Samsung doesn’t want to pay Apple!
The South Korean tech giant is at it again! Samsung is pleading to an American court to not order the company to give in and pay a whopping USD$930 million to Apple!
Samsung was previously ordered to pay these amount of damages from an older ruling. Why? No surprise, it has to do with the fact, the tech tycoon infringed one of the Cupertino tech company’s patents with regards to the Galaxy line up. This was a sum brought down from an original USD$1 billion ruling. This case was settled years ago but has come back to haunt everyone.
Samsung and Apple have been looking to bury the hatchet in disputes for the past few months and even dropped all lawsuits happening outside America. The Galaxy phone maker however, wants this case in particular to be thrown out completely. Looking at the sum awarded, I could see very reasonably, why. A representative of Samsung, Kathleen Sullivan in a statement claimed that the judge presiding in the lower court made an unfounded and poor decision when it came to Galaxy phones being mistaken for an iPhone. The award according to her, is the essence of absurdity. Of course, counsel for Apple, William Lee disagreed.
The ruling has not been set for any date and none of the judges hearing this case on appeal have come to a decision. This case may take awhile to come to an end and rightfully so, as it involves crazy amount of money. The courts will not be taking this decision lightly in any manner.
