Oppo Malaysia has announced a collaboration with local telco U Mobile to offer mobile packages consisting of a new Oppo device and either a prepaid or postpaid U Mobile plan.
Oppo has already expanded well in the Malaysian market over the past year with their high spec for low cost devices. Now, they aim to attract more new customers by partnering with U Mobile, their first ever partnership with a local telco.
Two packages have been announced for this collaboration. The first is U58 postpaid package that comes with the Oppo Neo 5 (LTE). The device is mid-range in specs; 4.5-inch WVGA IPS display, quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable internal memory, 5MP rear-camera, 2MP front camera and runs Android 4.3 with ColorOS 1.2. The postpaid plan costs RM58 per month and is bundled with 2GB of internet data with 100 minutes of calls. It is subject to a 24 month contract. When you opt for this package, you can purchase the Neo 5 (LTE) at RM598 from U Mobile and also, get 6 months of your subscription for free.
The other package is the Prepaid Bundle Plan that comes with the Oppo Joy. The Joy is an entry level device with a 4-inch WVGA IPS display, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of expandable internal storage, 3MP rear camera, VGA front camera and runs Android 4.2 with ColorOS 1.0. The Oppo Joy can be bought for RM 348 with this prepaid plan and will come with an RM20 top up voucher and 4 months of internet. Although the plan does not come with a contract, you do need to keep your line active for three months, after which you will be able to enjoy the free 250MB of internet by topping up RM30. Do bear in mind that the internet data will be refreshed to 250MB every top up, not accumulated and this deal will only last four months after the third month from when the plan was purchased. There is no limit to how many times you can use this within this period as long as you top up RM 30 each time.
The Oppo Malaysia-U Mobile collaboration has certainly brought some good deals to Oppo fans and is a step in the right direction to raise the profile of both parties.
