It seems like Samsung is looking to patch some serious bugs up in the company’s proprietary “S Finder” application in its Galaxy line of devices. If you’re running a Galaxy S5 or a Galaxy Note 3, you would’ve more than likely received a notification from your Samsung Apps application citing that S Finder requires what Samsung is referring to as an Emergency Update. The update can be downloaded via WiFi or data.
There are no specifics as to what was patched in the update or whether the update will be trickling down to other devices but AndroidCentral reports that their Galaxy S5 devices have received the notification sometime last week while we have had this notification on our Galaxy Note 3 devices. We’ll release more information, when or if it comes available; but we are speculating the update patches a few security holes which make the phone vulnerable in addition to some optimisation – probably what was causing quite a drain on the battery of my personal Note 3.
