Samsung has been releasing toned down versions of its flagship smartphone to cater to the mid-range market. And it seems Samsung are bracing for the release of their next in line, the Galaxy S5 Mini. However, recent leaks suggest that there may be a rebranding of the Mini line; they will now bear the “Dx” moniker instead.
With leaks coming in from @evleaks once again, it appears that the a snapshot of the Samsung website displaying images of the new “Mini” phones also show the name Galaxy S5 followed by “Dx”. There are no other evidence that points towards the Dx branding so it may not be conclusive.
Either way, the Galaxy S5 Mini/Dx is very real indeed. Specifications are expected to be a smaller 4.5-inch 720p AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel primary camera with 2 megapixel front camera and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The design of the phone itself is very similar to its bigger brother, the Galaxy S5 but as shown by the website leak, offering more colours to choose from. The heart rate monitor on the S5 however will not be present in this device.
No release date has been announced yet, but with the official website already up, it can’t be too long.
