OUYA is teaming with Asia’s Apple, XiaoMi! If you don’t know who OUYA is, take a look at the video below:
OUYA seems to be striking a deal to bring its games and platform into China and the rest of the Asian market. OUYA has been trying to distance itself from just being known as an Android gaming console. It wants to be known as more of a software platform with its new “OUYA Everywhere” campaign. It has previously partnered with Mad Catz with the launch of this platform, to bring its games to the M.O.J.O Micro Console.
XiaoMi’s end of the deal is to reserve a channel on its MiTVs and MiBox set top box for only OUYA games. Hence, giving the owner of these devices access to OUYA’s big catalog of games. The MiTV and MiBos is exclusively in China and OUYA will be gaining a huge market with its specially designed or retrofitted games for TV.
Android gaming has been looking to go through a major revolution with Google’s Android TV and other platforms being launched everywhere. OUYA however, seems to be ahead of the game in the Android world due to its high profile and successful Kickstarter campaign. It might just give its competitors such as NVIDIA and Google a run for its money and be the next big thing for Android gaming.
