OPPO has gotten it right when it comes to making affordable smartphones. Proof? The OPPO F1 “Selfie Expert” which sold plenty and is quite popular with its sort of pricing. For an affordable mid-range smartphone it also takes plenty of good photos. Of course there is the more premium OPPO F1 Plus which packed 16-megapixels out the back and a fingerprint sensor but that came with an extra hole in the wallet too.
The OPPO F1 was introduced early on this year. With the interestingly successful package of the device OPPO is sure to update it with a successor model. Well, when we say that they are updating the model, they actually already planned for it.
Although less than a year old OPPO is introducing the F1’s replacement model the F1s in August 2016, which is next month. According to OPPO’s press release the F1s is going to be marketed as a “Selfie Expert” as well. They also stated that the device will share the same DNA with the original F1 with certain improved and added features. OPPO’s Vice president is confident that the OPPO F1s will also achieve the same sort of popularity its predecessor achieved.
It will launch in Malaysia early next month, or actually next week. There has been no word yet on how it will be priced, but if it is a replacement model do expect retail price to hover around MYR900 to MYR1,000; same price point of the older F1. OPPO F1s, Next-Level Successor to F1 “Selfie Expert” to hit Malaysian Shore in August 2016
Kuala Lumpur, July 25th, 2016 —Building on the strengths of its Selfie Expert F1, OPPO is announcing a new successor to the F1: the F1s. Set to arrive in August, the device will be one of OPPO’s core products for the second half of 2016, and will carry on the F1’s legacy of superb photography, sleek style and snappy performance, while adding new features and taking others to the next level.
At the beginning of the year, OPPO kicked off its photography-focused F series with the launch of the F1, which was positioned to give users the standout daily shooter they demanded. Since then, the success of the device helped propel OPPO to the highest year-on-year growth in Q1 of any of the top smartphone makers, growing shipments by 153.2% compared to the year before, according to IDC.
The device also occupied the top spot in the $225-$300 price range in India, Indonesia and Vietnam this May, grabbing the second spot in the category in Thailand and Malaysia.
“Global reception for the F1 has been incredible and users have given us some amazing feedback, so we wanted to go one step further to bring them the ultimate experience. The upgraded F1s is going to be a huge hit,” said Sky Li, OPPO Vice President and Managing Director of International Mobile Business.
He also said that OPPO will continue to focus on perfecting and innovating smartphone photography going forward, with new breakthroughs on the horizon.
