The Apple Store in Russia has ceased its sales following the drastic fluctuations of the ruble. Russia’s currency has declined by as much as 19% on Tuesday, a massive drop in value and judging by recent trends, these drastic fluctuations might be around for a while.
To compensate for the instability of the ruble, Apple has already amended the price of the iPhone 6 by increasing it 25% last month . From the looks of things, Apple may once again re-evaluate the prices as suggested by Bloomberg. Apple spokesperson Alan Hely stated on record that Apple’s online store will be unavailable in Russia for the time being as prices are reviewed, with no exact date given for resuming operations.
It looks like Apple will be forced to up prices in Russia once again and to be honest, the Russians themselves might be reluctant to spend in their current economical plight. Only time will tell what this region holds for Apple.
