Filipino OEM Makes Windows Phone devices more affordable
We know Windows Phones to be quite affordable for anyone and with Microsoft launching its licensing for free project to OEM manufacturers, more non-Nokia headsets have been switched to run on the Windows Phone operating system.
A Filipino OEM has taken full advantage of the new opportunity and released Cherry Mobile which is a cheaper alternative to an already cheap Nokia phone. The Cherry Mobile Alpha Style is only P2999 (RM218 / USD$67.41) and is the most affordable Window Phone 8.1 in the market.
The Cherry Mobile sports a 4 inch display screen with an IPS panel. It is powered by a Quad-Core Snapdragon 200 processor that’s mated to 512MB worth of RAM and 4GB internal storage. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a basic VGA front shooter.
If that’s too basic of a smartphone for you, maybe you’d prefer the Alpha Luxe which is a little bit more price wise at P4999 (RM363 / USD$112.24). The Alpha Luxe has a 5 inch HD IPS display that sports Dragontail glass. Its powered by the same processor as the Cherry Mobile but gets 1 GB worth of RAM. It also features an 8 megapixel rear camera and a better 2 megapixel front camera.
So, what do you think? Would you sacrifice price for these cheaper smartphones or spend a little more and get a higher end phone? Let us know in the comment section below!
