OnePlus has shared new details on how the pre-orders for the OnePlus One headset would work. This is unusual for the company but it seems that the process will not require users to track down any invite codes.
The company has confirmed that it will open pre-order without any need for invites and is planning to get the ball rolling by late next month. The way the company is doing things however, might the reason why it released details.
OnePlus is planning to selectively open pre-orders for a fixed period of time. Whether this period is for days, weeks, hours, nobody knows. If you place a pre-order during that vague period of time, you get your name on a waiting list. Luckily there isn’t a fixed or limited amount of orders the company will accept during the period.
How long you have to wait for the device depends on your level of interest and how early you are in placing your order. You have the option of canceling the pre-order hence removing yourself from the waitlist if you realize you don’t have patience to wait any longer.
This is preferable to the invite-only system before but OnePlus isn’t getting rid of it completely. You can convert your pre-orders into an order if you apply an invite code later on.
