4 Mini as it includes more flagship specs. A heart-rate monitor is included this time around as well as a IP67 certified build and for added safety and security, a fingerprint scanner. The device will run on Android 4.4 Kitkat and sports a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED screen with 720 x 1280 HD resolution. It will be a quad-core, 1.4GHz device with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage. The storage size can be expanded with a microSD card up tp 64GB . The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini also has a 8 megapixel main camera and a front facer 2.1 megapixel camera. Equipped with a LED flash, it has 2100mAh battery power as well as the usual Bluetooth 4.0 LE and WiFi.
