Good news for OnePlus users, something interesting has just dropped by. OnePlus has announced that an Alpha version ROM of Android 5.0 Lollipop can be downloaded on the users OnePlus One devices. OnePlus has put together a group of software developers to build their own independent ROM from Cyanogen. The software is still new and still under development, so there are generally tons of bugs within the software and the software OS is basically just an uncovered AOSP Lollipop for now.
OnePlus will be sending out over-the-air updates once the software reaches the general public in the future. Instruction on flashing the new software is on the OnePlus website. But if some of you guys are not impatient, the software will automatically update on your OnePlus devices in the next few months. But remember, this is only an Alpha build of the software, that means, the software will be swarming with bugs and difficult to use is some situation.
Here are some known bugs within the Alpha software; the Data Roaming is on by default, Camera and Video might by unstable even with the build supports 4K resolution and the quality might be as low as OnePlus are still fine-tuning the Camera. Some keys do not turn off when users enable software keys, the Clock crashes regularly and on first boot, the start-up time runs a bit slow. And the WiFi might be unstable.
So far that is what we know about the bugs in the software, that is why OnePlus says that, “users should proceed with ‘extreme caution'” while backing up their smartphones. Let us know what do you think about this new custom ROM by OnePlus.
