The recently released flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 seems to be hitting the mark quite a bit compared to the competition. The device is getting favourable reviews from many reviewers and also has been demonstrated to be able to take more than what it’s certified for. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is IP67 certified making it water and dust resistant. It comes with a 5.1-inch 1080p FullHD display with 32GB on board storage expandable by microSD and a fingerprint scanner on the home button. The device comes with a 16 MegaPixel camera and a 2 MegaPixel front facing camera.
DxO Mark put the Galaxy S5 through a battery of tests to test the camera and it looks like Samsung may have found a winning equation with the camera in the S5. Scoring the highest in mobile devices so far this year – only matched by the Sony Xperia Z2. According to DxO Mark, the Galaxy S5’s camera has good white balance, exposure and colour rendering in good lighting conditions but was hard pressed to do the same when it was in less than favourable conditions. In fact, the device ties the Sony Xperia Z2 in image quality both scoring 80. But it managed to edge out the competition when it came down to video performance, scoring 79 compared to the Sony Xperia Z2 which scored 73, due to its favourable autofocus performance and also texture detail.
If you were on the market for a new phone and were on the fence due to camera performance, this report settles the score, at least for this generation of devices, boldly stating that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has one of the best cameras on a mobile device right now.
