Recent evidence have surfaced indicating a possible return to manufacturing Android phones for Nokia.
Nokia has just recently sold its devices and services divisions over to Microsoft but they appear not to be finished with their device manufacturing. In a bid to reignite their devices, Nokia has posted a multitude of listings on LinkedIn. The highlights of these listings are for several engineers and patent coordinators, key roles in for the manufacture of any device. The listing for Mobile Photography Engineer is an indication that Nokia may be looking to produce a new smartphone, or maybe just working on a new camera app for Android.
When delving deeper into these listings, there is mention of a “new category of products…”, the need for applicants to “lead the product management activities…” and more importantly, the mention of hardware, so we know at the very least that a new device(s) may be on the way. The excitement surrounding these postings was noticed by the Senior Vice President of Strategy at Nokia, Sebastian Nystrom, who then tweeted that the company are indeed looking for new hires for “new products business”. The information we have at present are vague and are not conclusive, but it still would be an interesting sight to see Nokia back in the smartphone business and running on Android too.
