The second version of Module Developers Kit (MDK .2) for Project Ara has just been released by Google. With this, there should be an expansion in the ways developers create modules.
Another addition to Project Ara is the new contactless connection system between the modules and exoskeleton. With the new system, space is saved, total cost is reduced and durability of the gadget is enhanced.
Greybus, a new software protocol has also been released so communication between modules and the exoskeleton is better executed. We are also expecting an update that will allow owners to manage the functions of modules using the Ara Manager app. The app should give more information on module details and allow module swapping.
As for the Ara Module Marketplace, the online shop will be under Google’s full control when it comes to processing payment for new modules. With Google in the driver’s seat, all modules should be secure for public use.
