Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy Alpha in Malaysia on Friday, the 19th of September 2014. The South Korean tech giant is already teasing us and sending out invites to the press for an official event.
Available in four colors – Sleek Silver, Charcoal Black, Frosted Gold and Scuba Blue, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is the company’s first Galaxy smartphone to feature a metal frame build. It gives a premium image to the headset and its manufacturer. The Galaxy Alpha might as well be the most sold smartphone Samsung has produced in its product line up.
The Samsung headset packs in the Exynos 5430 which is the first system on chip (SoC) that is built on the 20nm process. With this, you can be ensured better efficiency as well as battery life. However, if you want a more traditional hardwired phone, there is another variant of the headset which runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. Due to the fact, the price is unknown, we’re not sure whether both variants will be available here and if both are, we can’t confirm a price difference. The Galaxy Alpha runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 1860 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Alpha sports a 4.7 inch 720p Super AMOLED display and is equipped with 2 GB of RAM mated with 32 GB of internal storage. There is no card slot but the 115 g headset has Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Wi-Fi. Along with that, users will geta 12 megapixel primary rear camera that features auto focus and LED flash. Some of the camera features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and panorama. To accompany that, there is a 2.1 secondary front shooter.
Samsung has yet to release a price for this device in Malaysia. However, for the first 100 customers who buy the Galaxy Alpha, you’ll be getting a free Gear 2 smartwatch.
