Last month we saw OPPO launch their highly anticipated 10x lossless zoom smartphone, the OPPO Reno. At the time, there were only two colours available to choose from. You either get a Green coloured back, or a black coloured one. While the Ocean Green and Jet Black options are both gorgeous, you cannot help but think that the colour options are little scarce.
Welcome to the OPPO Reno Sunset Rose edition, the latest addition to OPPO’s flagship series. It is probably the other colour option you might be waiting for. It is not technically pink if you ask us. Yes, there is pink in the colour scheme, but we would describe it more like off-white with pink tones and hue. The matte finish resembles the Ocean Green finish, which adds some easily appreciated texture to the device.
The important question here is; “does it look good?” The answer to that is yes. Yes, it is off-white pink. Yes, they say that pink is a feminine colour. It does not matter though. It has been a while since we saw a colour that is truly unique on a device with the kind of finish the OPPO Reno has. We think that it is pretty enough, not desperate; just the right amount of pretty that it turns heads for a second look, but not enough to draw too much attention to it.
The colour does not stop at the body. It continues to the back of the hidden front-facing camera module that pops-up the top of the device. Thanks to the pop-up camera module too, the OPPO Reno gets to keep its 6.4-inch Full HD+ OLED display spotless and stretched out to cover nearly the whole front of the display.
Of course, you still get the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 powering the device. That System on a Chip (SoC) is paired to a 6GB RAM for maximum performance even when there are multiple things running in the background. There is 256GB storage built into the device too, you need it with the dual camera set up at the rear. That camera shoots at 48-Megapixel paired to a 5-Megapixel sensor for beautiful and super-detailed photos. Keeping all that juiced the whole day is the faithful 3,765mAh battery.
The Android 9.0 Pie is overlaid with ColorOS 6 which is now more intuitive than ever. ColorOS 6 also supports fast charging for the battery. In fact, it is OPPO’s fastest charging smartphone yet with VOOC 3.0.
The OPPO Reno Sunset Rose edition will be available in Malaysia via OPPO’s authorised retailers and concept stores nationwide from the 2nd July, 2019, 5.00 p.m. onward. It will set you back MYR 1,999. The brand new colour will not cost you anything more than the current outgoing OPPO Reno with the other two colour options.
