Remember the concept of the modular phone that seemed to look like it will see real daylight in the beginning of last year? Remember Google/Motorola’s Project Ara? We do. Some of you might have forgotten about it or thought that the project was killed. No surprises though if their killed it in the whole Motorola acquisition by Lenovo and rebranding to Alphabet. Except that it is not killed. In fact after months of hiatus it looks like it is back. How much progress they made though with the device we do not know as they are being very mysterious with their new website Project Ara. The landing page features an Ara word arrangement on black background and Google branding at the bottom right of the page.
Of course they have been active the whole year round last year if you followed their twitter page. In fact they actually posted all kinds of progress they have made during the last year, except when they actually went silent after October, 2015 with one last post in December. Apparently Google have been very quiet about the project either and refuses to respond to any kind of comments or questions from the media regarding the project. Even when the website was launched there was not much chatter either from Google. The only thing we know though is that Project Ara will be in Google I/O in May and that more details would be shed in the event. Of course, we will be digging around too for more information about this modular phone. In the mean time, here is hoping that the Ara will be launched this year.
