Samsung’s European websites seem to be revealing a lot of information lately including information on the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. If the Galaxy S4 Active is anything to go by, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active would be a more rugged version of the flagship, possibly with a higher rating for water and dust proofing.
Details of the US Federal Communications Commission show that a device with the model SM-870A, is larger than the current flagship at 143.0mm tall and 73.42mm wide but shares similar specifications otherwise to the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 with a Snappdragon 801 processor and 3 GB of RAM with a 18 megapixel camera and a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera; 32GB or 64GB internal storage expandable by microSD with a 1080p FullHD screen and the gimmicky fingerprint scanner. We should be seeing better implementation of the heart rate monitor if the phone is mean for active users.
Not much more is known about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, but if Samsung does follow last year’s trend of bumping the specifications down slightly, we can expect to see the AMOLED display of the S5 replaced with a LCD display instead and maybe a few more concessions to keep the phone below the price of the S5. The Galaxy S4 Active currently retails for about RM 1,300 while the S4 retails for RM 1,600. So we can expect the S5 Active to launch at about RM 2,000, if not less.
