Foldable Tablets in Samsung’s Device Pipeline?
We’ve seen numerous articles, videos and pictures of the flexible display technology that multiple device manufacturers have been manufacturing and researching for years. Yet, nothing much has come out of it aside from the LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy Round.
It seems Samsung may feel the same way. The device manufacturer, who is well known for throwing everything it can at the market and seeing what stick, seems to be researching and patenting designs for foldable tablet-phone hybrids which are intriguing to say the least. The device is said to be a 8 or 9 inch tablet which will be able to fold down to a 4 or 5 inch phone. While the concept of the tablet-phone hybrid is not that new, this propels it forward by leaps and bounds. Unlike the current tablet-phone hybrid, the ASUS PadFone X, the device patented by Samsung looks to be a trifold device as pictured. According to the rumour, the device could hit the market as soon as next year, though we would recommend a healthy serving of salt with the rumour.
As always, we will have to wait for more rumours to come from the rumour mill before we can speculate any further.
