OnePlus has made a name being one of the most affordable flagships on the market. From its first flagship, the OnePlus One, the company has made it a point to bring flagship specifications and performance to their devices while maintaining a price point that many other brands have since forsaken. The price of their flagships, the switftness of their updates as well as the close to stock Android experience make OnePlus devices a compelling offering with little reason to look elsewhere.
That formula isn’t changing with their new flagship, the OnePlus 6. The new flagship packs a powerful punch with top of the line specifications including the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The processor comes with 8 logic cores (Octacore) which allows it to process data and information at about 2.3GHz on performance mode and 1.7GHz for minneal tasks to save battery. This big.LITTLE processor configuration allows the OnePlus 6 to perform like a beast while having amazing battery life. Paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS2.0 storage technology, the OnePlus 6 is built for performance.
In addition to the processor, RAM and storage, the OnePlus 6 continues to use the optimised Optic AMOLED technology it first introduced in the OnePlus 5. The new 6.28-inch panel on the OnePlus 6 brings the optimised colour profile which received much praise in its first introduction with a larger coverage: 83.8% to be exact. That’s to say, the screen covers 83.8% of the front panel of the phone. The new 19:9 aspect ratio allows users to be more immersed in their content. The OnePlus 6 also comes with 5 different display modes which allow users to get their settings just the way they want it.
The OnePlus 6 also comes with an improved dual sensor camera. The new 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel combination is being touted as one of the best in the industry. The 16-megapixel primary camera comes with a f/1.7 aperture and an increased 1.22µm pixel size. It is also augmented with gyro-electronic image stabilization (gyro-EIS) as well as Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) for better picture quality. The secondary 20-megapixel sensor comes with an f/1.7 aperture and a 1.0µm pixel size. The secondary camera allows users to capture pictures with the much sought after bokeh affect. The camera is also able shoot slow-motion footage at 240 frames per second (fps) at Full HD 1080p resolution and 480fps at HD 720p. It can also shoot 4K Ultra HD (UHD) videos at 60fps.
The non-removable, 3,300mAh lithium polymer (Li-Po) battery promises long battery life. Even if you manage to drain the battery down, the Dash Charge feature of the device is claimed to be able to give you a day’s battery life with a quick 30-minute charge.
Keeping with the trends, the OnePlus 6 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back of the device. The back of the device also comes with a curve to make the device feel more at home in your hands.
